I bet when Dungeys career is over, he ends up 2nd on the all times list just behind RC.

2/21/2016 7:50pm
Is it the "All Time" list and not "All Times" ? I guess it could be both but "All Times" just doesn't sound quite right but then again I'm pretty old ....

Dungey if he continues to crank out steady / consistent wins w/o another out of this world star like RC, RV, JS arriving on the scene Dungey could crank out several championships...

2006 JS won the World championship, and would have won the AMA championship too if it weren't for the bizarre situation with the AMA giving RC back his penalty points from fuel-gate, essentially handing him the championship.

sometimes wins and championships are not as important as the things you do after the checkered flag for your sport and community. dungey always said he wants to make a difference not only on the track but also off the track. and he is doing that much better than any of those guys infront of him on the record sheet.

The 2006 Daytona supercross, which RC won, did not count in the "World Supercross" standings that year but did count in the normal AMA Supercross Series. Having them both pretend to be co-champions at Vegas that year was the dumbest moment in our sport's history. Ricky was the supercross champion in 2006.

Did they not go to Canada for two rounds for the WC that year? That's where I got the 18 from. No Daytona plus two Canadian rounds. I know nobody cared about that championship but Bubba indeed did beat RC for a Championship.

Here's a question for some of you. Do we go back to '87 when RJ crashed and knocked himself out, allowing Wardy to win the SX title that year and give it back to RJ, and how about the '88 outdoors title when RJ's coolant elbow fell out causing a DNF and handing Wardy that title too. I'll bet if we go back in history, we can find a lot of times where something happened to a rider that gave another the title. In the end boys, after time passes, there will be no * in the record books. A title is a title, and a win is a win. End of story. Argue all you want, but it won't change a thing.

Dungy has 12 250SX wins, 26 450SX wins, 7 250MX and 38 450 MX wins. 83 total.

RC has 12, 48, 26 and 76 wins. 162 total

JS has 18, 50, 28 and 20 wins. 116 total.

MC has 13, 72, 2 and 15 wins. 102 total.

RV 11, 41, 19 and 12 wins. 83 total.

CR has 6, 44, 1 and 10 wins. 61 total.

So if RD continues at same level than last year, it will be before the end of 2018 SX when he passes JS for second in total wins (unless JS starts taking more wins too)

Wow, I did not know RV and zDungey have the same amount of wins.
If you go back and watch their careers, they were actually extremely close. RD's lack of championships were not because of his performance in a few cases. And the fact that RD DNF'd some rounds and was still competitive at the end to me says he had to fight hard to get there which means getting wins.

On the other end of the coin, RV had fewer total races in the 450 class. He was injured the first season RD was was on the 450, and RD has been in another season or two that RV hasn't been there these last two years. . .

Rv,Rd, both great careers, easily the 2 best since Rc retired. Once dungey is done all these questions and doubts can be answered.

Wardys 85 SX title wasn't declared until a month or so after the fact while they decided whether or not to take his points away for riding backwards on the track at the last round also.

Glover was screwed by that. And I say he was screwed because he had recently lost points for riding backwards.

See, there are a bunch of instances where one can question another's title. The history books don't tell those details, nor will they tell what many here are arguing over. Case closed.

And that's exactly why we keep the details alive here, so some of you S.S. mofos can't get away with binding and gagging Lady History!

Why does every RV fanboy say "Dungey never beat RV for a title that RV finished" well, how many titles did RV lose to dungey because he was hurt? Not to take away from RV,he was a great rider, but quit putting an astrisk on ever title Dungey ever won. I'm not a dungey fanboy, my favorite rider in the 450 class is Barcia on account of his style.

Dungey is currently 26 years old. The average male peaks physically between 28-32, or something like that. If his health holds, which historically for him its been near perfect, then he could very easily be nipping at the heals of the GOAT.

I'll agree with the title. It's looking like he has a shot at topping Stewart for second in all time wins, and he has a shot at taking 2nd in all time SX 450 wins, even if he races just through 2017.

Has he stated that he's retiring next year?

RC, JM, RV will always be above Dungey.

Dungey has raced an entire year and (almost) half of a year in SX to just now equal RV's total wins, and he has not matched the number of titles yet. Not to mention, Dungey never beat RV for a title in a series that RV completed.

Hello fanboy! You're an idiot. Dungey won the SX title as a rookie, and RV crashed out while trying to catch him. Christ, RV himself gives Dungey more credit than most of you fanboy idiots! RV was awesome, but so is Dungey. Give credit where it's due. And....maybe think objectively for at least a second before blurting out something as ridiculous as you do on here. Just sayin...
It's like a condition of entry around here that you get fire-hot-fucking angry and retort without reading what was written!

Completed. Completed. Completed.

How quickly things are forgotten.

2011, Dungey leading the series, it is close though. Then, a rock gets caught in the sprocket and his chain comes off.

He gets no points for the night. NONE. Finishes the season in 3rd, 10 points out of first. That chain never falls off, he comes out of that race with at least 22 points and the results for the championship is different. Even RV was given a "gift" that year.

Every racer at this level earns it, no asterisks at all.

2010- Round 1 – Ryan Dungey 2nd, Villopoto 5th (James Stewart and Dungey had a 34 second lead over 3rd place with 2 laps left in the race)
Round 2 – Ryan Dungey 1st Villopoto 2nd
Round 3- Ryan Dungey 1st Villopoto 7th
Round 4- Villopoto 1st –Dungey 5th (Dungey Crashed but had race well in hand with a 8 second lead at the time)
Round 5- Villopoto 4th
-Dungey 6th (Dungey crashes in first turn and Villopoto crashes into Dungey.#5 crashes again.
Round 6- Villopoto 1st (clean and clear holeshot)–Dungey 4th (Dungey stuck in 6th at the second corner)
Round 7-Villopoto 1st-Dungey 2nd (3.6 seconds behind)
Round 8-Ryan Dungey 1st-Villopoto 19th (Crashed hard and bike was slow to restart. Was 3.0 seconds behind Dungey when he huckabucked a rhythm section)
Round 9-Villopoto 1st-Dungey 2nd (Villopoto pulls a clean and clear holeshot. Dungey 4.4 seconds behind at the end.
Round 10-Villopto 1st-Dungey 2nd (Trey Canard a 250 rider stifles both Villopoto and Dungey..just longer with Dungey. 4.3 seconds behind Villopoto at the end)
Round 11- Ryan Dungey 1st-Villopoto 4th (Dungey beats RV straight up in heat race. Dungey pulls holeshot. Rv marred in 6th place and only managed two pass two spots)
Round 12-Villopoto 1st-Dungey 2nd (RV pulls holeshot. Dungey in 5th and works up to second place after crashing, nearly taking out Kevin Windham in the process.) 5.9 seconds behind RV
Round 13-Villopoto 1st-Dungey 5th (RV pulls holeshot. Dungey struggles and stalls bike.)
Round 14-Dungey 1st-Villopoto DNF(Dungey and RV run into lap traffic. RV overrides (meaning he wouldn’t have made the turn and takes out Dungey and then crashes trying to maintain lead. Breaks leg.)
Round 15-

For those that say RV was the dominant one over Dungey in 2010, this kind of says otherwise, but those who never have given RD credit for his success, probably never will. They both had good nights and bad nights. Sometimes neither one won. Most of the races were purely decided by the holeshot or by mere seconds. There was never any "dominance" by either rider.

A rock didn't get in his sprocket. It was damaged from contact with another rider. Just fyi.
