Also his preferences in set up seem like they wouldn't translate well to other riders, Like how RV really can't help Eli or Will with their set ups beyond testing engines / hard parts because of how individually tailored his set up is to his preferences.. Been a Reed fan since he started taking wins from James and Ricky but it's starting to set in that the end is near. . .

Has he hinted at anything on or off the record? Wrong direction with the bike? Stress from possible sponsor problems, or the injury that was hinted at by someone in his circle?

But honestly there's some great insight here and there, It just seems like the average poster / post is just people killing some time. The original content the guys bring us as long as their race weekend covered is great too. Pit bits etc are up there with every other site as far as I'm concerned.

As a lifer fan of 22. I would put money on him calling it quits after this season. He had some luck in the opening rounds as his veteran experience gave him an edge in the beginning as the others took some to to gain speed. But now as the top 10 just get faster it will be very hard for him to finish well. And he will not be happy with that at all. As much as I hate to admit it, I think he is finally done.

Yes you're right, Sully. I wasn't exactly sure what McCartys position is or who is directly running the race team. Doesn't seem like a stretch for Reed to have a future in Yamaha race team management.

And you know what? That's perfectly ok. Dude has had one hell of a career. Has developed himself, his brand and gained nothing but fans and respect along the way. Two Two motorsports was one of the coolest things to happen in some time & he even got to reel off a few wins along these past few years. I hope he doesn't have too much pride and race until he gets hurt or is truly buried in the pack week to week. I think it's too early to tell if this is a trend this year, but like I've said before. Chad either goes up or goes down in the results.

Bottom line: Reed believes he can win at any given race. Until Reed says he doesn't have it anymore, he has it.Ttruthfully, I wasn't a 22 fan...until he showed just how determined he is, Reed says he feels like he can compete/win on any given weekend...therefore, he can. The 22 has proven the naysayers wrong too many times for me to be against him. That and the fact that I know what drives the man, and I feel it myself...

The last few races weren't as great as the first ones, but if I am correct, he didn't get the best starts either. The field is deep, only 2 riders are above the fields so far and the rest is within a second a lap, so it is logical some week ends are a bit off on the paper.

He will do what he wants and what he feels at the end of the season, or next one, or the one after Smile , I am just happy it looks like he is planning to stay in the sport, having great people & team managers is really a plus. (i.e. Emig, RC, KDub, Langston, etc, that is really interesting to hear their feedback/knowledge).

Nah, just needs to hit up Tony for some refresher starting lessons and have him bring the boys to come ride with him at his track until he gets his groove back.

As someone else mentioned, it wouldn't hurt if Webb came down and rode with them too, got to get that good feeling back and see if that doesn't cure most of his problems of late.

Of course if Bubba comes back to play, that may help fire him up.

Would love to see Bubba and him back in the front group to mix it up a little.

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see where you're going with this thread. No real fan ever wants to see his guy retire IMO. Chad and James are the last 2 legends out there. Have a little respect. I think Chad knows what is best for his career and legacy...

I'll be the first to admit that I was not expecting Chad to ride this well this year. It doesn't help that every year he says he's in shape, feels good, etc.... but in recent years you look back and he has confessed he wasn't in great shape and struggled to get comfy. So anything he was saying leading up to 2016 I took with a huge grain of salt. The fact that just days away from A1 it looked like he was still trying to cobble something together - AND - considering the new guys moving up like Marvin, and I thought for sure this would be a rough year.

So for him to come out strong at the start just blew me away. I like that he is routinely the best performing Yamaha out there. And, honestly, I thought his last race at Texas was a good one. I know Reed thinks he sucked bad that night, but when I saw him in 18th on lap 1 I thought he would give up. Its those kind of starts where he would commonly get discouraged and get stuck behind dudes for multiple laps that he should be passing, but that wasn't the case. He systematically started clicking off laps and passing dudes. Lap by lap he got Hahn, Filthy Phil, Brayton, Weimer, and took advantage of some other dudes to get up to 8th I think before his last lap mishap. He also set his fast lap time on #16 which was later than everyone else.

I thought it was a good indicator of his desire to do well, despite not being a great night. He's definitely not just going through the motions and riding for a paycheck
