As I go through updating stats for the year, I've realized Dungey had a perfect weekend.

Qualifying: First

Heat Race: Holeshot, fastest lap, fastest average lap, led all laps, wins

Heat Races - Combined: Fastest overall time (5:11.516 to 5:16.517), fastest lap (53.229 to 53.409), and fastest average lap (51.919 to 52.752)

Main: Holeshot, fastest lap, fastest average lap, led all laps, wins

I don't know what other stats to throw in there, but I'm impressed.

Big whoop!

I did that one night on my KX60 during a barrel run at the rodeo in Paris, Texas, in 1986.

He is starting the season like he normally finishes the season. I expect more of the same performances from the Dung. He is confident, happy, and killing it. "The Man" must be proud of his boy.

The diesel is probably the worst nick name ever.

Didn't Dungey lack raw speed according to the majority of the people?

I don't think the majority of the people on here are saying that, but there are a select few on here who are adamant that Roczen and Tomac are faster. Oh, and he's boring too.Wink

I've been a fan since DeCoster first took him under his wing, but then again I'm not going to sit here and brag him up like he's the best thing since water under pressure.

Couple more...

- One his main competitors gets into 2nd on the 5th lap and unable to gain ground. Worse yet, he lost ground.

- His teammate gets 3rd. Good for Moose / KTM and good for Dunge. A few more points on Anderson / Tomac / Reed

So, if Dungey keeps doing what he's doing this season and dominates this year (over Roczen, Tomac, Canard-hurt, Stewart-hurt, Reed, Anderson, Seely...and all the other preseason contenders) will it FINALLY shut up all the people that say he could only win titles when his top competition is hurt?

No he won't shut them up, there will always be people that think he is boring and getting lucky. I would argue that the titles last year were enough to remove the asterisk from Dungeys accomplishments.

To some on here...RD could win everything for the next 3yrs....and they would still find ways to put him down.

The dude is a sponsors dream , freakin' wins everything , on the box of wheaties , has a super cool wife , awesome team and is just happy as shit! If anything.....it's jealousy that rears it's ugly head when guys talk bad about him.

The guy is living my fantasy....bastard!

I've never understood why people think the diesel is a lame nickname. Diesels are badass. I've been in some diesels that will flat out throw you back in your seat, too. If someone called me "the diesel" I'd take it as a compliment.

Damn straight!

Head on over to Europe and take a ride in some of their turbo diesels along the autobahn....

Guaranteed shit-yourself material.

I agree with this. I always thought it was an appropriate nickname. It describes all those years that he was grinding behind Villapoto and pushing him. While Villapoto was wildly successful, his success was really validated because of the incredible and consistent competition from Dungey. And now we know that Dungey pushed Poto to the breaking point, ultimately resulting in burn out and early retirement.

I think, particularly in light of his success last year, and the way this year is shaping up, Dungey will reflect back in a few years and appreciate the nickname for what it is: a tribute to his incredible willpower.

That wasn't the implication when he originally got the nickname.

Context... It's about the context
