Remember Matthes and Keefer telling everyone on pulp that you can just walk in and act like you own the place?

Wonder if this asshole was listening.....

After doing the necessary suspension work, full exhaust, and minor head mods, I'd say the bike is more likely in the $12K range (at least) and I too would hope the rider had insurance on it. I do and my bike is worth about 1/3 of that value.

That said, I hope the cops catch that M'Fer, but I'm not holding my breath. If they don't catch the guy when someone gives them a photo of the bike in the back of a truck, with the make and truck model along with the license plate, then we should all have no trust in the police outside of writing basic traffic tickets.
I understand your frustrations.

The plate and vehicle picture is a great lead. The picture of the guy riding away is also good.

However, it doesn't prove anything in a court of law. Just because a vehicle is registered to a certain person, doesn't mean that person was driving. The address attached to the plates could also be an old address. Lots of low life thieves switch addresses like I switch underwear.

The information we currently have is not enough for a search warrant. If the bike is hidden in the perpetrators home, all he has to do is invoke his 4th and 5th amendment rights and the police can't do shit.

Now... if they see that vehicle hauling that bike, you certainly have reasonable suspicion for a traffic stop. Now all you need is the VIN for the bike to be in "plain view" and now you have your bike back.

Pigs would rather extort money from traffic citations then do actual police work.

Where exactly is "there"? No offense, but are you on the scene of where ever "there" is??

Between the picture of the guy riding the bike and the picture of the bike in the truck with the license plate; the police have plenty of info to act on. I know this may be a hard for today's generation to understand, but just because the cops aren't live tweeting updates on the case, doesn't mean they aren't acting on hot leads

Can't someone in Cali look up that license plate online in a database to find the owner? I know in Ohio if you have a license plate number there are certain websites you can check to find owners etc. once you get his name then you try to look him up on Facebook and other social media sites. Have 10,000 people messaging him letting him know how big of a scum bag he is.

I think there was probable cause to stop the vehicle. A bike that matches the description of one just stolen laying flat in the bed of a truck in plain view with a person matching the description driving away from the scene (in the area) would hold up in court. Having an 8k bike flat on its side isn't proof obviously but could help justify the stop. At this point, a day later, based on the pictures, that would be enough to investigate the person at his house. However, with the system broken as mentioned in previous posts, it may be too late for that. I'd watch the guy at his house and wait for the garage to open and see if it was in there, then call the police with video of it and the rest of the pics. They would at least ask to see the bike to verify the owner. Hopefully they would demand to see it, and without cooperation, call a judge right there and get a search warrant granted.

Dude , that isn't the case at all. Cops get pressured by their superiors to write citations. Just the way that works.

Sometimes things like this need to be handled in a personal way though too. ...

Obey the traffic laws. Simple. Pigs. really, grow up. And you would be the first to dial 911, you have no clue how law enforcement works.

Guess it deoends on the size of the DA's ballsack. I'd try the case with only the evidence I have seen in this thread. And----I've tried a few hundred criminal cases as a DA. Worst thing that happens is (a) he gets arrested and gets to enter the DNA database, (b) his name appears in crime beat in the local paper, (c) he gets to waste money on bail, (d) he likely loses his job in the interim, and (e) all the local LEOs make sure they are 'diligent' EVERYTIME he is spotted in public. The best thing that can happen is he gets maxed out....

Not the case for me or my department. You have police that are detailed to only do traffic.

Citations are a rip off and I hate writing them to anyone (Well, not DUI offenders). $25 dollar fine for the offense, but let's tack on $150 for court costs!!! Really??

Many repair shops also have used car dealer licenses so it may have just been bought there.. The plate is a better lead.

It would fly in my city as well. But I'm in a small community. I know a lot places it wouldn't.

Without much more info, it just gives the defense more to work with. Who cares as long as the victim gets their stuff back. (My mindset, lol)

I understand that, Jimmy. My point was, how do you know the cops haven't already been there? No need to even respond to this. Just pointing out that just because you haven't seen the thief's mug shot doesn't mean the authorities aren't actively pursuing him.

Stolen credentials.
"Hey that was easy, let's go to the race and steal some more stuff!"
Better get San Bernandino sheriff involved in this one too.
Could be a bigger ring than we are all thinking. Not just Mike's bike.
Make some calls, close this fast!!!
You know, thats the first thing I thought of too after I saw that it was a KTM. Guys are probably bolting on the custom machined Decoster pieces as we speak....actually i hope they are in jail as i type.

Hey Steve, there's also a white truck at that Taylor Tech Dirt Customs shop also- behind it top left of pic.
Or maybe they know who drives the truck in photo( of the guy who took the bike ).

There has to be more to the story. On @akaydin918 Insta feed, the Taylor Tech peeps seem to know something.

And that's from over 8 hours ago.
