Anyone got a good slo-mo of Stewart hitting his head? I didn't see it as that hard of a hit to knock him the f' out. Is he just that punch drunk from crashing his brains out all these years? Serious question.

It's not the speed, but the way he whiplashes into that berm. My worst KOs have been situations like that.

Stewart is as much to blame as Dungey, that's a pretty open corner to be cutting down that hard, that early. Just racing but Stewart was partially responsible for it happening as was Dungey.
So the rider in front is responsible for adjusting his line to not get TBoned? You can say it was a bad decision, or bad judgement...
So the rider in front is responsible for adjusting his line to not get TBoned? You can say it was a bad decision, or bad judgement by Stew...but to say it was 50% "his fault"..that is absurd. The rider in front has the line till he is not in front. That is racing.
Instead of using the name "started to late" how about changing it to "crying too early"... Cool

I know it was a race accident but don't blame the guy you t-boned because he squared up a turn "too much". Own up dunge. I guarantee if alessi had done that and not dunge everyone would be hating on alessi today but since it was mr. perfect they all get offended.

yup, I went head first into a gorse bush down a bank one MX race (don't ask why, too embarrassing) but luckily the gorse softened the impact (slightly)

If Alessi had a History of NOT Doing it... Most Rational People wouldn't... but yes... the fanginas would...

DUNGY HAS A HISTORY OF NOT DOING IT...

I see it now. I couldn't get a good angle when I watched it last night, but yea, I've had one of those head slammers at Hi-Point back in '88. First jump in the turn entering the downhill staircase and my ass end came around on me off the jump. When the tires came back down, the longitudinal direction of the bike was perpendicular to my direction of travel. Very rapid slap down to the right side. To say my day was done was an understatement. Bummer too, because it was one of the best rides I EVER had going.

Yeah, the video up above shows a better angle than last night. Head slap.

Man, such a bummer. Really dumb move by Dungey. No way it was intentional, just really poor judgement which all riders are guilty of from time to time, even Dungey. So shitty for James to come back from such a long time off only to have it end like that. He seemed to be riding fast and smart. I hope he comes back strong, but I worry about all the hits he's taken to the head.

What was Dungey Supposed to Do roll the last couple Jumps ..
My point is Dungey was going fast , and already in the air
Before he knew Stewart was going to cut Down
.. i hate that it happened
But what else could Dungey have done , he already said he tried to stop ,
So what could he have done ?
He should have jumped to the outside. Stewart hit the turn the exact same way the lap before, why should it be a surprise to Dungey? Stewart was racing with Barcia, is he supposed to follow in line through the corners because the guy behind him might triple way to the left with no chance in hell of stopping in time. Yeah Dungey clipped the last jump, was that Stewarts fault too? No, just another reason why Dungey should have been more patient and jumped further to the right or even double- singled.

It seemed out of character for Dungey to make such a rushed mistake. He had the speed to probably go all the way to the front, he should have waited for a better opportunity. I really can't understand how people twist this into Stewarts fault.

as for the question, what were we robbed of? we were robbed of seeing the comback of one of the greatest racers who has ever lived. especially after what he went through missing the last season. if that doesn't get to you, imo you're either heartless or blind. that we're even debating this is not only frustrating and confusing, but very sad.

yay Vital.
What's sad is you're so hung up on some vision you have of what James could be vs. reality that it's clouding your judgement. James is probably one of the greatest ever but he's no where near what he was. He failed a test for illegal drugs and served his time. The fact he was back from that was not going to bring the magic back. So, no, I don't feel robbed of anything. Crap happens in racing and it's unfortunate.

Stewart was doing nothing wrong. Not one thing.
Nothing that Stewart has not done to Reed at least 3 times. Racing incendent.

In RD's defense, KTM have had some issues with their air brakes. In fact during their last skyhook tests they found a bigger rotor made no noticeable difference. I say it's the bike.

Now you know why Short's out. Must suck being the test dummy for this stuff but that's the price someone has to pay to make our bikes easier to ride and more expensive to buy Cool

I don't get what some of you guys are seeing. Was this a racing incident? Yes. Was this intentional on Dungey's part? No. Was this Stewarts fault? Definitely not. Did Dungey take an absurd line? Absolutely.

I'm a Dungey fan. Great guy imo. I don't believe Dungey would ever intentionally take somone out that aggressively. I'm sure he miscalculated the situation. But, there was no way he was going to avoid Stewart regardless of what line James took. We're seeing these lines taken more and more into 180 turns and it is being accepted as aggressive racing. These aren't block pass lines. These are way too aggressive lines that are going to create these situations every time.

James was far enough ahead of Dungey to do what he did. Dungey made a poor decision and went into the corner at way too aggressive of an angle.
