yosh suzuki probably would hire him if they were for certain that he could finish top 10 every race and get some exposure for their sponsors. but can he still? the top ten are stacked with big names and i'm not sure if he is still up there. he is definitely the biggest free agent out there tho.

Grant won the opener at glen helen in 2014 guys! never discount the dude, he is so frustrating to watch as he has the speed. its just putting it together all season thats his problem

He just came in second at a mxgp also. Very solid guy. He is a main maker for sure and some top tens and possibly a top five. Give him a shot.

Deserve....thats a word that gets used too much when it comes to potential replacement riders.

Why was it when Josh Grant got the replacement ride this summer at Team Kawisaki all I heard him say at the first few races was, "I'm not doing too bad for a guy that just came off the couch".

If I was running things at Team Suzuki I would call Josh and ask if he would like a tryout with the team. If he showed up at the practice track and looked like he had been training for the past 2 months I would sign him to ride the bike regardless of laptimes. But if he showed up, "Just off the couch" because he didnt want to train and invest in himself if he didnt have a ride for sure, I would say "Thankyou, I think we will go in a different direction".

He maybe the best bet... I think Suzuki will win the 450 supercross title this year if Kenny can stay healthy...

Seeing as how none of the SX rounds will be held at Glen Helen, I think most teams would be smart to keep him off the roster.

It can't be easy to look at all your surgical scars and not see the couch as being preferable to exposing yourself to more risk, but when danger is part of your job, then danger is something you have to face.......... or you just retire. When I look at the year ahead, I see that someone on this list of names: Dungey, Musquin, Wilson, Tomac, Hahn, Roczen, Tickle, Barcia, Peick, Bubba, Anderson, Pourcel, Seely, Canard, Bogle, Millsaps, Brayton, and Reed - won't even make the top fifteen, as there are EIGHTEEN names on that list. The need to "push" is going to be off the charts. If you've got money in the bank - that couch would be looking pretty damn fine.

Interesting perspective that... Terrifying list of talent right there.

I hope that list translates for great races for the win.
Seasons have a habit of starting out all exciting with all the potential, then the top 2 guys just get back to business as usual.

I think if Suzuki was looking for an outdoor replacement Grant may get the nod, SX not so sure but on the other hand, Who, With that kind of speed is even left to sign? Every time I think Grant is going to do something special it doesn't seem to materialize. (Unless of course its Glen Helen).

The thing is with Grant that is unlike any other replacement rider is his raw talent and when the stars align he could get a podium and top 5s.

I agree with that Park boys, How many more times or chances of those planet's aligning do you think he has left? He has had good equipment for a long time and just never seems to capitalize on it.

My money's on Bagget's bike to rest on the stand until he's ready to come back. Meanwhile, James Freaking Stewart rides the other YSFR Suzuki and the other two factory supported RM-Z450s are in the capable hands of Ken Freaking Roczen and Broc Tickle.

I guess its unrealistic to think Yoshimura Suzuki will get a replacement rider. The main motivator to finding a replacement rider is that the main sponsor of the team pays for on-track exposure and requires a certain number of riders for the money they are putting into the team.

I doubt Yoshimura cares. Now, if it was Team Monster Energy/Redbull/Rockstar Suzuki, there might be some incentive to get a replacement rider.

Me? Id like to see Nick Schmidt get a shot at a factory bike

Due to the extremely talented field this year, this is why Josh Grant is an excellent choice. With his natural ability and experience, he could jump on the bike with one week of testing and make the main event. There's basically no other privateer that can do that right now, making Grant the most logical rider to ride the bike.
