Going from Sweden to see just one SX-race. WHICH?

We was thinking about Daytona. That seems to be kind of a mix between a mx and a sx track.
But maybe some of you guys have better suggestions.
Any ideas about the best and most interesting place to go and watch SX?

Daytona is cool, but definitely atypical of the rest of the SX season. You can also watch an Endurocross, a GNCC, and lots of bike week craziness, all in about four days.

Interesting? Hard to beat Met Life Stadium, with NYC nearby.

If you want it to be a moto vacation, Anaheim or San Diego is good. Visit TLD, Pro Circuit, Chaparral, plus all the usual So. Cal. tourist destinations.

Hard to beat A1 for hype, the max number of healthy riders, and all the new team/rider/gear/equipment.

I've only been to Atlanta and New York, but from what I have heard and seen I would not go to Daytona to see an sx. For me, I like being as up and close as possible and the Daytona stands are really far from the track.San Diego or a1 would be my pick at this point

Having been to A1 a couple times, I'd have a hard time recommending any other single round. Like Guyb and others said, you can't beat it for the hype, healthy riders, big crowds, an awesome pit experience meeting riders/teams/etc., the whole thing.

I'd love to go see Daytona sometime, but that's on the other side of the country from where I'm at.

Daytona... because it's the closest thing to not being Supercross... A1 is probably your only chance to see all the
first tier riders race it's sad to say... It sucks but we can't do anything about it... It's got to suck... you ride & train
your ass off & another rider's mistake can put you on the couch for 3 months...

Well A1 was my first pick but my friend is busy at work then, so unfortunately that is not possible this season.
Florida seams like a nice and warm place to go in march and probably a faster track than most of the other SX-tracks. But if it is hard to overview the track beacurse the stands are far from the track it is a minus. Also San Diego is earlier in the season which would probably give us a better chance to watch James Stewart that have been a dream for many years. :-)

Not much experience. But I did what you're going to do last year. We picked Houston and it was awesome. Thinking about Dallas or New York for this season. Picking places that's easy to fly in and out of.

If youre primary goal is SX, Anaheim 1 or Daytona. If you have some time to see some of the US as well... Final round in Vegas could be good, then go around california for a while, maybe even long enough to catch Hangtown.

Check out where Norwegian Air flies to, they have some of the cheapest direct transatlantic flights around and go to plenty of SX destinations... Vegas, LA, SF, NY, Florida...

If you're a real fan of the sport, the appeal of A1 should be obvious. The stadium and surroundings are less great although Disneyland isn't far if you're bringing kids and you want to subject yourself to that.

I haven't been, but Petco looks amazing and it's in downtown San Diego which is quite nice. If you stay in a hotel in the area, you can walk there and to lovely bars/restaurants in the area.

I haven't been to the Dallas Supercross but the stadium looks incredible. I have been to Dallas and I'd vote it less fun than SoCal but if you're just going to the Supercross it might be one to look at. The retractable roof also means you wouldn't have to worry about sitting in rain.

It depends on the seats, but you are not that far away from the action in Daytona. I had a great time and was plenty close to the action. Daytona is unique, and there is so much to see and do. Another plus is that you would be traveling some 2500 miles less if you did Daytona.

A master planner would Buy tickets to Anaheim 1, and San Diego (round 2), given their close proximity to each other, (~2 hours by car) one could come here for 8 days and see the first two rounds.

We are just staying a few days, 3-4, and are not bringing the families. At least not this time.

I didn't realise the supercross event in Daytona was during Bike week.

Please tell me about Bike week. Is it fat, tatooed guys on Harley Davidsons and beer involved?

Bike week is alot, dirt bikers to fat guys on harleys. And everything in between.

Atlanta would be a good one if you want to see a traditional SX race, and aren't interested in the rest of bike week. Probably the cheapest plane tickets, and it's the A1 for the 250 east class. Not sure if it's normal at other SX events but usually the pros are at a local track the day after for ride events.

There is that. They just have lots fun and ride their bikes. I had no hassles with anyone, and they have some interesting booths to look through if you're into that stuff. There's naked coleslaw wrestling if that floats your boat.

Outside of the race, agree with you. Pit party might be good but I don't like the venue. It sucks to get out there and it's one of the worst stadiums they visit. I think it probably is the worst, and that is one I've been to. It

I like the earlier suggestion of hitting up A1 and SD.

I've done a similar SX trip what you badger are planning to do. We went for Metlife/NYC and at least I was happy with it.

Things to consider:
- Going West coast (Anaheim/Vegas) requires more money and more time. Your flights/transfers will take more time and flights will be more expensive. Because of time zones you will feel very tired even if you stay at east. West coast will be even worse. And in addition, if you have just an extended weekend (like we did) you're not gonna have any time to adjust.
-NYC itself is very impressive (coming from Scandinavia) and definitely worth checking out. We used sunday morning/afternoon for this.
-Logistics are pretty good in NYC area and you can get cheap hotel from NJ only couple minutes away from Metlife stadium
-Championship might be over/riders hurt
-The weather isn't nice (compare to Florida or California)

Where does Virgin fly out of Scandinavia from?

3000 dkk and I'm in Los Angeles in ~10 hours. I haven't been subjected to any of their delays. Can not beat that.

A1 is a good recommendation because of the hype, enthusiasm, amount of healthy riders, etc. I've been a few times and it is a lot of fun. The downside would be that it is rather far from you and its an outdoor stadium so theres always the chance of rain.

Daytona is an awesome race. I've been to it a few times and while its great, it is also a little different than the other rounds. That is good for those of us that get to go to a lot of SX races but I wouldn't recommend it to you if you want to get the full Supercross effect/show.

AT&T Stadium in Dallas is fantastic and DFW is a huge international hub so I'd imagine it'd be easy to get to. It's my hometown so I'm biased but it is the 250 East Coast opener so there is a little hype going into it. You don't have to worry about weather (not while watching the race at least), DFW is a huge metroplex with lots of nice hotels and things to do. No it isn't the mx mecca of the world like Southern California is and there's no Disney World but theres still things to do.

MetLife stadium would be a good choice I'd think as it'd be a shorter flight and theres plenty of things to do in NYC but its a daytime Supercross so just like Daytona, you won't get the full effect/show/atmosphere of a traditional supercross race. It's also outdoors so you're subject to weather.

If the city of Las Vegas interests you then that could be a good choice too but the stadium is a dump.

They don't. Fly out of London. Norwegian doesnt fly where I'm going either. Good if it's working for you with Norwegian, I will peronally never consider them as an option.

Daytona is a dirt bikers dream fix. SX, Flat Track, GNCC, Endurocross all in the same area. There is a BIG Vintage race at Gatorback too.

If you just want to hit 1 SX Race .... Atlanta is ALWAYS a good RACE with lots of on track action.

Since i live in south Sweden quite close to Denmark, Copenhagen is not very far away, and i guess that gives me more options regarding cheep flights.

Is Daytona a daytime event without the fireworks and such stuff?
I must say that bike week sounds very interesting. :-D

I will have to wait and see when my friend can get some vacation from work before we decide which race we will visit.
But i think San Diego or one of the East coast events would be the best choice for us.
I would love to go and see Anaheim 1 but that is unfortunatly not possible.

pretty much SX is an all day show if you can get in for practice / qualifying then break till night show.
