I can't see shit!

Anyone else having trouble reading it on an iPhone? I get the flash 11-10 banner and then a blue/black screen under it. Tried Safari and Chrome.

Anyone have a print friendly link or something that will work. Need to read!

Cheers
I couldnt read it on an on ipad untill I hit the READER button.

Racerx site has been spotty for me on mobile and PC's and macs ever since the the site upgrade a few years ago.
Suspect the prgrammers were getting too cute with the " features " they wanted. Never go there much anymore.

Still I suspect something didnt get translated right as I could never tell who was talkink. Got the jist of it though. excellant article.

It was a great read, what I get from it is that Chad put in time and Money into racing until it hurt him Hurt his $$ hurt his Business and reputation in the end. I have run a few factory backed teams and enjoyed winning championships with Kawasaki, KTM and Yamaha. now days I run a Performance shop and get asked to be involved in or support riders or team every year I generally keep away from them for one reason I cant afford it.... Chad Sanner gave it his all poring time and money into racing and got little in return. The level of support he offered was more than he could afford and riders and the sport took it all. Many years ago when I was 16 I asked a guy (who was a top racer) "what's it cost to go racing" thinking he would give me a dollar amount that I could save up and achieve. His answer " everything you got kid ...everything you got".

Reading between the lines and in the absence of Comment by Chad himself I would say Chad gave it his all and then some!

Thanks Steve, great read. I will say Sanner helped me out with a motor and did a heck of a good job so it wasn't all bad. Things don't always work out, but believe he had good intentions.
I'll agree with this... I think i'm probably the only guy in the UK with an Eleven10 motor in my CRF250. I loved the way the guys worked, how the team/bike looked, and you can't deny they had serious power with all those holeys the guys were getting! So i sent my motor over to Sanner in 2013 and had the works...

Few decent phone calls with Sanner (selling me the dream, even though i was already keen), and we couldn't wait to get the motor back, onto the bike for testing before the season started over here. That's when the issues began. Excuses on excuses - promised deadlines missed every week, and weeks/months went by with no sign of my motor. In the end i was thousands down with no motor for my new bike sitting here. Worrying!

Luckily, i caught Sanner on a good day and he shipped the motor back over (minus the key Vortex ECU to tie the package together, but it was a start) a week before we raced the support race at the British GP at Matterley Basin. Bike was quick but not crazy with the stock ecu. We were lucky to get the money back on the ignition later down the line, and were helped out with excellent service by Josh Pitts(and Don/Andrea Leib at Rocket).

Josh later did a custom dyno mapping on the bike whilst he was over here in the UK working at Dixon's shop - and the bike was finally what it should have been, just a year later than we'd hoped!

Excellent read though, and really tied together the story we experienced, and it seems lucky we got the stuff back at all! Sanner, i believe, did have great intentions, but major cash issues hindered the team, customers, and everyone around it.

Great job, Matthes!

The doctor that Nicoletti mentions has been there for many years for him. It's not even about getting more business at this point, he genuinely wants Phil to succeed and he is a HUGE fan of motorsports. His son's pretty damn good on a bike too!

Wish we could have gotten Sanner's take on how many industry sponsors hosed his ass. Bummer that things didn't work out but those were some mighty big expectations coming out of a little one man band performance shop. The results they got with what they had were quite impressive.

Now, how about some good investigative reporting on some of those bigger teams that have shit the bed and left people hanging? Racer X painted some rosy ass pictures of MDK in print and a year later that operation shit the bed with people being owed didn't it? And how about Greg Albertyn and his suit and tie days in the real estate investments? RX was all up in his ivory tower but we never heard a peep after that went to shit. Is that why DeCoster is still working past 70?

Funny how some people are exempt from a good bash fest while others seem to get a double doseShocked Laughing

I think Sanner really did try. Obviously he was pulling money from the retail company to try to fund the race team, which I would say led to both entities demise'.

Hopefully he can bounce back and make good on some wrong doings between him and some of his customers at some point. He clearly was a great engine builder.

Him not answering Matthes calls just follows up on what you hear here and in that article... He burned me on something as well so I could care less if he gets his opinion thrown in there. Laughing

It would still be interesting to hear the truth about some of these "industry" types that everyone worships that welch on their sponsorship commitments. Lots of nutsuckling in this little sport. Someone new rolls into town flashing a little cash and everyone wants to be their friend.

And how about some of these riders who take the money and never line up for the race? Been a few of those over the years. And people freak when Hannah speaks...LMAOLaughing

I always wondered what happened to Greg the real estate tycoon. Sounds like there is a story there that I am not aware of.

Bitter? Nah, its like the 6D guy on pulp saying rhe helmet certification test deals tell the Manufs where they are going to hit the helmets in their tests.

It kind of invalidates those certifications.

The real estate market took a hit and his website disappeared. Probably along with a lot of peoples money. All I ever heard was "oh well". Seems I read he got DeCoster to invest with him and then Roger went on to say later that he was going to have to work X numbers of years more because of real estate investments that others advised him on.

If you know how to use google, you can see lots of big name baller riders had lots and lots of foreclosures, some only a few. Some are still in the industry, some not with their chicks anymore, and most of These guys were all way over extended. And their trophy chicks had to get a Job.

Most of these guys are still grinding to make a living.

DV said it best once on pulp. Something about not sucking up to manfriends for free underwear glasses and rims and bullshit that jas no value......make millions and concentrate on winning and jusr go buy shit.

You dont get a rep like that for no reason.

Each person is validating what they others are saying, and that's all the proof you need.

They don't, it's just an excuse to get into something they like, and just like every other millionaire and multi millionaire after the vultures get done and the CPA say's enough, they go do something else.

I like Chad, bummer it's got down to this, what has happened here is not unique , happens every day in the sport, it just doesn't get reported.

it amazes me the different paths these kids take coming thru the ranks - some are coddled and mentored with everything from funding to bikes handed to them and then the ones like martin who have all these obstacles - u would think pure talent would always prevail but i bet theres a lot of kids that don't ever get to show their talents - sure is a tough road for both coddled or not

doesn't alex's parent own millville - i would have thought there would have been a ton more opportunities and backing thru his parents and their connections?

There is no such thing as "pure talent"

Some make the most of everything and never give up, the others get weeded out.

Because it reduces their taxable income? It's pretty basic stuff.

I recently read a fictitious book but I'm wondering if there is any truth to one of the concepts in the book. Basically a lawyer sponsored an amateur fighter through his amateur ranks and owned 25% of his career earnings. I've never heard of this in mx, but then again sometimes things aren't always public info in mx. There's no chance that could be the case here is there? I did find the doc helping a bit odd but it could very easily be a nice guy helping out. And the level the doc was helping doesn't seem to be enough to warrant dibs on career earnings.
Indy Car champ Scott Dixon had a very similar set up with a group of investors from NZ, they funded him for a number of years until he got a full drive, he brought out the contract eventually, pretty risky investment with any pro sport, but its not uncommon. and the pay off can be huge,

Met Chad at Unadilla several years ago. He qualified and raced a 450, and one of us went to the gate with him because he was there by himself. He did some work on a 250F motor for us, for AX that year. Super nice guy, core dirt bike guy. I was stoked years later to see him doing well.
Unless you have had your ass handed to you in any business venture, it's difficult to understand what can transpire. I really hate it for him. And of course for anyone that was negatively impacted. (I did not read the article yet)

He didnt "start with 2 million."
Racing is a lose lose lose for most. Sounds like the guy was juggling far too many balls and they all came down.

Even the best fall down sometimes. Most wouldnt even try.
You know the saying...before you judge a guy, walk a mile in his shoes. ....

Maybe he didnt respond to Matthes because of pride. I doubt the guy planned for shit to go this way.
