Nah, what you guys are talking about is the "RC Double" at least that's what I've always heard it referred to as.

I still remember the first time I jumped the widow maker at Kenworthy's. I was fortunate enough to follow Brock Sellards over it when he was riding for Honda. It was during practice and I said if I can stay with him over the dragons back before it I'm following him over the widow maker.

That was big, but it's way too forgiving to be scary. This jump was about 100ft. I had my bike 5th gear pinned.

You are so right. Watching Pastrana attempt to scrub jumps at the red bull event last year just made me think how far things have come so fast. Remember when the riders in the 125 SX series did all they could do to clear the triples. Now they do all they can do to not overjump most of them. For me, the 80's were the best as cool gear, painted helmets and supercross were all just gaining popularity. Its all good though.

Tom ato, tomato. The announcer at the track called it the catapult when I was there so that's what I went with.

Almost forgot about this jump, I remember seeing Ricky do it when he was coming through the pack one year and I was completely stunned by it. I've seen a video of Cooper Webb do it on amateur day.

I grew up 20 minutes from Saddleback park. The Magoo double was crazy narley back then. Funny thing is, todays novice rider would do that double without thinking twice.

Well I stand corrected, Racerx has verified it is the "Windham double"

After looking at the jump again, looks like they trimmed the take off down so it's not a blind jump any more. Probably for the best.

I've ridden this track back when it was shaped like this, and the vid doesn't do it justice. 5th tapped on a 250f off a big blind roller to get onto the middle of the next table. I think they put in a speedy double before the roller after this to stop kids dying trying to imitate him.

That track also had a fairly gnarly stepdown with a much taller takeoff than landing. A short, peaked out little landing before a 180 degree left, and it was a really touchy jump, like 3rdish mid range to tapped out on a 250f. Back when I rode at Albany, I was still just learning to jump and wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Looked it up and cycle country's been tamed way down, or maybe it just looked a lot bigger when I was 15 Tongue .

That big roller-table combo Josh put together was huge, though.

Yeah, I see... the first 4 turns are all that's left from the original design... That would be 3, it just got bigger & it gained a
infield tunnel over the years...

Here's a triple we built in grandpa's back forty. I know if looks big, but it's actually only like 65-70ft. If I would have had my CR500 I would have made it. Next time.

i never rode this track but went there to check it out when i went to visit a friend at Corvallis

Is the step down you're talking about in the center of the track? I watched some dude huck it on a 250 smoker and it looked pretty big from the grandstands

That's the one. Nowadays, it looks like it's been neutered, probably for safety reasons. And it's part of a straightaway now. It had a white railing on either side and was like a 75 ft. tabletop, but shaped like this:

except it was a gradual slope, not a step. My ASCII art sklls are only approximate. It also had a hard right hand turn after, so it'd be like 3rd gear on a 250f and a finicky takeoff--I remember you had to sort of soak it up. If you preloaded/seatbounced too much, you'd risk landing in the berm, but if you soaked it up too much, you'd risk carrying a lot of speed right into the face.

Best scenario, you'd semi-scrub it off and land about 10 feet right from a hard right turn.

Like I said, I never touched it. I was on an 01 KTM 125sx back then and I think I had heart palpitations all day. I was riding in my buddy's dad's boots because I forgot mine at home and I mindlessly followed his intermediate/A class brother off of some stuff that I had no business on.

Those were the days.

I'll be there tomorrow to verify but its not the same now. They put in a new tunnel underneath it so no matter what the take off is going to be different. Looks like another roller was added closer to it as well.

im pretty excited to see the Indiana track raced on without mud looks like a couple cool ones there.

also there was a free ride video of fitzpatrick ranch and some of those big hill jumps look pretty insane
