Ever try what? Report a bike stolen, using a MSO as proof of ownership? No, fortunately I haven't needed to. Are you saying it's not possible? The statement from Don says, " The title is in my name." Not MSO.

What would you do, Manny? Would you try to repo the equipment? File a civil suit and seek a judgement?

Don has an MSO...even-though it establishes origin of ownership...it's NOT a title the law enforcement usually recognizes...indeed, it's not a TITLE created by the government.

You know me: it would have NEVER LEFT the shop. Been there, got the scar tissue.

Don is guilty of Three things:

1. Being a Nice Guy.

2. Letting someone take advantage of him...imagine a guy that's the father of a "privateer" wanting to help another "privateer"...?

3. And letting desperation get the better of him.

What Don hasn't come right out and said is...he WAS NOT willing to "take" the bike...it was HIS motor in THEIR (or someone-else's) chassis. He wasn't going to take someone-else's stuff.

He just wanted to get paid for his bike and per THE AGREEMENT THAT a certain woman PROMISED TO ABIDE BY.

I really dig the excuse where-in a set of billet-hub'd wheels are a reason to NOT PAY SOMEONE $7K. That's hilarious.

No worries. Shit happens and this is just a sad situation all around.

Like I have said several times, someone needs to bitch slap Cade Clason and his grandma AKA Debra Poole.

This whole thing is ridiculous and I hope Don has a laywer that will rip them dead beats apart. Make them pay for the bike and all the lawyer fee's on top of it.

That Clason kid has some big balls to even show up with some modified bike like that , with ground of serial numbers and just " pretend " everything is cool and nothing will ever happen.

The only thing that would make me feel better , is if I hear a follow up story of how Don punched him in the face and took his bike back. All the while he throws a pile of dog poop at his grandma. Eat shit ya dead beat , lying old bird!

I'd say it is time for MX Sports to review the suspension ASAP....
100% truth!

Jeffro is spot on!!!

People giving this politically correct answers of time and place to deal with it can get bent. Next time your bike gets stolen (and thats what it was) and you see the kid at the track about to moto I'm sure your just going to patiently wait for him to throw down 2 30 minute motos. F that.

Seriously Clason is lucky all he did was adjust the rev limiter. Kid would be eating through a straw if he stole from me.

So the owner of the bike changed the ECU to a setting that wasn't fit for racing?

So what? It's his bike...technically, legally and morally. He could have set the damn thing on fire if he wanted too.

Case closed.

All I have heard on the many post on this matter is what a great kid Cade is and all blame points to granny or Don. I don't blame Don one bit. I cannot stand people that expect something for nothing. Half of this country feels they deserve things for free and it's sickening.

I feel if Cade knew any of what was going on then he should have refused to ride what was apparently a stolen motorcycle. If anyone should be banned from the pits it should be the Cade and his crew.

Maybe the text messages with the purchaser is an enforceable contract? Perhaps FTE will chime in...

There really should be no question here. Clason seems like a fucking loser dead beat who doesn't pay his bill and Don won out on the deal and at least got the fucker to quit riding the bike he never paid for.

WTF is up with this new generation of people who think they are entitled to get free shit? Just go out and take something and claim it's yours. Or take something on loan with an agreement to pay for it , but never pay a fucking dime?

Fuck anyone who thinks like that! Most people that have to go out and bust their ass every day appreciate the things they own , because they fucking worked for it , and that's why they OWN IT! I've had to scratch and claw for every damn penny I have , and I'll be god damned if I'm going to give any of it away unintentionally! You want something? Fucking earn it!
Just want to point out that this has nothing to do with a "new generation". Race teams have been shafting engine builders in all kinds of racing disciplines since racing started.

I'm on Team Leib in this deal.

I gotta say, I'm glad there's actual info and discussion about this. At first, I thought Don was in the wrong. But reading further into it, I kind of can't blame him.

Thank you for taking the "generational" aspect out of it.

Maybe Luongo is onto something. The idea is to regulate professional motocross racing, not make sure everyone's equipment/bills are paid for. Eliminating the local pro from the mix can help fix that problem.

Just a thought, not saying I feel that strongly either way.

I'm sorry brother , it's just that bike thieves or anything of that nature comes in this sport I take it as a slap in the face. It pisses me off to no end to be honest. I'd almost go as far as saying this strikes a nerves with me more than the WOW boyz who steal bikes and parade them up and down the street. This is a moto guy , who basically stole from another moto guy and then had the gall to keep showing up and racing a basically stolen bike ( And modified to hide the true identity , mind you) without a care in the world. Not living up to his end of the deal and paying for something he said he would.

Long story short , I have borrowed money from friends , only to have to eat top ramen noodles and eggs for 2 months strait so I could pay them back. The moral of the story is , don't take something like this and just think the debt will magically disappear.

I hope in the end , that Clason and his Grandma come clean and pay what is due to Don. If not? Take his ass to court!

Having read many of the "sides" to this, all I can add is that the reason there are courts is to resolve conflicts like this. California has a $10,000 limit for individuals seeking to recover money. It costs under $100 to file. No attorneys allowed. Case is generally over in 45-60 days. I suspect all the parties involved in this wish the small claims option had been used.

IMHO AMA Pro Racing made the right decision. The others involved not so much. Pay for what you purchase. Self-help is generally a pretty poor idea.
