I'm sure this will be popular...

After RV's short-lived effort I feel the GP championship is more competitive than the U.S. series. The depth of that field is crazy. I knew Cairoli was as good as any American champ. I have new respect for Nagl and Desalle. I've never even heard of Romain Febvre and he won last weekend.

I think the guys at the top – Dungey, Tomac and Roczen – would be competitive but not dominant. The battle for top 10 would be intense. The rest of the AMA 450 riders would find themselves 5 to 10 positions further back than normal, à la Mike Alessi, who would not be 18th in America. He'd be top 10 on a mediocre day.

Not really arguing with you as I am a big fan of the GP's but I really think the diversity of winners/ top 10 in the GP's has a lot to do with the diversity of the tracks. I think if you threw in a few hardpack tracks and a couple sand tracks in the outdoor series we might see others step up and win some motos here.

Once again, not really saying you are wrong as I agree that the GP field is stacked.
I agree with both and I do think Ryan needed more prep time for both himself his new bike and his new team. But Ryan spanked our riders pretty handily over the last few years. You cannot discount GP's top 4 speed and we are also seeing with Febvre since Italy. The parity and the diversity of tracks does make for a very competitive series. We won't have a lock on Glen Helen if Tomac, Roczen and Dungee are not up to their game...then again 2 of the 3 most likely won't show.
We need our USGP back with our top representation and throw in a so called Dark Horse - Peik for another Moates moment!

Definitely MXGeoff, while most of the article is quite to the point, he can't seem to refrain from pieces like:
"For a month the whole world was busy with how RV was doing against the fastest motocross riders in the world. For a GP rookie he did himself proud, ran with the top guys, won a GP in Thailand in a stunnig fashion and was enjoying himself"

Which sort of implies that RV until now was riding B-series stuff and at last was riding against the real/only fast riders out there.

But at least there were no spelling mistakes in there Wink
Actually, paragraph 5, the last sentence there is a spelling error. He "chose" not to do that,........... rather than "he choose not to do that". But hey it was close to perfect, right?

I'd like to know his source on "US Media". I think he confuses Vital posters with US Media.

Funny thing is you see all this American bashing and snide comments coming from Euro press and articles, but you don't ever see shit from the US press downplaying or talking shit on the GPs or it's riders.

Talk about a fucking bunch of hypocrites.

Jeez, does Geoff actually think any of those riders he listed wants to be his friend?

Talk about name dropping.

That was terrible.

RV was barely coming back from one of his worst injuries of his career and was not in shape, plain and simple.
Do you not have any school homework to do young man ?

RV was barely coming back from one of his worst injuries of his career? When? When the supercross season ended... RV
had the option of racing motocross... or getting his knee repaired? He lied & said he was racing the outdoors last year for
sure...
His knee clearly needed repaired...but he won last years supercross championship... He killed them all in Vegas
in his last Supercross race... He didn't look like he was SUFFERING from one of his worst injuries of his career...

"These guys were probably 60% when they raced RV in February and March, and with him not racing he will only lose ground. Because now they are probably 90% of their best (at least the guys who haven’t been injured) and RV will probably still be 60% due to a lack of time on the bike."

^what in the fuck

" If we don’t see you back RV, thanks for your input into the most powerful and charismatic championship in the world, the FIM Motocross World Championships. We made us better and for that we are thankful."

Can't remember the last time Dungey or Tomac beat RV, shall we leave it there?

Or shall we pry into the whole RV was outta shape, not long injured BS?

Leave it alone.
