I have compared all of these pictures to the 250sx and the pipe looks identical to me.

I don't see the big bore pipe anywhere......

My wish list would be:

Keep the 125
Replace the 150 with a 200
Replace the 250 with a 300-350 and then lobby the AMA to allow the displacement into the 450 class. Same with the 200, try to get it allowed in the lites class. Let's face it the 250t is pretty much classless now days.
I wish the thinking went the other way around.

The standards are too fast imo.

Rode a built kx500AF.... made my ESR yz345 feel like a pw50. Such an incredible power plant.

Ready to have my first Orange bike! Somebody has got to have some inside info?!

My 314CC KTM runs very well. Not too differently than a 450F. But I want a new bike that stock (on pump gas) runs that way.

KTM is pretty unpredictable, but I seriously doubt they will bring something back bigger than the 300.

Cylinder looks damn big! A 450 might shake things up a bit.

Maybe E-start...the extra hump on the ignition cover.

KTMs current offroad 2-strokes have a backup kicker.

Man I hope it is not a estart. 4 strokes are harder to start when they get hot, i see the need there and for the woods. But if it does have one, I guess you can chunk the starter and battery with the kicker backup.

Can't wait to june to see the new line-up

Im mixed on e start with the 2 stroke, 4 stroke I think its a definite, my smoker starts 1 kick everytime, I wouldnt care for it

I like the combo option.

It can come in handy for a quick restart on uneven terrain or stalls and still has the advantage of manual starting if the e start fails for some reason or gets damaged in a crash.

The extra weight to me doesn't make a difference.

I raced a 380SX (368cc actual displacement) back in '01 and it had the very best 2-stroke engine I've ever used, hands down. The '01 chassis, on the other hand, was the worst chassis I've ever ridden.

If KTM brings back the 380SX, with their modern chassis, I will be lining up to buy one.

No, that cylinder is not big.

Up the zoom on your screen, and you will see that the rear of the barrel, is in front of the rear barrel to cases stud / nut. Compare that stud / nut positioning to the current model pictured in the posting beneath it. The cylinder / crank positioning is quite like the new 125 we've seen.

It's a new engine - well hell, I guess they've figured they've got enough use / profits from the same basic (other than the shrinking of certain parts and subtle updates) engine module they've used for nearly 2 decades. The 2 KTM 2t engine modules - the 125 /200 and 250 /300 have made them a Lot of money, with buggerall changes for many, many years. All while they've developed and sold at least 9 different single cylinder 4T ( including the split cylinder and sloper cylinder 'Bergs) engine modules.

Should be good to finally see 2 new engines - the new 125 (and sizes through to 200 from it, I hope) and the new 250 /300. It's about bloody time. I'd love a bigger than an overbored / square bore and stroke 300, but I really don't think it will happen. A bigger piston is a really cheap (for the various factories) way of giving 2T people, a 'big bore', for a good jump up in price / profit.

those curves are crazy. thats more linear than a 4 stroke.
I'm a big 2 stroke fan, but unfortunately for the masses a 4 stroke is still dominant. Peak power for the 2 stroke is over a narrow range (400-500rpm), a 4 stroke will stay near peak power for 2,000rpm. Unless you're a James Stewart & can keep it right in the sweet spot, the 2 stroke won't be as effective in most situations.

Can we keep it about the topic/bike?

I would put money on KTM having a problem with development right before launch, could have been with the engine or chassis and since they are mutually exclusive, they pulled the oh shit card and left the 250SX alone for 2016.

In other news, that thing still has a carb.
