C Class at Loretta's? The premier amateur national event in the country has a National Championship for the C Class? Seems odd, shouldn't it be a showcase for the fast guys?

The OP's minset is the problem with the sport. Hopefully those with age and experience will win out and we can get it going in a more safe direction....and I'm not talking gear...I'm talking the sport as a whole.
Dangerous or deadly? Two different things.....
Thank you for saving me some keystrokes.

If you have a problem with the way our sport is being run, go play soccer... I just qualified for the North East Loretta Lynn Regional today in open C and I am trying to keep my head straight. All I see is death this crash that. I have had two of my close friends pass away from the sport as well. And I got out of the sport for awhile but I am back in and feeling good. When I throw a leg over a bike I know it could be the last time. I have excepted that.

These Below are my opinions and mine alone everyone is different don't take it to heart

1 I Buy good helmets (Arai) everything else is junk
2. I wear Good Boots (fox instinct)
3. I don't wear a neck brace they cause upper back injuries
4.I don't wear Knee braces they cause knee injuries

RIP Wyatt Bardo, And Buckshot!
Easy to say when you aren't racing these types of tracks!!!!

Coming from someone who's had the invincibility mindset, I can tell you that you just don't understand yet. Wait until you have a wife that depends on you, let alone kids. I love being on my bike and I love putting in quick laps around the track. That being said, I'm having some serious internal conflict about the sport. I feel like I'm playing Russian Roulette every time I get on the track. I ride very within my abilities, but I still feel like the highlight of my day anymore is just making it away from the track in one piece.

I used to never want to ride any track besides Thunder Valley because it's a big, technical, pro track. Well, I crashed on the biggest jump on the track and now I'll have issues with my back for life, no doubt. Is it really worth it? Sometimes I regret that I ever fell in love with this sport.

A helmet isn't going to save a life when you go from 60 mph to 0 mph and hit your head. Sorry. I'm getting a new bell Moto 9 flex when they come out but no helmet is going to protect you from everything. Knee braces are designed to break your femur (I believe) instead of tearing an acl. Neck braces are designed to break a collar bone instead of your neck.

I find myself feeling more and more like this when I leave the track. I almost hate taking my son riding. Always a good feeling when we all leave the track on one piece. I preach to him we aren't here to race. Just have fun and ride within your limits. At the end of the day nobody gives a shit if you were 2 seconds slower or faster than anyone else.

Maybe some day some of you tough guys will have a family and little kids who look up to you and depend on you and a wife who depends on you and trusts the situations you put her babies in and then maybe you will understand what all the discussion is about.

Not all of us are still 19 years old and bullet proof.

....and by the way, one of my best friends was killed racing back in 96 so I know first hand what it feels like when it happens close to you. I remember his mom and dad at the funeral. I remember thinking that I'll never ride at his house again, not because he moved away, but because he is no longer alive.
Well put JB19!

I remember that day vividly too. The first thing I saw when I turned the corner to enter the room was a familiar hat sticking out of a casket. 2 of the greatest people I knew In Peg and Ed Collins, looking like they were lost and completely empty. Worst day ever.

I'm curious to hear what Kevin has to say tonight. I have an opinion on what the some of the issues are just like anyone else does. I just don't know if there is any reasonable solutions to any of it.

So what happens when you get one of these injuries you are guaranteed to be prevented against? You are truly too immature to realize the stupidity and self-centered nature of the post you just made.

You really should take a few deep breathes and take a look at life.

Motocross isn't the only thing in life. And it's not WORTH YOUR LIFE.

Go sit down and discuss what the meaning of life is with your best friend. Then discuss what the meaning is with your mother. Then discuss it with your father. Then discuss it with your grandfather (if you're lucky enough to).

Now take into consideration that none of them would go as far to say that throwing a leg over a motorcycle is WORTH YOUR LIFE and realize nobody is upset about how the sport is run, they are upset about people losing their lives and life altering injuries like paralysis. So it is natural to question conflict to make change. Conflict being the deaths......changes being anything to make the sport safer.

And, I had no idea regionals started already. And Bressler in the results section on Mx sports comes up with '0' results. Althought, that might change in the next three days. Are you just trolling?
Qualified for regionals, not at the regionals. I was confused myself.

The OP's mindset is just a result of the ignorance age. You can say you'll buy the best safety gear and ride in your limits, but that's not going to guarantee your health. It wasn't until I started college and experienced life away from moto that I saw that moto just isn't as great as you think it is when you're younger. However, some people may not have interest in intellectual development, having a family, and enhancing their life experiences. Many people don't think about what death or serious injuries do to the person and their families. It isn't just the OP though so it can't really be put just on him.

To the OP: Congrats on the qualification. Racing motocross is your choice, but your opinions have flaws. I'm lost with opinion 2 and 4 because if you consider a leg and knee injury in the same league as death/paralysis then you have no idea of the severity of the latter. I hope you have a safe career and reach your goals. If you want accomplishments though, I can send you boxes of my trophies and plaques that I got when I was racing with the guys currently racing on tv, as they don't mean anything to me anymore.

I remember being 19 and hopped up on testosterone! Felt like I was bullet proof and knew everything! Lol. I didn't have a clue about what would be important to me at 40! Was full of fire and additude. This youngster will learn the same way we did, it will just take time! Time has a way of putting things in perspective. Some people know their limits and some have to learn the hard way !

The best thing anyone could do if they race, ride for a hobby, or just are a fan of the sport, is stay far away from Vital.com. This place makes it impossible to enjoy anything about the sport, it just reminds people how many assholes there are in the world, and how seemingly so many of them are wannabe moto know-it-alls.

News to you pathetic dweebs, everyone is entitled to an opinion, and everyone's carries the same weight.
This place hurts our sport so bad...

The pussification of America and the idea that other people should make sure you're safe is what will ruin this sport. Individuwl responsibility is all but gone in this country and this board proves that. Because the golden child of SX/MX got hurt AGAIN, all of a sudden we should change it to flat track.

Sadly, this board either does not have enough people that actually ride/race or the "bubble wrap your children so they don't get hurt" generation is here and this country and sport is screwed.

I guess we'll wait and see.

you realize this started being discussed when the unfortunate incidents took place at the amateur race last week, right? We get it, you have a bone to pick regarding Trey, but this isn't about that. Just out of curiosity, do your kids race?

I agree. This place has turned into what SX.com was and it holds no more value to the sport if it does not change.

People have no idea how to have an intelligent discussion here. They simply want to use it as a personal blog where they give their opinion and hear how right they are.
