Will people start saying he only won because Bubba, Roxzen, Villo, Barcia etc were not in it? Seem to remember people going that way the last time he won. Don't get me wrong, I like the dude and he is doing an amazing job. I just see it happening. Hope I am wrong.

Some will say because RV and Bubba were not in it. Bottom line, Dunge beat Roczen and Barcia. They were in it Round 1.

Dunge is a beast..... NO ***** needed

You have to beat the people that line up on any given night, and he's done that plenty this year. That's all there is to it.

Barcia lol why do people still consider him a threat. Even healthy not a threat for top 3 overall at the end of the season. If Dungey wins he wins. Fair and square. He won against the best that were here this year. I'm a huge stewart fan but I believe he is far from a threat as well. As for Villopoto he's retired from Ama so he's out of the picture. The Roczen deal well it is what it is he is fast but Dunge beat him this year too. So a champ is a champ.

The fact is that Villo has always beaten Dungey. But at the end of the day Dungey is a world class rider, one of the all time greats and still had to beat some very fast guys like Tomac Reed Roczen and Canard so no, I will not be saying "well he only won because villo didnt race"

Yup, and i think it is 100% true, but if he wins the title this year, he wins it. Is that incorrect?

I say that he won the championship straight up. I think in the past poto and others were hurt so he won. But poto isn't racing this series so dungey is the man.

I think when you take a look back at past Champions the thought of who was on the line at the time is irrelevant. If Ryan holds onto his lead then he is the 2105 SX Champion....Period

What has been working on Dungey's favour is his starts, if the likes of Canard or Tomac or even Reed gets the holeshot then winning might be more of a challenge to him, but its all a moot point, he has been getting the starts so therefore the wins and totally deserves it.

I was thinking about this point this morning as well. With the flack that Chad gets for apparently only winning his titles because RC was out or JS was out.

Where do you draw the line? Did RC only win his titles because he had no competition as well then? Same with Jeremy?

The fact that RV has retired from the competition makes the argument completely moot IMO and trying to lessen the value of a title just because "xyz rider" was out that year is also ignoring the rest of the field.
If CR won 2008 because JS was out then what is the value of the other 19 riders? Padding out the field or obstacles?

What about RD in 2010? Who was JS competition in 2009? Was it Chad or was James out there just racing himself because no one else was deemed worthy?

It's nut to say these championships can be undervalued because of who is in the field.

RV didn't wanna be there so he's not. Stewart hasn't been a title threat for a few years. Roczen had every opportunity to take the title and didn'T. Dungey has beat everyone that has lined up this year fair and square. Every year since racing has existed, the person that won wouldn't have if someone better had been there.

Bro! is you're context out of wack? Bubba, and Villo haven't competed in any 2015 Supercross races IE didn't start the season. Ken Roczen started the season.

Bottom line - Ken Roczen didn't produce the results needed to win the championship.

This 'wuda shuda cuda" stuff is BS!

Sure "if" he wins it the title is his. He will have earned it.
The other thread was asking what caused his improvement. Anyone that says RV retiring and Bubba being out didn't greatly help his chance of a title is blind.

The last time James Stewart won a Supercross championship was 6 years ago. He is no longer a factor.

Yah...I don't remember there being an honorable mention engraved on the trophy for guys who race other series, don't know how to fill out a TUE or crashed trying to keep up.

So does the 1 plate that JS7 won in 07 have an asterisk cuase RC retired? Reeds for RCs injury? Emigs for Mc actually signing with Suzuki?Stanton get an asterisk for RJ injury? RJ get one for Baileys injury? Stop with these stupid questions. The Champ is the Champ even if its Langston in 2007.

"Crashed trying to keep up"
Huh? He was faster than Dungey last year in SX, without a question.

You can stand up for a rider without bashing another rider.

07 title for James started the season with RC there and James beating him almost every round he was there.

Asterisk's shouldn't exist in this sport though. Even if you are on a different level than everyone, you are battling the track and yourself.

I honestly don't know what to think about folks that believe a championship ever deserves an asterisk. Every rider on the gate has earned the right to be there. Skill and just plain old luck determine the winner. I really admire the way Dungey goes about racing. He may not be the absolute fastest but NO ONE stays as focused as him. Roger probably saw that and was smart enough to know thatchampionships are made of this. He may not be "your guy" but chances are he's beating "your guy". Accept it...own it.....stop hatin'. And if your guy is JS7 or RV2 then just get over it already. I would bet that if any of you that race showed up and found that all yer major competition had gone somewhere else to race....you wouldn't decline the trophy on principle. You'd stick your tongue down the trophy girls throat (I know they don't do that nowadays) and brag for the rest of yer life...been there do that.

People should be scared come outdoors... Last year Ryan and Ken were on a another level. If Ryan stays this good Ken will have his hands full defending that #1.

RV retired from SX. Is every title for the next 5yrs or so gonna have an asterisk next to it with *No RV? He's not injured, he retired. I don't remember the asterisk on the 2008, 2009, and so on yrs of titles after RC retired? So little respect for a guy about to win his 4th premier class title. And Roczen was in this title chase and couldn't hang. He's hurt? Yeah that's what happens when you crash out trying to run the leader's pace every week. It's not jus being dominant for a couple races, it's a 17 race series. Maybe he should have known to back it down on certains nights

He won races and crashed himself out of a championship....Dungey beat him...fact. So what he won more races, Chad won more races than RC one year but lost the championship...RC was the better rider in the end, just like Dungey was better than James last year.
