My son and husband will probably kill me for this, but where do you buy a new frame or used one for this bike? My son cracked the frame and needs a new one. Can't seem to find it so I told them I would find one for them. Any ideas? ( not the sub frame)
Thanks!!

Keep checking Ebay continuously, possibly for months on end, or pony up $1235.00 (retail) plus tax at your friendly Honda dealer...it's a deal compared to the nearly $500 they want for the subframe!

Depending what part of the frame is cracked maybe take it to a good welder then keep a close eye on it.

I have a complete 02 CR250 that I'm thinking about parting out, PM me if you're interested. Nothing wrong with the bike, just ready to give up on getting what I want for it as a complete bike. See my post in the bazaar for details, it's not a junker.

Thanks for the responses guys. My son says it has to be 2005 -2007 no other will do is what the kid is saying. So the hunt will continue might just have to bite the bullet if he can't find one. Appreciate the info!!

Sorry but I'm 99% sure your kid is incorrect. All 02-07 frames are the same. Motors and suspension are slightly different but frames and swingarms are identical.

Actually he is correct. His bike is 2005 and the frame is the same but it's a third generation frame so it is actually different. I guess the flex is different. These 2 ( my husband and son) have been trying to explain this to me and they say it has to be the frame from 2005 to 2007. Yes the other years will fit but they are different. ? This is what I get when I try to help these two idiots!! lol They also told me that Honda discontinued making them so I can't even order it. I have to find one. the kid loves his 2 stroke. Welding it is not an option because we have done that already and now it's cracking were it shouldn't.

The way they weld the frame is different and so are the swingarms. She's right.

Just go buy another bike and part out the rest. You'll probably make money from doing it.

Just by the older frame. 90% of riders could not tell the difference anyways. Is your son a intermedited/pro?

Good thing I left in that 1% margin of error! I guess I should have said the geometry is identical between all gen 3 (02-07) frames and they are interchangeable... Finding an 05-07 frame will be near impossible. As stated earlier you are better off just buying another bike and keeping the parts for spares.

I've ridden an 04 and an 07 back to back and could not tell a difference.

That said, it'll probably be easier to buy an entire bike. Or do a 5th gen frame conversion.

The one above that was posted on Craigslist would probably clean up pretty nice for $300. Not exactly what you're looking for, but it'll work.

I'm guessing you weren't trying to quote me on that but it does appear RMATVMC has the frame available however it's at full price of around $1200. https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/oem-schematic/1 Definitely call before purchase if that's the route you are going to go.

The frame is discontinued from Honda, but I'm sure there are a few in some warehouse somewhere. Like cslacker said - try RMATV if your willing to pony up the cash. Otherwise, wait and see if one pops up on ebay, or sell it and get a YZ. Grinning

It's cracked all over, been welded quite a few times already. I would love to find him one and surprise him.

Pretty sure it was supposed to be a bad pun. Based on the GoPro, the kid is fast.

Ur boy goes good sure.. My lol was about him feeling the diff in the frames. I don't believe that. And what exactly does the term "pro" mean.. To me means qualifying for a pro event. Moto/supercross. Whatever it may be. not just having a pro card. Seems they hand those out like tick tacs these days.

So I'm watching the first 250 practice at the San Jose Sx in '91 and there's a guy rolling the jumps on a twin shock Husky. Duke Finch was standing next to me , so I say "You guys just give out Pro cards to anyone?", he was black flagged 2 laps later.

It may not be perfect, but at least they make you earn the right to hold a Pro card now. Wink
