Watching j-law his rookie year at washougal was a spectacle. Anyone remember when he came from damn near last to like 3rd in the day qualifier then got caught up with j-rod in the little whoops where the infield triple now is?

The thing about Jason is that he was never that great. That famous three-way battle at Budds Creek, he was just on par with the rest of them. He was good but never great even in his prime. Guys that disappear are always better in memory than they were at the time. Stroupe was far faster raw speed wise

This is debatable. J law showed plenty of raw speed (450 daytona sx) and got a lites sx championship. I think all stroupe has was a few lites wins.

edit- I also remember him waxing the whole 250 field the 1st moto of glen helen the year of his sx championship.

He used to battle with rv and dungey... 2 greats of our sport. Has a title and the amazing ride at daytona on his cv. He was great in his prime- super talented and had a really cool riding style. Take nothing away from jlaw-he could haul ass when he was racing! Good to see him having fun on a bike again.

He made the trip from New Jersey to central Ohio recently to show support at a memorial ride day for Matt Miller, a local fallen mx'er and best friend of local pro Shawn Rife. Despite all of his antics past or present J Law gained a little respect in my eyes for such an act of kindness.

He used to say in interviews how much it bothered him when Dungey beat him because he knew he was better than Dungey...Interesting the different directions their careers took. Jlaw probably had as much talent as anyone but just didn't have the discipline part down.

He's done stuff like that all along.
Half his PR win is that he speaks his mind and does what he wants. Half of his PR loss is that he speaks his mind and does what he wants.

I would love to see a comeback and maybe his friend Hanny's comeback this year will inspire him. Either way, it's his life to live.

I was at Washougal in 06, and I have never seen anybody go through the corners as fast as he was that day! he was on another level . Its too bad that we never got to see what could have been regarding his career, but not everyone is cut out to succeed at the highest level . I personally would have liked to see him battling with the Ryan's these last five or six years !

Talent is talent.

Just because he isn't using it to entertain you on the weekends doesn't mean it's wasted.

Dude if hes going to put it out there that he thinks he can give Roczen the buisness on a supercross track then he should get his ass out there and fucking prove it.
He CAN'T just run out and do that at the drop of a hat... Anyone remember his fight with Ryan Villopotto?!? well, the AMA took Villopotto's side after that happened because Villopotto is another Ginger Mitch Payton Golden Boy the likes of Ricky "Greatest Of All Time" Carmichael...and after the AMA fined Lawrence money and pinned the whole thing on him like it was an investigation done by crooked cops, He got labeled a troublemaker and now no factory or major privateer team will touch him because James "Bubba" Stewart's Brand (meaning Malcolm Stewart) is a hell of a lot more attractive to all the factories than Factory Phil Lawrence's Brand (Jason Lawrence)...

That and the fact you know... he got drunk and rolled a rental car before Red Bud. And tried to take Dungey out several times in practice at Toronto SX. But totally... poor Jlaw, the world is just against him pffft.

FYI - the also fined RV for that

After reading this whole thread, I found this post the most interesting. Please tell us, exactly how is your foreskin functional? Grinning

For once, 2wheelsforthemasses and I agree on something. I am glad Jason is having fun. I am wondering what he will do when the play money runs out though. As a family dad on a single income, my brain never leaves reality and I can't help but think of what is next for him.

Anyway, do tell us about the usefulness of the foreskin... hah!

I'm going to get flogged for saying this but Jason is almost on par with James for natural talent, IMO.

Why exactly did this needed to get bumped up?

But to respond to your statement...Jason has loads of natural talent. Practice tracks everywhere are amazed by his skills.
