Very surprised a number of you feel suspension mods are worthless. I has always got it done and have always been surprised how much better it got, even with the adjustability of today's stock setups.
1986 Suzuki RM125. That thing wouldn't outrun its own shadow. Suspension was good, but how bad can it be when I can push it faster than it will run. Which brings me to No. 2. PSI engine porting and pipe for said bike. $400 and the bike was no different at all. It was a pretty pipe though. Saddest part is I rode a friends bone stock '86 CR125 and it ran like a 250 compared to my modded RM.
Another more recent bad purchase: Scott 360 MX boots. Took all of two hours for my foot pegs to chew their way 90% of the way through my soles. Horrible boot.
As far as suspension work goes, I'm a believer except for one company. I've has great results from White Bros., Race Tech, and local tuner JDPerformance.

Hated the Iron Jaw I bought a few years back
Sold it for $950 though to a French guy, didn't even start it. He just gave me the money and loaded it up.
boots were better. Try for a week to ride with them, went back to my old Hi Point boots, which were two sizes too small.
Second would be Scott Boots (I share my disdain for these things with Original 44). My hero, Bob Hannah wore them, so they had to be awesome, right? For those of you who never had the pleasure of riding with these babies, imagine putting on ski boots and riding your bike. You couldn't feel crap. They basically shut your feet/legs out from the outside world. Even worse was wearing them and riding a twin-shocker. When you got your weight back on the bike, and the boots came in contact with the bulges on the side of the bike, it was like it created a leverage point, and it tried to pry your feet off of the pegs. Awful. I unloaded them on a friend who just had to have them, and bought me some High Points.
The only thing that comes to mind for recent purchases is one of those chain scrubber things. It has bristles on three sides and created a channel that you'd run the chain through. That thing literally fell apart the first time I used it.
Pit Row
2011 KTM350SX - What should have been a perfect compromise between 250 and 450, had no low-end, flat mid, and revved forever. To me, it was like a heavy 125.
The original Bell Moto-Star
I got a YZF400 when they came out, then 426, 250f, and about 5 different 450's along with my trusty XR600R.
Never really had any issues with any other than maintenance.. but, then I'm not all that hard on them either.
