I was racing and doing well in 99' on an 84' RM250. Something about that drum-braked wonder and I just clicked

Hoping to win a hare scramble on my 95 KX250. Its not quite as fast as my 450 but the big difference is brakes. Mid 90's KX brakes were just horrible. First time I rode it I felt like someone was playing a prank on me. Needless to say, KXF brake upgrade and my bike is ready to ride.

Im a four stroke guy and have fuel injected KX450's now. I am 100 percent sure I could do everything I do on my KX450F on a nicely set up 02 CRF450R and possibly even a 98 YZ400F if I could find a mint original bike and tweak it a little. as far as two strokes go, I think anybody who rides a new YZ250 and does well could do just as well on a 1998 model.

obviously, someone determined to do well on an old bike could compete at a pretty high level even on a nearly 30 year old machine. The machine is pretty important in the performance equation but the rider is much more important...

I think I could win on a 2008 CRF450...perhaps even a CR500

im refreshing a 2004 cr 250. i think any japanese 250 smoker from 2000 to this day is a better bike than my riding skills.

Apparently the '85 CR250 still run up front at Lorettas, leaving the rest of us with few excuses.

Since the start is so important, I'd choose a modded CR 500 of any year, with, the best suspension money could buy. That is, of course, if I could still race. (darn injuries)

I betcha Guy Cooper could win a few local races on his old works Suzuki. (I think Unadilla ran only pro's, once a year, back in the day)

It depends on how fast you are? Keyboarding does not count.

Back to the future, the only chance I would have would be to ride a 2015 YZ250f back in 1977.

Well, I'm planning on winning at least one round (hopefully) of the WORCS series this year in my over 40 class on my 2008 KTM 250xc. When the winner of the evolution class still beats me I don't think I need the new bike I keep wishing for.
I honestly think that when it comes to off-road, for an average (and even a little above average) speed guy, the 08-10 KTM's are still just as competitive as the newer ones. In 2012, on the GNCC track crew we had 2012 Husaberg TE300, which was essentially a 2010 300XC. I rode sweep on it several times and I felt more comfortable on that bike than anything else.

I picked up an 08 250XC-F at the end of 2013 for cheap and while a 250F isn't really my cup of tea, it still felt just as good as a newer one.
