One thing I do agree with though, if you're going to make this a "feeder" series, then guys need to get pointed out relatively soon. Otherwise the classes will get a little cramped with the combination of AX "regulars" and kids trying to move up into SX.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong; but, the "Lites" class is the RCR2SX race and I'm not seeing a bunch of "old SC guys" in that class...
So...
Seems like we've got the usual Whinny Bitch Ass stuff goin' on here.
Shout out to Blose, Ames & Goerke in the AX class!
It's hard to "weed out the bullshit" like 500guy says, when the system is not allowing the cream to rise.
The difference between this and Pro-AMs is the number of events in a year. Pro-Ams are essentially regional events qualifying you for the nationals. The AX series is a national series qualifying you for another national series (SX).
- The travel is much farther than Pro-AMs to get to each round ($$$)
- Limited number of events mean twice as many people at each AX vs a Pro-AM. The talent disparity is twice as bad. This is dangerous. Especially on an AX track.
Besides the fact that there are twice as many pro-ams as Ax's, anyone who finishes top 40 in Open Pro Sport, or top 20 in 250A or 450A at Loretta's is handed their outdoor license.
The Ricky Carmichael Road is narrow, short and a traffic jam. (nailed it)
Edit: Carmichael is the GOAT. And I think it's great that he's still majorly involved in the sport in at least 3 big ways. I feel the same about JS7's spring national and DM18's spring race. It's cool to see these guys giving back. Just making the edit that this thread is not a bash on him or even Feld and the AMA for trying to evolve the sport.
because they CAN NOT get a 15.0 or higher RPV for advancement to the next class.
A rider must complete the Ricky Carmichael Road to Supercross to earn their 250SX
endorsement prior to racing Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship.
In order to earn a
250SX endorsement a rider must earn a minimum of 1 Road to
Supercross point per event
weekend
in a minimum of 3 different event
weekends
in the
Arenacross Class
in one competition season.
One
Road to Supercross point is earned by
each rider who qualifies
in the top 30 for the
Arenacross Class.
Alternate riders will not be considered for a Road to Supercross point

Well I was 1 of 2 amateurs that got all 3 ax points, glad I'm done with it, and Ricky the only thing I learned from this was how to takeout

They made it way to easy to get your supercross license, anybody can make them selves an (A) class rider. self advance
say you got a 100 riders entered in an arenacross, 30 makes the field, then you don't even have to make the main. get your
1 point, do this 3 times & you get your supercross license. what a joke, you still can't race an outdoor national cause most of
them are not fast enough to get a good finish in the pro class @ Loretta or get 75 points in proams in 1 year.
I bet there are 50 year olds out there who could get a supercross license.
the odds of becoming an nfl player are above.
vicki golden did it..... lets see get her get her outdoor pro license. never heard of anyone with a ZERO RPV in motocross & arenacross
till now, she didn't even get any RPV points in B class against the boys. YOUR SUPPOSED TO HAVE a 15.0 RPV to move
up to (A) class not a zero.
how much easier can they make it to be able to enter a supercross race?
don't even have to be fast enough to make an arenacross main.
Last year, even with it being easier, there were only 10 or so that got it.
they have not even run 3 arenacross yet this year, that is a requirement.
here's 12 (3) point wonders that got their license last year (supercross) no, none of them are fast enough to get it through the proams.
lee chavous, bodie colangelo, tyler custer, patrick delowery, vicki golden, zack gurley, josh hernaandez, ron lampi, michael lang,
travis smith, tanner stolz, & shawn yarbrough.
there is no ama record of shawn yarbrough EVER RACING A MOTOCROSS EVENT IN HIS LIFE. yet he has a supercross
license & he will be racing tonight in Oakland.
also zack gurley, I take it the rest listed above will be in east coast events.
So in theory you don't even have to race once in AX, just get one hot lap in during timed qualifying, at three events, and you're good to go.
Surratt also had a pretty funny Instagram post on this:
"@jcartwright51 and I were the first 2 amateurs to get all 3 of our #road2sx points! Feels good to have that all done and out of the way, pretty sure the only thing any of us learned from racing the @arenacross series is how to clean someone out and they don't care, and now we are suppose to be ready for supercross and if we ride like that you'll get black flagged and disqualified
The system is not perfect by any means, and is a work in progress. It isn't easy to weed out the ones who shouldn't be there yet not make it too burdensome for those who need to be there.
Also, Steve Bruhn (TFS) did an interview at the Tulsa round with RC talking about the RC R2SX. He was politically correct while the camera was rolling but after.....his first words were "if you can't ride this, you have no F'ing business on a SX track". That was the round my kid (DeVillo) and Klippell should have earned their license but didn't because they were not as fast as the other riders. Lee C earned his in the same series and qualified 41st at East Rutherford; Brien Qualified 30th something.
All three also spent a year (or more) riding the amatuer AX sunday events to get ready to the Friday/Saturday Pro events because none had a true arenacross track to practice on.
You can read about it here:

The system IMO is NOT flawed at all, if anything....it makes it too easy. All you have to do is throw down a 20-22 second lap, 3 times and you have a license. The AX series is a good, and fun, series. Competition is stiff and Muye does a great job running it. Schedule used to not go to nearly as many places as it does now just relieve the travel burden for people trying to obtain their license. Look at the places on the map....the old schedules were MUCH more compacted in area.
I do get to voice my opinion because I lived it, experienced it, and came through the other side with my son and he EARNED his SX endorsement in the RC R2SX.
RC is right ....if you can't ride AX, you have no business in SX.
I see only two choices.....Get faster or get out. Flame on.
times are changing, when you don't even have motocross skills & your out there.
gurley made tonights field of 40
