Atleast they showed up.. I hate it when they try and scam you. Ya know the i'm unavailible to see it in person as i'm out to sea on maneuvers and i will meet your price, just send me your life's information and i'll gladly have my pickup agent( agent, thats ballsy) swing by and pick it up..

That pisses me off more than anything. These lowlife, no good, lazy thieves always trying to get over on the honest
man.

I have to be honest, I love when those guys contact me on an ad. I screw with them. Tell them the pick up agent price is $2000 above asking price and I need the buyer's bank info/birthdate/SSN so I can just process his payment for him (Im nice like that). They are so easy to spot anymore so its fun to goof with them. They will usually stop emailing you after about three back and forth's.

I have a friend that owns his own company and has too much idle time on his hands and spends it screwing with people giving away stuff for free on Craigslist. Some of the online arguments he gets in with people are priceless.

Priced right. I know it doesn't matter, but I just dropped $1300 in suspension (completely replacing all the internals in the fork and some other parts in the shock. It's as fresh as it can be for being a 2010.

Priced at $3500.

Had a guy show up to buy my sons Honda 90cc 4wheeler in a Toyota corolla glad I'm not the only one to have this happen. Which brings the idea put in your ad........."if I look out my window and you are in a car I won't even come to the door" or if you meet in public " show up without a means to haul and it doesn't get unloaded"

You are probably one of the guys that offer "800 dollars cash deal right now I'll come right over you'll have cash money in your pocket!" on a 4500 dollar bike

Dont be too put off guys turning up in a car. So far ive bought a Gas Gas 270 trials bike, YZ125 & KTM250 and used my car to take them home. Just take my tool box and strip them down to large sections and put in the boot. Im only going to strip it at home to check/replace bearings anyway.

Well in my case the guy rode it up and down my street left and never returned and there wasn't a damn thing wrong with it I regret selling it to this day it made a great pit bike.

Or how about the guys that mess the bike up or something and try and call you a week or two later saying you screwed them over lol

I've had great luck with craigslist so far. Purchased 5 motorcycles and 2 cars and sold 2 motorcycles. Unless the price is FIRM I negotiate the best deal I can get. There are a lot of great deals where the asking price is more than fair and I have found it easy to come to an agreed to price.

No I give realistic offers of what I feel a bike/vehicle is worth. If you don't like the offer, you don't have to respond. A couple of months ago I picked up a '13 KTM 350sxf with low hours. The guy wanted $6800 which is more than dealers are getting for left overs. I told him I would give him $5500 which I thought was fair for a low hour bike. He initially balked at it but after a couple of weeks he contacted me back and sold it to me. Had a similar deal on a snowmobile last spring. It's a business deal, it shouldn't hurt your feelings...selling I've had people "low ball" me and I just let them know I don't need to sell or just don't respond.

And the person laughing about "cash" offers. Maybe the $1000-$2500 range it isn't a big deal, but when you are selling current year or one year old bikes, not everyone has the cash to complete the transaction so it does make a difference when presenting a cash offer over someone trying to bundle a bunch of crap to add up to the dollar amount.

That does sound about right price, I'm north of you so don't know if it's the same there but it's hard to sell bikes now. Everyone is looking at sleds instead of bikes. I know it sucks but you need to take into consideration if it's worth selling for less now or waiting until spring to sell for the $3500. I try to buy sleds in spring and bikes in the fall, tend to negotiate better pricing. And like you said the money spent on suspension doesn't really increase the value.

Well there is not much riding season left and who wants to spend $3k and have it sit for about 6 months same goes for sleds. Most people looking to buy now are trying to get it for next to nothing.

I don't think some of you guys understand what a "buyers market " is and used motocross bikes are a buyers market so I would be happy to get offers because you can at least say no or try to work a deal. I am glad I am not a seller because you will take it in the shorts if you want it to sell.

There are as many shady sellers as buyers. I've been looking a little to get back on a modern bike. I've done quite a bit of driving for "immaculate" condition bikes with hacked plastics, shot chains and sprockets and worn tires. Then, they takes 10 or 12 kicks to start which makes me think intake valves. I am one of those buyers that doesn't buy on the first visit, sorry, if it's buyer beware, I will be very wary
You don't buy on first visit??? So you're one of the guys that thinks nothing of of wasting peoples time. And just to let you know, if you find something in good shape and priced well it's gonna be gone the second you leave.... You think good deals on good bikes are gonna be around the second time you come back???? Do yourself a favor and buy a new bike, you're obviously one of those NIGHTMARE buyers.

I'm trying to sell my 07 250f and having some problems. Where I am located not many bikes seem to be moving. So I might just re list it in the spring. The only people who have tried to buy it were out of state or low ballers.
Anything will sell if it's priced accordingly....You're obviously asking to much.

The NIGHTMARE buyers are the guys who come into the shop and want everything at dealer cost because they say they will be the next big thing when they get out of the novice class and they will be advertising for the shop by riding for them.

Exactly,I Have no problem meeting them at a local branch of their bank and I will gladly except a certified bank check at their bank or even a transfer of funds. I had a guy bring me a check from his bank and I had a account at the same bank and there was a branch two blocks from my house so we both went up there and took care of it right there.

When I was 14 I put my CZ in Cycle News as it was the only place to sell a dirt bike. I listed it for $850 and a guy comes and offers $750. I wouldn't sell for that I told him $825, so he says he'll call me after dinner and see if I would sell it then. When he called back I told him the price was now $875. He bought the bike for $825 1 hour later.

In 2010 I was selling a 2009kx250f. Someone offered me a pit bike and 2 mini quads of some kind when I explicitly said cash only on the ad. Definitely not trying to sell 3 more things to get the money I want.

My biggest issue is people that negotiate on the phone without seeing the item. If that's all that matters then no problem, I'll strip all the aftermarket stuff off before you arrive, how you like that? Fair is fair, no? Show up, see the item for sale and then talk money. Someone else mentioned "all cash" and the relative amount of current and 1 yr old bikes. Guess what, if you want terms, go to the dealer or your bank, I'm neither. I'm not a bank or loan officer, if I paid cash for this or paid it off, so can you, figure it out on your own. Craigslist doesn't have loan apps and if I was in the biz to loan money, I wouldn't be on fuckin Craigslist. Even on a 30k car or boat, I'm not fronting money to some guy I met in my driveway. When TLD, 22 motorsports, rockstar, YOT, etc sell their bikes, are they taking payments? Hell no and they got way more money than you and me.

One of my good friends owned a major brand dealership for many years and had many stories. One of them sticks in my mind because I was present for the end of it.

A fellow had been "negotiating" for a new bike and was going back and forth between my friend's store and another one in town.

On a busy Saturday afternoon this nimrod rolls into a packed showroom and starts yelling that "I told you I could get it cheaper" and starts berating my buddy and his "higher" price. My friend looks at his paperwork and points out that the other store charged him for the infamous, yet common in the car sale biz, "doc fee" and a number of other bogus charges (not charged in his store) that ran the out the door price of the bike up to almost $500 more than the OTD price at my friend's place.

Undaunted, this mouth breather started screaming profanity and left saying "...but the price of the bike was less."

I could see why me buddy sold the dealership....
