Does anyone know where to find a set of these amazing t handles? I know in the 70s you had to order them out of a Honda catalog. Since then they have virtually become impossible to find. They're like my giant whale and I'm Cpt. Ahab...And not unlike Ahab, I will do almost anything to get my hands on a set of brand new Kowas. Please, please, please help me out guys.

Funny they show Snap-on as their US distributor:

http://www.kowa-seiki.co.jp/english-site/

Here is the page out of the catalog. It looks like the first column after the part number is the bolt/nut size, so if you want the 10mm T-handle ask for KL-4-4

If you want the set of 8-10-12-14-17 it looks like the part number is KL-4-010 T-Box

Absolutely, let me know what he says.

I might get a set myself!

I used to be a service manager in a Honda shop in Warren, Ohio, and later the parts manager in a Honda store in New Castle, PA.

I should've got a set then!

When I worked for HONDA RESEARCH I made friends with a engineer and he gave me a set and they lasted till my roll away was stolen. So not sure if Honda still offers them or not.

What's so special about them compared to say a Motion Pro set?

I have used both and I just like the feel of the KOWA T-Handles but both get the job done.

You deciphered the diagram correctly with respect to the sizes and part numbers.

I lived in Japan for 10 years and used these a bunch. There is nothing special about them compared to the Motion Pro's. Actually, the Kowa's seemed to round off or mushroom on the face more and they are not deep well like the Motion Pro's so they are kinda worse.

What I sense here is Psychological Reactance. Just like Works bikes and Alpinestars riding gear, people think something is trick or better simply because it is unobtainable.

Who let Freud into the conversation??

Actually, now that I think about it you might be right, gat01. Wait here while I call the factory mechanics I know and tell them that they have the wrong T-handles...

Seriously though why are shallow socket T-handles better? Lighter weight. Bolts without a flange don't drop into the socket. And bolts without a flange can be installed quickly by negating the need to start them with your fingers when they can bottom out in the socket.

I have a set of deepwell T's and I much prefer the shallow ones. I really cant think of anything on a bike where I use my T handles that needs to be a deepwell

You know, what's funny is when I had my Motion Pro T's in Japan all my Japanese friends thought they were awesome and better than their Kowa's. Grass is always greener. Good luck tracking down the holy grail of T handles.

So I asked my Snap On guy about the US contact in the link. He said, "Snap on business solutions isn't a franchise." He went on to tell me what they actually were, but at this point I had already drifted off a little due to frustration. So this would explain why all my efforts to contact them in the past week obviously hadn't produced anything. At this point I'm trying to get in touch with the guys in Japan by email. If (and that's a big if since I've been on this search for years) I can get some I'm ordering a few sets.

Seriously!? Oh man that'd be so awesome. Be better if you just gave me a set for like a 75 bucks though. Just kidding! Lemme know what you hear back, FGR.

Just got an email from the American Kowa Seiki rep and he will be letting me know how to order a set. I told him that I know a few guys looking for the same set so once he lets me know the best way for him to be contacted I will post back.

I wonder if the quality is the same as it was 20 years ago. I'm guessing that the price is up and the quality is down. I hope they are not outsourced to china.

So here is the America Kowa Seiki contact that I have been dealing with:

Jamie Crockett
Jamie.Crockett@snapon.com

He is newer to the position (less than two years), so that is why the contact on the Kowa webpage isn't getting back to me. He is the correspondent that has communications with the Japan headquarters and he is the one that takes orders and deals with shipping. One detail he has told me about the logistics is to expect that a 90 day shipping period will be quoted as a delivery timeline.

For anyone else possibly looking at this thread in the future, the rep above may not have the position at your time. In this case, use the Japan email contact on their webpage and ask to be put in touch with the American Rep. They will then pass along your message and expect an email from an American in about a weeks time.

Since you have already done the leg work, I'm going to be a dick and ask, have they quoted you any prices yet?

New old guy here, I found this thread after trying to source a set of these myself. Pro Circuit does stock the 7 piece kit for $75.95 here http://www.procircuit.com/kowa-7-piece-t-handle-set.html

For better pricing they can be ordered direct from Japan at Webike for around $55 shipped depending on current exchange rates. http://japan.webike.net/products/1347662.html

I've recently placed 2 orders with them and they ship very quickly, received first order in 5 days and the 2nd order in 4 days. They offer many cool tool options you won't find here in the USA.
Some photo's of my recent purchases.

13mm add on here

4 piece metric hex t-handles

10mm L-handle

Honda stamped box wrenches

It's that they were, at the time of introduction, a new and unique thing - well, at least to the average Moto person.

You'll see here the love people have for them - I've a set (including the 2 screw drivers) that are 30 years old, I think, and I still use them every day.

Right besides them on a rack, are 3 different drive size Motion Pro 'spinner' T Bars, that, I rarely use. Weird, I know, but reaching an extra couple of foot to grab the correct sized socket from their posts to fit to the Motion Pro, is a foot or two, to far. The Kowa's 'spin' well in my hands, anyway.

Great quality, axe simple tools. How could you not love such things?

That list has now got me lusting about getting the 7, 9, 11, 13 (bloody KTMs) 19 and 21s

I'm still using the set my dad passed on to me that he used on my minis in the '80's

I have a set of these in my tool box, but I choose to use the motion pro ones that I bought to replace them. They are much bigger and I think that I have a better feel with the smaller size. I have snapped a few bolts from over tightening them in the past.

I just went out to my garage and looked at my tools. Only the 17 and 14 are marked Kowa. I actually broke the 12 and had to reweld the bar back on at some time. I think I still have one of the screwdrivers but I lost a 10mm and replaced it with a Motion Pro sometime back. My tools go back to 80 or 81.
