People think RV can't ride sand… Are you kidding me? Has anyone seem him ride?
He rides how your meant to ride sand…. Grab a handful and steer with rear…. He loves the loamy stuff.
Vital act like RV has never ridden a bike before, Every class the guy has race in, he's won.
He's dominated SX,AMAMX and MXON.
I think people are forgetting how good Villopoto really is…
He obviously think's he's going to win, otherwise he wouldn't be racing MXGP… He's not their for 2nd place….
The implications of this are big in terms of the future of the sport. If Villopoto struggles but fights to the end, it could mean a turning point in the World vs. USA MX debate. If he walks away with the title, I have a feeling there will be a few more American riders that begin to pop up on the FIM tour, and not just guys who can't find rides in the States. If Cairoli (or someone else) wins the title outright, certainly there will be doubters claiming RV was out of his element, but it will also add far more credibility to non-U.S. riders and we may see even more getting rides on American soil...maybe even more from the USA choosing to train in Belgium.
Who really knows. It's all speculation and wishful thinking at this point, but I sure am excited at the prospect of two of the best riders ever going head to head on a global circuit (save for a U.S. stop).
Do I want RV to win? YEAH....I do because I'm American.
Do I think RV will smoke AC.....No I don't!
Do I think RV is faster than AC and Herlings in the sand? ( I know JH84 is in MX2....just sayin' ).....No I don't. AC and JH84 have that shit dialed!
Both guys are class acts and I hope they just give us some good racing.IF RV even goes over there. My feelings are still telling me it's a crock of shit and he isn't leaving the USA. But who knows? I will say that if RV decides to race another year or two....I'd like to see him in the GP's , as us American fans don't have anyone over there to cheer for in the MX1 class.
Pit Row
rv racing gps will be great for everybody- i think he will get a good reception from the fans. its us fans that will benefit the most! watching rv train on the local sand tracks will be pretty cool too- hope he is there when i go riding over there next!!!
still trying not to get too excited till the press release
Indeed, there have been 6 MXGP races winners this year - and 6 US 450 nationals moto winners. And there's 2 GPs left. That might enlighten a few people. It's far from a one horse race. And, there have been massive injury rates to main players in MXGP - really, a terrible thing, especially with Joel Roelants.
As Kongols just put up - AC is no spring chicken. As much as I regard him , in my opinion, - but it's bound to get a few 'fan bois' knickers in a twist - as the best MXer in the World, - he's been doing this for a long time, is carrying some rather delicate knees (though, which MXer isn't?) and may be approaching burn out. And the depth of the MXGP field, is deep.A few riders avoid their yearly injuries / illnesses, and it will be even harder for him.And then, perhaps RV races - another worthy competitor.
The sudden loss of his dad this year, is so overlooked by so many - surely a devastating thing - and, the loss of his mum the week prior to the Saint Jean DeAngely MXDN in 2011 is something that so many had no idea about - yet, the bloke raced. Only to get a broken wrist when his bar clamps snapped off, luckily in the corner before one of those massive downhill 'ski jumps'. He was very lucky, in his bad luck, that day. He got the MXDN monkey off his back, the last few years (though, he'd won motos in it previously) He may well be 'over it'. And, I'd not knock him if he was.
But, the challenge of RV turning up, might just get him more interested than ever. It could end up as a battle royal. I do hope, if it happens, injuries do not come into play - for all riders. In another post here, it was shown how close a spread there is between the MXGP class in rider qualifying. They are seriously, seriously fast. I despize Luongos concept of limiting the amount of riders out there, in his belief that only the best should be on the track, but, there is something in making sure you have genuinely fast riders out there, not just blokes that can qualify in the top 40. MXGP IS limited to a 30 rider field, Maximum, this year - it's not coming in in 2015 - it's in place , Now. And, that prick, Luongo, ultimately wants only 20 / 22 riders out there - he thinks it should be like Moto GP. The man's a cancer on the sport.
If RV does the GPs , I'd say he'll be into the top Moto GP riders pay sphere. Kawasaki desperately want the MXGP crown. They've never got the premier series title. Yes, I know Everts got the 250s, during the time it made it's acendency, but, they still want the Premier Title - The World Championships - the Japanese know it's importance and value it highly. Kawasaki, don't need bike sales to survive - bikes are little more than a 'vanity' project for them - it's the corporate honour they crave, above all, I reckon. So, Kawi will be paying him massive $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ - Monster will be paying him, Massive $$$$$$$$$$$$$$, and, perhaps, Luongo / Youthstream will be slipping some (undisclosed) amount into RVs pocket / bank account. Though, Luongo will try not to - he loves his money, so very much.
So, RV may get an enormous amount of money. There are a lot of tracks next year, that riders have not been to. And, I'd not be surprised if RV does the GPs, Luongo gets a USGP scheduled, pronto! I'd say / hope, that might just get some US 'fans' interested enough to go and watch a GP.
But, RV will have to work his arse off, to get a World Championship in Motocross - he has them in SX, of course, but not Motocross. I don't doubt he could win, but he'll have to work harder for it than he ever has done, to both avoid injury, and win the series. He'll be amongst a pack of sharks, of the type that he has never encountered before. One weekend at the MXDN, near hermetically sealed from the world as the US Teams are, is Not an MXGP series.
It will be brilliant if he takes up the challenge. I wish him, and all the other competitors, well.
Just wait and we'll all see, but people who believe their own propaganda end up being the most confused if and when it all goes wrong.
R.V. is one hell of a rider but I'd not put any money on either result just yet.
We not counting SX cships?
Wonder many Americans on vital have been to another country? and no Hawaii and Canada don't count
Post a reply to: So RV has already house near Lommel...
