I've already said I have no problem with the guy, I just see the truth that seems to elude most. As far as me getting in on every Pieck thread, tjis is the second one.

Look, the guy is a pretty solid top 10 guy, an impressive feat for sure, but he won't ever be a consitent top 5 guy. It doesn't mean he sucks, it just means for some reason his fans horribly over estimates him.

Baker's great at what he does but what did Weimer, Rattray or Townley win with him by their side? It's the rider that makes the difference, not the trainer. And Aldon will be the first guy to tell you that.

It should be interesting to see what happens when he starts with Dungey next year...
TRUTH. Aldon is s great trainer, but he doesn't pull that throttle cable for them.

I would say Roczen won this title despite Baker, in both series he looked beat by the end. With his talent he is going to win with or without Baker. Without him his career will probably be much longer.

Was he a bit flat in the middle of the season? Yes. But he came back strong in both Indiana (when it really counted) and also in Tooele.

In the press conference he talked about how hard it is to maintain peak fitness for extended periods, and how if you overdo it a bit, it's hard to recover.
True. But to me it looked like he lost that untouchable speed he started out with. Canard went 1-1 in Utah when early in the year he could not keep within a minute of KR. Maybe it was Canard improving or KR fading? I don't know for sure from watching from the couch Smile

I look at Roczen as another JMB. Incredible talent that is going to dominate as long as he feels like it. I would hate to see him have a early career burnout due to the training Baker would put him through when I don't feel he needs that to run up front.

Yeah, but would RV have won as much without Aldon? RV was good before, but Baker got RV into shape and kept him there.

Yes, because like RC he is driven. Plus RV was in great shape already.

RV won 4 championships with Randy Lawerence as his trainer and 6 with Aldon. So I wouldn't say Aldon was his missing piece of the puzzle to pull it together.

RC won 7 championships before Aldon also.

No, RC only won 4 too, and like RV, they were all 125/250F c'ships. Both RC and RV won all of their 250/450F c'ships under Baker. IMO, they would not have won nearly as many c'ships in the big bike class without him.

Over the years I have had allot of different coach's and instructors I have learned a little from each one of them even in the worst case scenario I am sure Dungey will pick up some good pointer's along the way.

Reed in 03, Stewart and Reed in 2006.

When RV jumped to 450 his fitness was an issue according to his mechanic.

I hope Roczen can bring back the old school MX/SX days of riders actually having fun and living the dream. I'm sorry but I'd much rather watch an MC over and RV any day. No disrespect to RV the guy is a legend but it's painful to watch.

He is excellent at what he does. His methods are rooted in sport science. He understands every facet of sport science. He works with them in every area (on the bike, off the bike, nutrition, recovery, psychology) He does with work some of the best talent in the world, but he also works with the most driven as well. Slackers need not apply as it wouldn't matter who they worked with, it wouldn't pay off the same way as someone who is willing to suffer with the belief that if they do the work that is being asked of them will help them to achieve their goals.

If WP for example worked with Aldon I believe fully he would be a constant podium guy. He is driven and would do whatever was asked of him. He probably couldn't afford to pay the fee which I am sure is pricey.
Are you sure Aldon does psychology work with them? I've asked RC if Aldon did any sport psychology with him and he said all that was left up to himself. I think I've even asked Aldon on twitter and don't recall ever getting a yes.

He does promote good nutrition which aids in mental clarity and even makes plugs for a product that is a pre-workout focus enhancer. He stated he put RV through a physical assessment before taking him on as a client. Thus, one could concluded, Aldon is sort of like a ivy league university - you have to be great to begin with before you can go through his program.

Here are some other questions that come to mind:

How many of Aldon's clients have won championships, vs. the number of people he has worked with who have not?

How many of those people who have won championships, had championships before joining his program?

It's called Mind-FX and RV used it for the last 2 years and now Kenny,Adam and Dungey use it.I actually believe it saved Kenny championship winning mishap in his 1st Moto

Psychology in that when they are on the track he keeps them focused on what they are doing and why it is important. In one TV clip he was challenging Kenny about his cornering technique and told him he was being lazy. Just making them accountable in this way is sport psychology to me even if it isn't formal sport psychology per se. The old adage that you play how you practice is pretty much universal and if you practice like crap, give up easily in training, and are generally not providing your best effort that is pretty much what you are going to get on race day.

Training should be harder than the toughest race you will ever face. The week ends should be easy by comparison. I do not believe you can separate sport psychology from your daily training sessions on or off the dirt bike. From what I can glean from Baker he is in their ear constantly and ensuring they are accountable every day.
