Maybe they will turn the engine around...

How would that work?

If I had to take a stab at it, I would guess, purely a guess, that many of the changes are centered around parts commonality with the four strokes. Yamaha bean-counters see that the cost of manufacturing a wildly different 3rd and 4th model in addition to the two four strokes drives the price up.

Look at the KTM 250SX... it's a Dungey edition with a 2-banger and different engine cradle.

My guess is the YZ250 will be a YZ250F with fuel where the 250F airbox is, and an airbox where the 250F holds the fuel,(under the seat toward the rear) plus a two-stroke friendly engine cradle. if you look at that open space just around the shock reservoir, it's right where a 2-banger airbox would be anyway. the engine probably won't get (or need) any changes other than reconfigured exhaust.

I'm just wondering if all new means a facelift with new plastics and a more modern look like the plastic kits floating around or if they are going full regalia with a completely new model… .chassis etc

We hear these rumors every year and nothing.

I really hope it’s true because we have 2 options for a 125 when my son moves up from mini’s.

I feel the gap from the 85/supermini to a 250F is too large.

I agree, we hear this every year, but this year the rumors seem more substantial. 2015 would also mark the 10th year anniversary of their current gen 2-strokes.. Not something to be proud of.

The Local shops rarely know anything but one of the local dealers who is heavily into MX told us about the new KX 85 a year prior.

Yamaha test rider and a friend in the industry.

It wouldn't take much to update the YZs since they are already almost perfect performers. I'm not a fan of the front fender on the 4s.

I actualy like the shape, it's just the bend is off. It looks like it goes out straight and then flaps down on the end. I know, they will probably never make one that I like. It's just a cross I'll have to bear Tongue

If it's updated ( and not trying to re invent the wheel) I'm gonna buy one. That bike is already pretty good.

How do you figure? Doesn't that "F" on the shroud stand for 2 stroke? Silly
