Peelout that pipe is made by HGS if you want to chew someone out. Also, cracks in tight radius bends are pretty common in two-stroke pipes. the heat gathers there more than any other place in the pipe and the continuous rapid expansion and cooling of that one area causes that. Common CR5hunnit issue.

They aren't stock, per se, they are HRC in-house pipes that are close to stock. Corne' is that you? The 01 bikes had electric powervalves. guess you could say it was a prototype RC valve of sorts. its on the other side of that RC MXdN bike that never got ridden. apparently that was a Tortelli bike that Watts threw...

If I had to take a stab at it, I would guess, purely a guess, that many of the changes are centered around parts commonality with the four strokes. Yamaha bean-counters see that the cost of manufacturing a wildly different 3rd and 4th model in addition to the two four strokes drives the price up. Look at the KTM 250SX...

Unfortunately, Payton has guys working at his race shop that work for only a pit shirt, who are splicing, shortening, and modifying wiring harnesses, and connectors on his bikes to shave weight. A novel idea, however, their soldering sucks, and the first time he hits them with a pressure washer, he has electrical/ignition problems causing misfires. Wilson twice, AC once...
