All I got out of that thread was that this sport that made Jeff Ward and Jeremy McGrath millionaires is too much of a chickenshit sport for them to put their money in. They are pretty smart I'd say.

How many race teams can you think of that have planned for a season and it didn't happen? Like Newmann said, Jeff Ward's team comes to mind. This team went right up to the start of the season and then pulled the plug. How many sponsors did they have? What was their expenditures, and did all the donations and sponsorship money get back to those who donated? Who knows? I'm sure they worked it out. Same here.

You know, Charles Owens has resurrected TSM and poured much of his own money and time into building it into what it is today. He also used much of his own money to help get the race team going. TSM had some great people heading it up before him, but Charles has done more with 2-strokes and invested more of his energy and resources into it than anyone I can think of, except maybe John Perry (World 2-stroke Championships).

What about the money dude behind the whole MDK debacle? There were numerous people hanging from his nuts while his suppliers were not getting paid. Back on Motonews, the guy providing carbon fiber parts was complaining that he got stiffed for $11,000.00. Sponsors donating parts that weren't getting put on bikes, colored hoses as I recall. Seems those hose people keep getting "hosed"? Everybody loved that guy though, even got a nice big spread in Racer X. Mayor somewhere now after his company went to shits isn't he?

Speaking of people who got a nice big spread in Racer X, where's Greg Albertyn and his Diamond Capital Group these days? Damn shame DeCoster has to work into his 70's because of some bad real estate deals.

haha, , simple, no money, no team. easy to talk about having $$ and not so easy producing $$. Mx is expensive, maybe not as easy as he thought.. Give him.credit for trying, but his checkbook was not gonna get him a top rider. look at the riders that rode for tsm, they are back on 4 strokes. ,it was a novelty that got exposure.

Knife meet gunfight. Those 450's ripping up the hills of GH the other day were off the hook. Makes me wonder if those 520 series chains were a little overpowered.

Its just the environment we're in. Anyone related to 2-strokes is considered a fool, and outdated.

well you certainly don't sound like you're giving Charles credit, everything you've said has been putting TSM/Charles down

just stop, you act like you're helping but you're not.

TSM may be down, but we're not out

There is a time and place for them where they can do really well.

Pro MX is not it if you want to be competitive.

The whole TSM thing was a novelty and I hate to see a team do bad but who in their right mind would want to even ride for the team on that bike??? It sounds cool and all the 2T lovers want to see equal displacement but having one team out there isnt going to change that. It will take a lot more and I dont ever see that happening IMO

again, when 250f's run faster laps than 450's its not about the bike, don't give me that bs about 250t's aren't competitive

When you have a rider who isn't a factor on a 450, just making the field on a 250 might be a stretch. It's been seen time and time again. You aren't seeing any top twenty guys lining up to ride a 2 stroke at 50% displacement in either class.

As soon as someone hires Roczen, Dungey, RV, Canard, Stewart, Barcia .....and puts them on factory 2 strokes, you will have a valid argument.

totally agreed newmann but people saying it can't be done is just non sensical. It wont be done until $ is involved at getting a top 20 guy out there, that's the biggest hurdle. can you believe its getting close to 20 years since henry's debut on the 400?

hopefully this nonsense will end soon

Why are people hating on TSM? They had a plan to get a team going and support riders that may not have gotten any support otherwise, and some of you clowns are bagging on them for even trying! I was really looking forward to seeing these guys at Hangtown and am really bummed out they aren't going racing to be honest.Sad It would have been a stretch, but I think a 250 can beat a 450 in the hands of a capable rider, and with a true open class a 500 two stroke would absolutely be a viable option. It the tuning is right and the bike is manageable, I don't see any reason why a rider couldn't excel on the two stroke, it just would take a very different approach. While it might be a struggle initially, think how much better they would be able to set the bikes up after a year or two of experience with them, they probably could become very competitive machines.

Not hating at all , just speaking the truth. It takes alot of ,$$ to be at a high level. A underpowered bike with a 25 th place rider wont cut it. And to get a top 10 rider, you better have real deep pockets. i doubt charles has more money than a factory team., no hating, just reality.

I think you may have posted that in the wrong spot? I'm guessing it was meant for the thread with the pics of peely's pipe breaking?

Just moto talk bro. Isn't that what this site is here for?

Charles said the team would be here in 2014. 2014 outdoor season is here. I went looking for the status of the team because I am a fan. Vital has all the dirt so I looked here and found this thread. Opened it to see if anyone had anymore info. Over on TSM.com the posts indicate that Charles has been MIA for a few months and won't respond to any inquiries or posts. Site is pretty slow in general.

Does that make sense?

Maybe Mr. Honda sent a few "enforcers" over to have a "talk" with Mr. TSM.
