When it comes to tattoos, something meaningful happens in your life and then you have to have it etched permanently on your body. You shouldn't want something permanently etched on your body and then go looking for what that is. IMO you have it backwards which means you'll probably regret it in a few years.
I have plenty of tattoos and don't regret a single one of them.
I've been around moto for 28 years. Pretty sure that qualifies for some moto ink.
As I've stated already, I've got plenty of ideas..just never hurts to get input from others.

While a lot of people are being rude, it is true that a moto inspired sleeve can easily end up looking really douche-bag-esque. I agree with them, but I will try to be a bit more helpful, as you can get a cool moto sleeve that is good looking and doesn't make you look like a bro-cal kid.

Honestly, just find a talented artist. I am not talking about the best person at your local shop. I am talking about the best person in your state, or your region of the country. You might have to travel far. I fly from San Francisco to NYC to get tattooed. I would actually recommend Mike at Flyrite Tattoo in Brooklyn. He's a burly dude. No matter what artist you pick, you should send them a fair amount of moto inspired images that you like (I would go for stuff from the above, more mechanical parts, than logos, or even a nice close up of a rut or something), and then have the artist sketch something up.
thanks man. Yeah, I've got two guys that I let tattoo me. I'm SUPER picky about artists.

And yeah.. could very easily end up al brocal status. Def don't want that. Otherwise I'll have to buy a lifted truck, keep my back in the back, and not ever ride it.

OP just do what feels right you have obviously taken your time deciding and when you see it you will know that IS the one.

My mates got the Mr Four X man tattooed on their shoulders when we were 16, I didn't see the sense really but each to there own. Four years ago I saw all my Sons mates getting Woobia 22 Tats on them in his honour so I figured I would get it done as well, I then had a portrait of my Son on the inside of my right forearm and it is the most incredible tat so perfect and he is with me always.

I was 57 when I had the tattoos done and I will be getting some more of my family on other arm, depending on cost, how long I live and finding a good artist. If I was capable I would post both his picture and the tat as it is very well done. I am just not impressed by the Artist in the way he ripped my other Son off for 1k and other people I know as well, one was 10k. It is very hard to get someone good enough to match the work he has done. But he is Scum.

I'm wondering if you guys have seen any good ones or have any ideas.

I google image searched and found a couple ok ideas but nothing major.

So far I'm thinking maybe...

*trophy
*spark plug
*smoker piston
*sprocket (not likely)
*??

Maybe windham getting whipped somewhere in there
and/or a good berm shot.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

I guess I could just do a big Bear holding a Vital banner?? :-p
Don't do it!

You can never go wrong with the barbed wire around the arm tattoo.

the best piece of advice I've ever gotten on getting tattoos is get the design printed and stick it somewhere you'll see it everyday and leave it there for at least a couple of months.. it's saved me more than once haha

The dudes leg with the rear shock is scary real looking. To me that's not art it's more of an illusion. Whatever floats your boat it's your body. I have a ton of tattoos but can't justify the money anymore as I would rather spend the money on parts for my bike.

What a prick you are. Does it come naturally or do you have to put in effort to be such a tool?

What, someone's idea isn't what you think is cool so you want to degrade it? You're a fuck.

I'm so glad I have as many tattoos as I do (some moto related ) to prove everyday the misconceptions that people, like the ones on this forum, have.

OP I have the Metzger spark plug painting in the ditch of my arm, and also have the TLD Doug Henry flaming carb (both modified) within my sleeve.

To say to someone on this site that they are getting a meaningless tattoo just because he is asking for some inspiration is crazy. Anything Moto related, to me, signifies the biggest passion in my life. I have spent more time, more money, more blood, sweat, tears, hours in the gym, on the road, and at the track with family all because of motocross. How would tattoos relating to that part of his (or anyone's) Moto life not be meaningful?

I'm a professional lookin guy - I wore long sleeves at my management position for over a year before people saw my tattoos. It's unbelievable how people can meet you and feel a certain way, but see tattoos after and go "wow, I never thought you were the type for tattoos" what type? We are all the same and just express ourselves differently (within reason. Get out of here with face tattoos and piercing your face all to hell). It's 2014 people, quit being so judgmental, is repulsing and you look STUPID when you're doing it.

well said man!
I agree about when people realize you have tattoos. You can see it on their face sometimes. It's almost like, "Wow. I used to like and respect this guy, then I saw that he has tattoos."

At my job, I am dressed up as well. I went in one time on my day off to grab something and had shorts on. (leg sleeve)
People were like "WTF! I didn't know you had tattoos". ..as if you are now a different person or something.

First guy does good work, but in my opinion you should find someone that has solid black and gray work (if thats what you want) and realism rather than the traditional style. Especially for this type of design.

I don't have the guts to get something like these done.....but I gotta say , they look pretty damn cool! Very well done too! That Ohlin's / calf tattoo is something else.....looks real and kind of freaks me out a little.

yeah..first dude comes correct.
I'm doing it full color actually. And it will have a traditional feel to it. I personally really like that look, plus everything I have is traditional.

Thanks for some honest feedback and not just ridiculous Vitard comments.

The Mario G dude looks more talented to me. But I agree you should find someone who does more realism stuff, as most moto stuff that won't be stupid will be realistic. Good luck!
