Sad deal for sure. RIP little man.
TOOELE — A 10-year-old boy died this weekend from injuries sustained during a motocross accident at Miller Motosports Park.
At about 6:51 p.m. on Saturday, crews were called to Miller Motosports Park at 2901 Sheep Lane on reports of an injury during a private motocross event, said Ryan Willden, spokesman for the North Toole County Fire District.
"When (crews) arrived on scene, they assisted Miller Motorsports Park's medical crew in caring for a 10-year-old-boy who was injured in a motocross race there at the track," Willden said.
Willden also said AirMed was circling the area and looking for a place to land when Tooele crews first arrived. The boy was attempting a jump when he crashed.
Ten-year-old Tyce Olsen was airlifted to Primary Children's Hospital but later died from his injuries.
The Olsen family released a statement thanking people for their love and support.
“Our son, Tyce, has passed away from injuries sustained during an accident at the Miller Motorsports Park. To keep his memory alive, we have chosen to donate his organs.
“Motorcross racing was his passion in life, and all he ever wanted to do. We took every precaution to ensure our son was safe. We made sure he wore his protective gear in every race.”
Willden said crews responded to several calls for various injuries at the park on Friday. He said injuries are an inherent danger in motocross.
"There's dangers associated with any sport, but motocross in general typically has a higher level of risk," Willden said. "It's not uncommon for broken bones and concussions and things of that nature in motocross as an activity in general. Safety is always the key, but (injury is) just an inherent risk that comes with the sport."

"I am good friend with a family that is usually with the Olson family and would have been with them sat but we chose to go watch the mint 400 in Vegas. I was with my friend when he received the news of what had happened and he was visually shaken by the news. He was told Tycon was on his second to last practice lap and lost control over a jump and hit the face of the next. He had no vital signs at the track and was life flighted out.
As of this morning he told me he has no brain function and is being kept alive so he can donat organs to others who can benefit from them. Super sad loss of a verry talented you man and rider.

I am really sorry for the family and the kids who were at the track.
Bummer indeed.
