I have used a mantra on the starting line since I was about 18 years old and if I was to race today I would use it again.

During my formative years I partied pretty hardy.....at one small smoke out I met some people who were wanting to be Buddhist. As we talked they eventually shared with me - Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō. Being adicted to dirt bikes and MX I asked them how and when. I was told that if I wanted something I was to visualize by goal and chant the Mantra.......

Well I committed that mantra to memory. I have used this mantra on the starting line for the last 44 years! When I was racing in Germany 1973 to 1975 I would go to the start..visualize myself in the first turn FIRST and repeat the chant. In 1975 at 10 Pokal Races I got the holeshot 8 times!! When I returned the good ole USA I continued to use this mantra. No it did not work everytime - but it has worked well for me ]

Being a bit of an analytical I surmised that all the chant/mantra did was focus my strength and committment towards my goal.

If you can't win, wreck someone who can. RC
