Sorry if this has been posted before but all me & my boys wants is:

Replays! at least 5 laps worth (Unleashed)
Real tracks
Real bikes
Real riders

but most of all real championships. 17 round SX, and 2x moto 12 round Nationals!

Keep the physics like reflex.

Hands down MX vs ATV Reflex was the best for sure! I didn't really like the feel of Alive the preload feature and the clutch boost and etc... that's what pretty much destroyed the game for me , and not to mention when you come landing in Alive you come falling from the sky like a ton of shit , I believe Reflex was more fluid then alive it was smooth and you had to take control of the rider reflex if you used it to much reflex stick with too much throttle you would slide alil bit you had to be cautious, may i also add, that's why when Alive was out for awhile their were still 12 player lobbies on Reflex on Xbox LIVE ...

In Reflex you had to be smooth and use the reflex sticks to keep your rhythem , if you hit a corner right in a burm if you used alittle reflex stick and keep your momentum and speed you would hit the quad , 5 in Manchester 2 ,,, I personally like the reflex stick for preload instead of the meter preload in Alive it was garbage, unless they maybe let you use the preload meter or the reflex stick to preload to hit quads and stuff for both sides of who likes the other in the OPTIONS MENU in the game ....

Reflex physics - GOOD
Alive physics - GOOD

#1. Reflex bikes , Track designs , and floaty feel jumping in reflex were good (instead of alives game you come falling / crashing down fast like a missle which is bad and the tracks were just to narrow reflex tracks width were good just scale the jumping distance ALITTLE not alot)...

#2. Alives graphics were good!

#3. Real tracks of the Monster Energy SX 2014

#4. Get rid of the preload feature that Alive has , keep it like Reflex where you just hold back on the joystick and you make it over the jiump . (Unless of course you make the feature coming out of turns to seat bounce with the pre-load , but other then that leave the preload feauture out please.)

#5. Helmet cam (show the full front fender and the handle bars from time to time when you going throw whoops, and even show the front # plate when you get air on a jump to throw some nice whips and the side # plate also ...

#6. Physics alittle like Reflex and Alive , (Online make it so you can rub elbows and not crash like alive, and make it where you crash a couple of times your fender well get bent or handle bars , BUT this doesn't effect your racing it's just a feature to the game!

#7. Full career mode , start from a rookie work your way up to the pros , (Red #Plate online feature goes to #9 with the online points system feature till you raced all the sx tracks to reset back to 0 and once it resets you lose the red #plate till you win the first race and hold the red plate if you are ahead in points)

#8. Customize , we all would like all the gear clothes wear for our rider , all the bikes customizable to chains and tires , rims , handle bars , all the , all the name brands to make yourself stick out with some nice looking boots etc ...

#9. Online game points system feature online (which once it goes through all the sx tracks it'll reset points back to 0 same with outdoor nationals so everyone can feel competitve) ...

I would personally would build the game off Reflex coding and take some good things from Alive like graphics and being able to bang bars like in Alive without crashing good keys from there for sure and Stewarts home track was also great.

Was thinking last night about why i hated Alive so much compared to Reflex.
They dumbed it down!!
apart from the falling out of the sky like a ton a bricks when landing, the stupid preload button,
for those that said reflex was too twitchy... are you saying you cannot lean over too far around a corner? put too much weight on the rear end on a flat corner? lean too far foward off a jump? this is whats realistic about Reflex.

i hope this new game is like reflex physics., just fix the rider collisions, give more tracks and bikes :D

i think Reflex would have been perfect if the bikes felt like they actually had power and traction. the rest of the game was awesome and i still play it a ton. i never play Alive for the reasons you said. i felt like it was far superior when it first came out, but the more i played it the more i realized that it just wasn't as fleshed out. i still absolutely love the power of the bikes in Alive though.

i hated the bikes power on Reflex and not be able to jump a triple on a 450 unless everything was perfect before it. when is the last time anyone saw a factory 450 not be able to clear a triple jump...

yeah reflex wasnt perfect as far as power goes e.g. if you get stuck off the side of berm and dont have enough "power" without a runup to get back on the track.
The traction in Alive WAS good as well as the rider collisions , but everything else was a step backwards absolutely no FLOW in Alive and the cornering became dumbed down.

triples are easy on Reflex, is the QUADS that you need to do everything "perfect" which is realistic and satisfying when you get it right

Me too.

Still play it over Reflex. Reflex = going over the bars for no reason all the damned time.

Also, can we just lose the "ATV" part. Would that be so bad?
The ATV racing in reflex and Alive was awful, but if you ever played Untamed, the ATVs were WAY better than the bikes IMO. Used to throw down some nasty lines on the quads in that game!

I'd honestly be happy if the bikes handled as they do in alive or reflex both were good, the difficulty level of alive was better but the AI should still be faster, if you're racing the world's fastest then it should be damn hard to get into the top ten never mind win. A career mode would be nice as well, also I'd appreciate it if they got rid of the stupid crash scenes when he falls off.
As long as the bikes look realistic then that's fine (like in reflex).
Last but not least can the clutch actually work like a proper clutch (like mx simulator) if people want an auto clutch let them have the option of a recluse or something.

Alive had much more of an "arcade" feel to it, Reflex actually took some finesse.

I vote for Reflex physics all the way! I feel like Reflex was the sweet spot for motocross games. The only thing that I liked better about Alive was the fact it wasn't so easy to crash when touching other riders.

I couldn't give a rat's behind about real names or tracks in the game.

If I could get an editor cor Reflex I would make reps again.
There is an editor. I've imported some of my templates from Unleashed when MXGHQ was big and had more realistic SIM physics for the community. The SX stuff, once scaled realistic in the editor, matches up well for the Reflex physics.

I'm putting my vote in for more like reflex. while I agree the crashing the is a bit touchy, it was ridiculous to land on another riders head and neither one of you crash. if you tried to take someone out in alive you would just go off the side of the track. the collisions are worse in alive than they are in reflex.
I also agree that track deterioration is more realistic in alive and that's ok if you plan on riding the same track for an hour trying to get a rut in a video game. you have to speed up the track deterioration to make it work in a video game where you ride 5 laps and then the track is freshly groomed again.
As far as an editor goes they should take a look at the editing on trials evolution. It has a "terrain modification" tool that allows you to make almost any landing, takeoff, whoop/rhythm section or any other obstacle you want.

i think you'd be silly to believe that this thread won't be read by someone involved.

apparently, re this thread i really have to grab reflex off a used listing somewhere. Liked alive a lot but never got reflex- iirc it got tanked in reviews when it came out and that scared me off.

I loved SPODEBOY tracks...man such good memories. It definitely didn't help my grades in college, but hat's off to all those that contributed to mcm and mcm2.

If folks building games are listening... I have MX Vs. ATV UInleashed and Alive and love the graphics of Alive and some of the feel. It rarely gets played in my house though for one reason: When you start a career, you are limited to 2 tracks, and some really stupid short tracks. In order to progress, you basically have to spend countless hours to go forward to new tracks even if you are good. I would suggest you throw out a few more tracks from the start to bring more interest into playing the game for folks who don't have 10 spare hours just to get one_freaking_single more track to race. I am not saying make the game easy, but throw out more tracks at the beginning of the game. I have young kids and limited TV time. If I see a game taking hours and hours just to progress one single step, the game gathers dust.

Seems like opinions are divided. Personally, I think Alive's James Stewart Compound is the best tracks/gaming MX experience in console gaming. The Compound's 2 SX tracks are very hard, tight and technical. This is what I am hoping from MX vs ATV Supercross. Love the JS7 tracks. The rest of Alive's tracks sucked but if MVA SX is like the JS7 SX tracks then I'll be extremely happy.

Love the realistic sized scale.
The JS7 compound is the best. The SX and MX tracks are awesome.

Super bummers the SX tracks couldn't be raced. I'd simply like a time to set lap times. That shit is sooooo difficult! Played many hours on each track and don't think I've ever had a lap where I've nailed every rhythm the way I intend.
12/24/2013 3:18am
Agreed. Doing one clean lap on the JS7 SX tracks is super difficult. But in every way I think those tracks, that feel, that experience, is the single greatest experience in MX gaming. That is why I hope MX vs ATV Supercross is like. If it is....man, it will be amazing!

Hi guys, we're glad there is alot of interest and passion for a new mx game.
Can't wait to fill you in on some details as things come together. Wink

Just please don't make it suck. There is too much potential to make another Alive game or some cookie cutter fly thru the jungle jumping off cliff 30 second hangtime boost button kid game crap. To the insiders that are on here and if they are listening, please, make a badass game because my copy of Reflex finally gave up the ghost...Thanks!

Rainbow Studios were responsible for Unleashed, correct?

There are developers and others associated with the game with us here, rest assured. =)

I'm a big fan of using the brakes in any motor sports game, when they are useless it defiantly takes away from the experience. Some of the moto GP games used independent front and rear brakes that I thought worked pretty good. But also had a option for a one button brake also.

Ruts and lines are a part of most tracks, I would like to see ruts in turns and a advantage hitting them right and a penalty if not.

I'm with the others, the JS7 track is a great example how real tracks can be made challenging and fun.

Especially since it is back up on Steam.

No scrub or turbo button bullshit. Just fix it up a bit and it could be great.
Reflex bar none is the best game out yet. People who complain about reflex controls, in my opinion, don't know how to properly ride a motorcycle or lack hand eye coordination. When I play Reflex it actually feels like I'm riding, using the reflex stick to lean forward on the entrance of a corner and backward on exit then almost drag your radiator shroud off the face of a jump. You can throw whips like Todd Potter in reflex too.

The biggest feature in Reflex which makes it the top on my list is how you actually need to carry momentum to keep a rhythm, and when you get a feel for it you can start stretching out quads and other unique line choices which require skill to achieve not just point, shoot, drop clutch, and hit a pre load button.

The biggest complaint with reflex is the other riders. So frustrating when you have an epic battle going on and the computer crashes like a first time c rider or turns the wrong way and either jumps into the rest of the track or straight into you. They also need to make the computer way way faster. Its depressing to set it to the highest difficulty and still pull 20-40 seconds in a 3-4 lap race. Maybe they could make the computer relative to your speed, for example make 1-3 riders at least half a second faster than your last lap time or average, and then taper it down from there, also make maybe make a rider in 4-10th place make a charge to the front of the pack.

Either way a new game will be refreshing, I just hope its better than alive because I switched back to reflex after 1 day of alive, and have not played it since and have no interest in playing it ever again as well.

I agree on the brakes. Huge aspect of riding a motorcycle fast, knowing when and how to use the brakes. My buddy loves unleashed because you simply hit the gas and lean back the whole time. Not realistic, Id rather be wide open down a straight and have to lock the brakes up at the right moment to not loose momentum and not blow out the corner and then transition into the throttle to still make a tricky rhythm section.

The biggest problem concerning the clutch, brakes and throttle is a lack of modulation. With a controller it's either WFO or nothing when controlling the bike. I would think it's hard for the developers to find a sweet spot between all three when trying to satisfy the demands of the riding public.

Ye with the old ps2 controllers that was a problem but with a new ps3/4 or xbox controller they can use the triggers for throttle and brakes and then just have the clutch on a button (as in alive and reflex) so that's not really a problem anymore. I'm not having a go at the developer's of those games but they could have made the game a lot better by making the brakes and clutch have a more instant bite to them.

my question is do you really want a game that is a "sim"? Me, no, if I want to get that same feeling of riding a bike I want to go outside and ride a dirt bike. When I play video games I want it to be more of a fun, relaxing thing to mess around with buddies. I was very good at mx vs atv unleashed, I would argue the best (Im very humble lol) on xbox and PC. I still play it on my 360 on occasion, because its fun.

Since the mid 2000's I think games in general have gotten too complicated, and there is too much going on. Whether its Madden, COD, or mx games. I also think sales have suffered because of that. The video game market is not what it was in the early 2000s, yes you have some games that do well, but overall the market isnt what it was. Look at sales / number of games available.

Im pretty sure video games were created to be fun, not something you need to sit down and spend hours on a night. That is why I have never played MXSim. Im one to do things all out, so if I would play MXSim I would want to do all the races which would mean hours spent a day to be good, especially to learn the game.

I personally want to see something more like Unleashed, they could even get rid of the clutch. I would just like to play something more "arcadish" and I'm sure Im in the minority. But Im past the point of racing online super competitively, I just want to have fun. just pick up the controller and learn the track, not setting up your bike, no gay scrub master, or clutch master.
12/25/2013 9:01am
You raise a good point there actually, the last thing we want is another mx simulator. As good as it is once you have mastered it, its bloody annoying learning it and if you start playing another game for a while and then go back to it then you have to learn it all over again.
