I have never been to an F1 event, but a few MotoGPs. The speed those guys have in person has to be seen to believed, that being said, I bet some of those riders could pilot an F1 car very well...even though it is a completely different dicipline of racing.

I could be wrong, but I think it says here that Gordon was 1.3 off of JPM's time, and it was only his second time driving the car. I couldn't really read it well because I'm driving, so tell me if that's wrong.

I was there when they did this.

Jeff went off at the end of the back straight on 1 lap, but otherwise did OK.

He is a bit older now, and he couldn't hang with Vettel, etc. Neither would JPM for that matter.

a few laps is one thing , but the fitness needed to be race fit is another world. The cars arent that hard to drive (they had TC back then ) but the demands of doing lap after lap is where the difference is. That said , the list of top single seater guys who dont make the grade in Nascar is getting longer all the time , Hornish , Franchitt, Patrick, JPM .. none of them are regular front runners.

i also dont think an F1 guy could cope with a 33 race series and hitting the wall every 3 weeks either , big respect to both.

F1 is the pinnacle of sophisticated technology (and spending) for sure and you have to without a doubt be very very fit with cat like reflexes to cope with the g loads the cars can dish out and the braking ability that they have. I think that one of our stars could cut it if they had spent their formative years putting the pieces in place early in there life, racing in Europe, getting properly fit, etc. Talent is talent IMHO and guys like Stewart, Gordon, Johnson, Keselowski and the Busch brothers have it in spades.

AND......most of the races.....there is not one car that finishes across the line without some kind of body damage caused from other drivers , hitting walls and so forth.

To me.....this is the very first "car " racing that has ever got my blood pumpin.....I simply can't get enough of it! The Aussie's and the Brazilians have done the car racing thing right!

Definitely bad ass! I've seen F1 4 or 5 times here in the states. Once or twice in Detroit back in the day (got to see Senna in the JPS Lotus). Detroit was actually a pretty cool venue in some ways. The cars howling through the streets were big time ear candy. Also went to Indy three times and was lucky enough to witness Schumachers spin and win with my own eyes which was just dumb luck because our seats were on the front stretch and we decided halfway through the race to walk over to the infield section. We walked up on to a viewing berm just in time to see Schumacher loop the car under braking with five laps left and go into the grass. He didn't hit anything and kept on going to take his first of five wins at the brickyard. The other highlight I had there was witnessing the cars at speed in the rain on the speedway portion of the track throwing 30 ft roostertails! F1 is definitely cool and a assault on the senses.

Precisely why we need more road course races in the Nascar. They are by far the most entertaining.

this is incredible but makes me wonder what a Motocross racer goes through in a lap or maybe a hard hit like casing a jump.

alonso checked after 25G's

Also the device that tells the stewards when the driver passes a cretan amount of G's could maybe used in moto. just a thought.

As amazing as the F1 cars themselves are, I think the entire sport itself is something unreal. The track this past weekend was incredible, the pit crews pull sub-2.5 second pit times including fuel and 4 tires... heck, the announcers were talking about it and they showed a slo-mo of a crew actually starting to remove the tire before the car had even come to a stop. Then there is the remote monitoring of engine performance, tire wear, driver shifting, braking, etc. Simply amazing.

I worked about 50 metres from the car build area, and when they fire up , it hurts ... proper hurts.. the only thing that comes close is a top fuel dragster, that is more violent. NASCAR stuff isnt quiet , but its a different noise , because it doesnt rev as hard , and as fast.

Moto GP bikes in a small garage are pretty loud, its a cool noise , but after an hour of ringing ears , you soon get some decent ear protection sorted.

I WATCH every motorsport race that comes on tv every week or weekend,all nascar classes,all motogp classes,F1,WRC

I mean every damn race i watch,stupid but hell

Lately my favorite is lucas offrode. Pro 2 and 4,lites are ok,buggies eh

The track at reno is unsane,hitting 150ft tables at nearly 100mph, just a great track,crandon is good but the west coast has some great tracks.
