I don't race but I enjoy riding a freshly groomed and watered track with standby EMT's. I usually pay around $20-$35 depending on the track to ride. Recently some of the tracks that are having a practice on Saturday and a race on Sunday are charging a weekend admission fee. This non-refundable $10-$12 fee is for every single person that comes thru the gate. It doesn't matter if you want to ride for a few hours or camp out and race on Sunday. Furthermore because of the race on Sunday open practice is from 9am-3pm. I ended up paying $47 just for 3-4 15 minute motos. My friend and his two kids got hit with an extra $36 on top of the $105 practice cost. This is most I have ever paid for a public track day. I'm curious if this is on par with the rest of the moto tracks across the nation?

Most of my local tracks are $20-25, and each spectator is $1. I think the $1 thing is for legal reasons too, I really doubt they are making money off that. Maybe just so the people are covered by their insurance.

$25 most places, free spectators. Washougal is more spendy, but that's because they get so many riders for every event.

I think the closest prepped and paid track is $12 a day, and a $45 membership fee, or you can buy a day pass if that will be your only time riding there, for $15, so a total of $27

psh you guys are lucky I live in middle TN and ride tracks all around the AL/GA/KY/TN area and with the exception of 2 tracks its $20 per day to get in riding or not and then $25 to practice per practice group and on Sunday its $35 for your first class and $25 for every class after that. So if a family of four goes to the track for the weekend and everyone just rides one practice group and races one class on sunday thats $230 not including gas camping/hotel food parts etc it ends up turning into a $700 weekend no wonder everyone is hanging up their boots.

Don't know where you are going in GA/Al. We ride in them and practice is always in the $20.00 price range. Some tracks have went buying a membership (like $50 for the year) and pay $20.00 to ride with membership or $25.00 without the yearly membership. Neither one charges for your spectators/family/friends. Now racing is different, they do charge $10 per person for admission.

-not separated by skill, you ride all day long from 9-3 (some places open earlier and close later) with no restrictions

i had no idea that tracks actually split people into groups and you had a designated time slot to ride until a friends friend from another state brought it up. i see the reason, but i dont think socal tracks have any issues from different ability riders on the track at the same time, at least from what ive seen. im glad i live in socal because in any other state they'd stick me on the peewee track all day.

The 2 tracks closest to my house that have regular practice days range from $10 - $20 a day. As for spectators?? I cannot say as I go to the track by myself that way I don't have to listen to others whine about the track conditions or that they want to go home after a 10 min ride.

we pay 20 bucks per rider here in NE, I'm glad to pay it and more for a groomed, and watered track, I've raced for 20 years, now I'm a professional practice rider. I'm spoiled, but if the track isnt prepped, i don't ride it for any price, unless I'm desperate or it just rained.

Washougal doesn't have an open practice but they started a limited practice this year where its $40 and 4 groups at 15 minutes each with no gate fee. Mountain View has an open practice for $35 and no gate fee.

I live in ny. I have never and will never pay a gate fee for open practice. Never heard of such a thing in my 25 years of racing. They tried to pull that shit last week and I turned around and left. I pay a practice fee not a gate fee. I'll continue to ride and race on new England and not pay a gate fee on practice days. Absurd.

I agree dedi684. To the op are you sure they are not refunding $ when you leave sat. I think its common where they charge you for both days when you enter then you leave later that day they refund your money you paid for Sunday. At least that is what i come across on those sat/sun deals. Its ok by me, it makes it easier for them when its multi day and camping. Not a fan of charging spectators for open practice tho.

10-25$ for practice around here. Most tracks are ride all day, as much as you want. Sometimes they plan on a real race prep and will drop the gate all day for classes. I don't like it as much as you are basically racing and don't get as much practice in but to each there own. We have some state funded ride areas where you buy a sticker and can ride year round as much as you want. This is a great deal money wise if you don't care about just riding tracks or are more into enduro/cross country. As I get older I see myself leaning towards more of just a practice rider. Haven't raced in 6 years and the idea doesn't sounds as good as it once did but I still get the itch to ride.

I will make an appearance at any local track for as little as $25.00 cash but nothing less than that. Most tracks pay me around $40 to show up and win practice.

monster mountain, thunder valley, muddy creek, AMP (until it closed), birch creek, pro sport mx, lazy river, windy hill are the main tracks we ride at

I know the OP mentioned Prepped track which is not usually the case for our club but here are the fees;

We sell daypasses for $10 per bike, the money spent on daypasses is fully refundable towards a full family membership. The membership which is good for anyone in the immediate family costs $200/year. There is the option to earn a $75 rebate with 5-6 hours work at the track per year (weedwhacking etc.). A membership gets you a key to the track and you can use the facility anytime you like. We have a main track a 50cc track, Vet track, Endurocross and large open riding areas to take advantage of.

Keep in mind that while you are there you can ride any/all of the tracks when you want and as much as you want!!!

One caveat, only 180 days of riding per season because of winter Sad

We offer a membership for $100. You get a key to the gate and unlimited use. On race day it's $9 bucks for spectators and $25 A CLASS. We will have a prepped practice pretty often and for non members its $5 bucks.

Unless you go to Pala and have the FastPass. then there's no gate fee on race day.

I think that's a great idea. we went there back in april on a nice sunny day. I rode the jr practice with the kids because I hadn't ridden in 6 months but we counted 117 guys in the vet practice and about 65-80 in the other classes and 60--70 the minis. luckily that big track can swallow a lot of riders but when its broke down that much we didn't really get to ride much that day

Most are $20 some are 25 for practice. Most all races are $10 gate fee $35 a class.

Top End, I'm from upstate NY. The western part, west of Syracuse. There never was practice on saturday before a sunday race, but now there are 2 districts, so they started doing this to compete against each other. But, if you come to practice on saturday, they charge you the race entry fee for sundays race. If you leave after the saturday practice, they will refund your gate fees, so you only end up paying for the practice.

Man I feel for you. We spent 2 years in Murfreesboro and absolutely hated the weekend drive to AL/GA/KY. We enjoyed the tracks but not the 4-plus hour round trip in the truck. Earlier this week I read that Ballance MX shutdown so I guess there are even fewer options for middle TN.

We are pretty spoiled here in the IE; plenty of tracks to choose from open 7 days/nights a week and no organized practice.

yeah I mean thats what sucks around here is there arent really any shitty tracks in our area all the tracks are great they are just soooooooo spread out everyone pretty much has one track the ride every weekend and then like 2 other places they will go if they want something different. I refuse to do that I try to go 3-4 months without riding the same track twice but its damn expensive. And the real shitty thing is the tracks dont really get alot of growth you know? They have their guys that ride there every weekend maybe a few more maybe a few less but never a significant difference unless they have a race with a big payout or something.

I don't do too many open practices, but the average race weekend for me goes something like:

$10 per person at the gate (I think it's $20 if you come Saturday or Friday night)
$30 per class (sometimes more for A, but usually not)

If weather permits, Saturday practice is $25 for PAMX race weekends. Just about every round of PAMX has practice Saturday then race Sunday.

Walden and Echo Valley both charged a gate/pit fee just to get in, it was nonrefundable. Last year Walden used to refund you the money if you left after the open practice. If I was camping out and spending the night or came to watch the race I wouldn't have a problem with the fee. If I was camping out and spending the night or came to watch the race I wouldn't have a problem with the fee. I actually just moved back to NY from NH and rode are MX101 quite a bit with how close it was too me.

The $10 Spectator fee went away this year when NEMX took over the track. The track started to get better, too. The riding fee was still $30 bucks, but they now offered a year membership for $375, which I got my moneys worth out of by July when I left the state.

I went to Parker mx on vacation and it was 10 for the spectator and I believe 30 for the rider it was out side off Albany , fun , safe track groomed and watered the day I was there,
