Wasn't near as bad, and what new roads are you talking about? They were still the same roads I've always been on but traffic was wayyyy better

The highway...highway 14 to be exact. It's now two lanes. There used to be two traffic lights on the highway, and last year everything was diverted through two roundabouts. It was a nightmare.

Okay i remember. It was twenty times better this year. The only hassle was trying to get out of washougals facility without joining the tailgaters for a beer

Michael, For the technically inclined, what camera and lens were you using on the RV shot?

Great pics! Talk to me about the camera you are using, settings and post processing. I could stand to learn something!

Thanks all! Rob, Canon 1Dx.
Awesome shots Mike! That berm shot of Kenny is killer. I need to get back out there sometime.
Do you still have a camera for sale? My old 1D MK II N is acting up lately.

Washougal 13 FTE Pics

Tommy, I do still have the MkIV and am going to sell it. I prefer to pass it on to a moto friend. I was going to wait until the end of the season, but it's looking like this might have been the last race for me given a family thing that got scheduled up in BC for Elsinore and some prior commitments on the Utah date. Still would like to get to Unadilla.

PRM, there's long answers to those questions. Good glass is pretty key for fast focusing (wider apertures let in more light), better contrast and sharpness, and flexibility for shallow depth of field. Good glass will make a middling body perform well, and cheap glass will make a top body perform poorly. Unfortunately, good glass is expensive. I shoot raw and process in Photoshop (CS6) and use Bridge. Some people prefer Lightroom or different non-Adobe programs, and some people shoot strait to jpeg. I try to pay attention to white and black points in the Adobe Camera Raw processor for the primary contrast adjustment rather than the contrast slider. Most usually don't require a lot; Washougal is always requires a little more work to cope with the shadows and brightness, and i got a little sloppy just from sheer fatigue and had to work more than I would have liked after the fact and some still could do with a bit more polish.

Paul Buckley has a long thread in the photo forum on general composition and technical execution tips.

Thanks again!
