The toughest knarliest rider I've ever watched who always gave it his all was Magoo. I will always remember him in 81 at a Golden State race on a YZ 125 jumping to the bottom of Banzai every lap lap no matter what lime he took.

Others to mention would be Holley, Shultz and an old SoCal guy named Juan Benevitez.

Well you guys have mentioned most of them so I will throw out another pretty bad ass dude from the 70's.....jimmy Ellis.

Tops on my list though would have to be Joel and Magoo.

When his mind was in it, Bradshaw was certainly a bad ass. Not saying he was the badest, but his inspired rides should put him on the list.

RC and CR are THE most bad ass guys to ever race. Considering the amount of time they had both raced. The amount of crashes only to get back up and finish during their heated years. NEVER MAKING EXCUSES.

I'm gonna have to say Joel Robert; he smoked, drank and still could kick everyone's ass on a racetrack. A close second would be Ron Lechien. If them two were racing in the same era and on the same team, well...I'd hate to be that team manager.

As usual, I'm late to the party...

However I must give my two cents.

Bob Hannah and/or Danny Chandler, no contest.

Lots of honorable mentions, but I'll leave it at that.

A strong case could be made for RC, Reed or Hannah, but all those guys would take their hats off in respect for Roger D. Mofo crashed so hard once, he lacerated his spleen and was nearly killed, then came back 6 weeks later... and WON!

RC is the baddest motocross racer ever...dude dominated on everything he rode and rarely lost. Seriously..how many times did he finish OFF the podium?? probably only a handful.

You beat me to it, and I am really surprised more people haven't mentioned Doug.

Adolf Weil never won the big prize but finished 2nd or 3rd many times against riders half his age.
