Return of Factory Yamaha with Ben Lamay for the nationals?

"Ben LaMay, who will be riding a Factory Yamaha this summer in Lucas Oil Motocross, put together some great laps and ended up eleventh in this session with a 56.376."

No. If you believe the rumor is Travis Preston is going to be racing the new '14 450 at Hangtown, and I guess Lamay will continue to race it throughout the series. JGR and their riders will continue on the '13. Factories are known for letting lesser guys shake down their newest stuff on occasion. Seems like Yamaha will make a big push for a much larger presence in the paddock next year.

No. If you believe the rumor is Travis Preston is going to be racing the new '14 450 at Hangtown, and I guess Lamay will continue to race it throughout the series. JGR and their riders will continue on the '13. Factories are known for letting lesser guys shake down their newest stuff on occasion. Seems like Yamaha will make a big push for a much larger presence in the paddock next year.
Damn, thanks for the info Shawn. Did not know that, and definitely hadn't heard that rumour. I hope the factory Yamaha team does return, it's been quite a few years since they had a true presence in the AMA motocross scene. Wouldn't that also mean they would need to have bikes available to the public to buy?? What's the cutoff ??

As w/ you; I'd like to see Yamaha w/ a factory presence again. I think there's a rule where they can race the next year model bikes. I know Grant Langston did it when he won the 450 title for Yamaha. I'm not sure, but...I think that rule is in place. I believe Dungey & KTM did the same thing in 2012 too. Don't quote me on that though...

He wont be on a 14 actually. He will be on a former riders '13 factory bike is what he told me yesterday.
Been testing outdoors just a little and will be testing a bunch more this week.
Pumped for him and good on Yami to give him the support!!!

Factory Yamaha will continue to support various teams, and Ben will stay put under the Rock River tent he is currently racing under and competed under last year. Ben's been getting more and more Yamaha support since the middle of the nationals last summer from what I understand; it'll just continue to grow as Hangtown rolls around.

As for the bike being a turd, I know on and off the record Ben LOVES his YZ450 and it is his bike of choice to race. I also know he is excited about the extra help for the outdoors and he's been out testing outdoor setups since after Minneapolis with the guys from Race Tech.

And for the guy who said, "Who is Ben Lamay?" He's the guy who has been qualifying inside the top 15 of the most stacked 450 field I can remember each and every week. With a bit more experience and confidence, he's also the guy creeping closer and closer to the top 10 as a privateer. And to be clear, he is a privateer. Yes he gets support from Rock River but he is still paying his way to the races, buying parts, etc. There is no salary there.

And full disclosure, I'm a huge fan of Lamay because he gives it 115% everytime he throws his leg over his bike.

I didn't know anything about Lamay until that post. Thanks, I will be cheering for him to do well each week.

I feel out of the loop. I just saw this on the racerx Seattle notes dealio. Please reserve my spot on the bandwagon.

Sweet deal for a guy thats been loyal to Yamaha and getting some decent results. Ive sure never heard anything bad about him and DV likes him soo...

We need to get Matthes to do an interview with him, Pulpmx show or something .

he is riding one of the 13' valli bikes from last year according to his interview, night and day differace betweenthat and his current bike. Hope he does well.

I have been following Ben's results the moment one of his sponsors, L. Beardsley CPA, spoke so highly of him. After Dallas SX, where we got to hang out with Ben and the Rock River crew... I can't tell you how much respect I have for them. Ben is incredibly dedicated and I can't wait to see all that God has planned for him.

Keep it up Ben! Very excited to see you continue to do better and better! Smile
