Those sand whoop sections look pretty gnar. I just hope the track isn't ridiculously high speed.
There is one section that has a small turn and a long straightaway with no obstacles before a hard left hander. Unless they put another set of rollers in or something I'd be shocked if the bikes weren't 5th gear tapped through there.

Dead flat & jump filled.

Giuseppe Loungo just came in his pants .

R.I.P motocross, glad I got to spend time with you, sucks someone is slowly trying to kill you.
Are you suggesting Davey is slowly trying to kill the sport? Because Guiseppe doesn't select tracks for the Nationals! Whistling
Stan you have less idea about what goes on over here than you do about what goes on over there my old son....

Some of you people would complain if your ice cream was too cold.

I'm not one to bitch and complain about the state of the sport. In fact, my sole existence on this forum is making fun of those people. But that video was depressing. It will be a nice place to entertain the execs, though.

So there will be 2 tracks like this on the schedule in a 12 race series. Whats the big deal ? If the series trended towards all or most of the tracks being like this I could see a problem, but for now it adds a little variety imo.

I had all night to think about my comments on the new track. I try hard not to be that "crotchety old fart" that complains about everything cause it was better "back in the day". Honestly, if I lived near the place I WOULD attend simply because it is a national...with all the best riders pitting their skills against the track and each other. I prefer an "old school" track but as long as I get to see these uber talented freaks on dirt bikes...I guess I'll live with it. Also, I don't believe there is any conspiracy by anyone (especially DC). He seems pretty "core" to me and savvy enough to take proper care of the "horse that hauls his ass around". End rant.

Looks way too fast to me, no tight corners at all. Elevation is always good but you have you work with what you have.

Italy is AWESOME. I bet they have some guys riding motorcycles around Rome that would transition over well to motocross. After spending some time over there I'm amazed there are any Romans left with the way they ride those bikes in/through/over/around traffic. I saw a guy on a bike with a cigarette in one hand and a cell phone in the other flying through traffic on those bumpy ass roads. Could have sworn I saw a #222 on that bike somewhere...

motocross is not raced on natural terrain its raced on motocross tracks and this sure is a motocross track and it looks awesome. race enduro or gncc or what ever if you want to have not-fun on trails in the woods crashing in to trees and hit rocks.

Viewing is going to suck. I know Miller and the rest of that area very well. It has all the potential to be worse than Lake Elsinore was last year

Regardless, I'll probably be there roasting in the sun all day like I did at Elsinore.

I bet this track will be one the favorites among the riders and will produce great racing.

Biggest thing is that a track built on flat ground sucks for spectators. Common sense says if it's built on a hill you can see a much larger portion of the track.
I live out by here and got the opportunity to go see it the other day it actually has an uphill start and a couple other elevation changes, this animation shows nothing compared to the actual track! if I get some time tomorrow i'll post some pics up.

i had some friends over this weekend and showed them this video. the die hard younger ones whined "where are the real jumps" the older ones want to plan a trip.

pretty wild that they need a 20ft catch fence so you don't fall OFF the side of the track! simply amazing.

as far as tracks being built on flat ground, it's simple. if they get a crowd make money it will stay. if not they will move it around til it does. it's not about what the sport used to be, or should be, blah blah blah. it's business and will continue to be that way.

god forbid a hill in a track with out a jump going up or down it. and I was the guy that would jump much larger jumps at 45 then i did at 25. today, the knees and back can't take it, HS, GP's, and Enduros are the plan. but 35 years + on mx tracks and now with the way they are, well thats where all the old dudes go is to the woods, more ride time, less bull, and as much as we know those friggin trees move, they really don't. not an inch. Manmade obstacles on a Motocross track are fine by me as long as they compliment and work with a natural and testing landscape.

I think its time the promoters stopped pursuing these sanitised, perfectly manicured, jump infested type of tracks and started striving for proper Motocross tracks again.

Supposedly everyone wants to see big jumps? I could have sworn spectator numbers have fallen since real tracks started getting dropped in favour of these mutant circuits build on flat ground. We're slowly losing sight of what the sport should be about.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought I read in a history book somewhere that back in the day when real men rode real oil burning motorcycles on real tracks, one stop on the mx schedule was at Daytona.

I understand that MMP is not everyone's cup of tea (and this animated track is not what the actual layout looks like, but a very early rendering). Marc Peters has spent several weeks there over recent month building out a safe, unique and fun motocross track. Please give it a chance. We will get someone out there riding during the week of the Salt Lake City SX and get a better idea of how it all looks.

As for straying from the roots of what motocross is supposed to be all about, I understand the complaint, but we also have a responsibility to the riders, teams and sponsors who want the sport to evolve. That means going to new some new regions, with better facilities and amenities, and being able to get about 75 semis and several thousand campers, trailers and cars in as well.

This is a 12-round schedule with lots of different layouts, different textures, different areas. Remember, Texas was flat too, and it was quite a motocross track. Not every round can be RedBud or Unadilla.

There was a thread last year after Unadilla, claiming the track was "too rough", "tilled too deep".

You can not win with the Vitard Nation.

Asham woods, Frome - I'm sure you raced there a few times over the years.

DC: if you don't mind me asking, before you decided on Miller Motorsports Park, did you consider existing and spectacular venues such as Powder Mountain?

Personally I think the setting is important not only in terms of what can be done with the race track, but in terms of attracting spectators.
