It's a good thing to see and hear with him keeping his confidence up. It'll start to get better for the guy and I hope we start seeing him up towards the front where he belongs. Good job on salvaging points James!

I don't see any fire in his eyes. Like he doesn't believe what he's saying. Maybe it's just me.

Things aren't going to get any better until he gets it fixed. I rode on a torn meniscus for a while, and just going from sitting to standing is painful. I couldn't imagine racing on a torn acl. He's a tough SOB for sure. But riding around at the tail end of the top 10 isn't doing him or Suzuki any good. And that's coming from a fan. Get it fixed and take one more shot at it next year.

Yea I agree with this... in his crash where he tucked the front wheel you could clearly see he was scared to plant that right leg and it cost him. He needs to shut it down. He's too far back to win the championship anyways IMO.

I agree. There's several other pics in the past few weeks I've seen and you definitely notice (IMO) that the fire is gone. Look at the pic in this link: http://js7.com/ He looks like a kid (he's a full grown ass man) who just isn't happy. The eyes tell all. No hate against the brother at all...I'd like to see luck turn around

This week was probably a better week for him than the first two, riding wise. He wasn't just "riding around at the tail end of the to 10" this week, he was actually moving forward. He got pushed off the track by Grant and lost some positions. The front end tucking........happens to the best of them. That's racing.

Hopefully the knee continues to get better and he can at least get on the box the next couple of weeks.

I mean, the last couple of years must have been a big adjustment for him mentally. Just think, we were shocked when we first saw RV challenge and pass him. At that stage he was just expected to win every race. What ever happened to the 'crash or win' saying/stat? We haven't heard much of that talk lately. Now, he is sharing the spotlight with 5 other guys all more than capable. I still think Stewie can win, its just not a given anymore. And its going to be harder to get his swagger back in this field. Kind of like Roczen last summer outdoors.

He logged on here and searched if there were any threads about him.

Too sad to be funny.

I'm a big js7 fan...but I agree that the fire has faded in his eyes. But, that'll happen when frustration and adversity creep into the mix. For once he's having to fight to beat the guys who raised their games to beat him...and he's having to answer to that with an injury. Rough deal, but I hope that he can at least pull out some wins and finish top three when the smoke clears this year...get the ACL fixed & then come back as strong as RV2 seems to have.

or mabe hes just tired from doing what racers normally go through on race days and was just tuckered out!. couple that with bad luck and anyone would "sound and look" dissapointed.
Hes just in a new field of riders that have matched or exceded his racing ability......and to him thats hard to take.

Agree with that too...I think if anyone here has raced, then you should have some idea of the frustration one goes through when you're not finishing where you thought you could. I know I have...As much I love racing (offroad/HS), there's times (the past 2 years for be exact), I've just wanted to toss in the towel and just be a spectator..And I'm a nobody. So, imagine that feeling at the Pro level...You're used to winning, and then you're not winning...RC definitely did it right -- retiring on top!

Think one of the best lines I've heard recently was that guys who make a comeback put their bad times behind them, don't think about them, dust themselves off, and carry on with the task at hand....Well in my puny race experience, it's easier said than done.

The noise from Grant's bike made him go down! Really? How about you lost focus and you weren't racing your own race? It's never his fault and he needs to own his riding mistakes.

I don't know if it was "lost the fire" as much as it may have been "mmmmm... Vicodin!"

What is the deal with him and Grant? I noticed at A1, Grant ran it in on him a little bit. Then at Phoenix, Grant went way out of the racing line to take Stewart high right before Grant, Stewart, and Villopoto went three wide in the turn. Now this week they apparently are going at it again. Is there something we don't know about? Maybe Grant just likes to target guys with knee injuries? Remember Alessi in 09 MX.

or maybe, as Grant stated in the RacerX Open Mic, he doesn't like how James doesn't have any respect for the other riders on the track. remember, there's always 3 sides to the story. Grant's side, James' side, and the right side.

not saying one way or the other. it is strange to look up to the results scrolling and see Stewart go from 7th to 16th. he hasn't even sniffed the top 5 once this year, that is pretty wild.

i've never been a big Stewart fan and i've been pretty vocal about it, but it's just kind of sad even to me to watch him flounder around 8th. never would i have guessed that he would be doing as poorly as he is right now. hope he can turn it around and get a decent finish soon, because I don't think he'll hang around much longer if things keep going the way they are.

I think if he had got a start it might have been different his heat race was actually impressive if you look at the times...and even Poto said in his interview if your outside top ten off the jump your not doing much. I am with you fan wise when it comes to Stewart...If he gets a good start in the next few races I think it will be more telling...PS he got 12th i think and Poto had a 16th

Yeah that's true. I'm sure there's other things we don't know about. It is sad seeing him like this. Even though they are different circumstances, it is kind of reminding of McGrath in 02.

I'm pretty sure with his talent and speed advantage James could punt Grant into the cheap seats any time and any place that he pleases. If Grant is doing this intentionally he'd better buckle up, retaliation is a bitch. If I were James I'd be pretty upset that some non-contender just tried to end my season early and wreck what's left of my already damaged knee.

I hope for Grant's sake that it was unintentional.

i agree with this, i'm not counting him out at all. he is James Stewart after-all. i was just saying it's very odd seeing him around the back three races in a row.

regarding the starts, he has never been this bad at starts. look at his Heat races, he is always toward the front. always. but in the main events, something happens and he isn't even close. it was this way last year and the year before as well. it's almost as if his confidence isn't very high on the starting line with the rest of the fast guys, but it is in the Heats.

just an observation.

as for "RV has a 16th", this is true, but he also has a 2nd after an early fall and a win from a mediocre start.

He gets extra bonus from Albreht every time he fucks up Stewart`s race.
