I doubt it is ever (or very rarely) a rider's intention to mess with the leaders.
I do think the current nature of the event can make it hard to completely avoid that scenario, despite a rider's best intentions.
Should the tracks be wider? Longer? Have more options?
Less whoops? More bowl turns? Inside berms? Fresh track designs?
Less haybales lining the track? New approach to haybales altogether?
Blue flag rules enforced? Less laps? Different format entirely?
Should rider communication be allowed? One way or two way?
I would address those questions before even considering eliminating a rider for getting lapped.
would have to be so much fun in the sack

A main. B main. Problem solved.
Hell, some of the greatest most memorable salvage rides have happened with a top contender getting lapped - his jersey torn and his handlebars bent, yet somehow still sticking it out and bringing home the points that make the difference come the final. That's a good portion of what the spirit of this sport is about... being tough and hanging in there to the end whenever possible. I agree it's not desirable to see a race inadvertently ruined by lappers but most of the time that doesn't really happen.
I think more riders had their race ruined from being directly taken out with very questionable passes last year than collisions with lapped riders i.e Stewart and Weimer LA etc. Yet we generally don't call for an instant DQ in such an incident. I know that's not an accurate comparison but my point is that they can both alter the outcome of someones race due to another rider and through no fault of their own.
Effin factories, how easy do they want to make it for their salesman to put their
brand out front?
A guy qualifies, signs to race an event, he should get the whole event.]
Freakin premodonnas need to deal with them like any other obstacle,
be it a sand section, a RedBud 350 footer, or a slower rider.
Pit Row
Lappers Rule!!!!!
It drives me crazy to see these guys make the big show and then "give up" half way through the race and just ride around. I know what it takes to moto at full speed for 30 minutes but if they are at that level then they should be able to moto for the 30 minutes even if its not at the same pace as the top guy's.
When you're no longer racing and rolling everything you should be black flagged. I think this makes it fair, allows for lapped riders to still race(if they're jumping and actually racing) and makes it safer for the leaders.
No offense to Canard but he very well could have broken his femur huckabuckin in a whoop section as tangling with a lapper, that's the point i'm trying to make.
People have posted on here about trying to slow down the tracks etc. to make the racing better. Maybe Feld should have a 30 rider main to really mix up the fast five guys. Better yet maybe they could hire Sorbe to race backwards on the track for that ultimate obstacle .

Harsh point in all this that snowflakes get offended with is that no one gives a shit about the battle the lappers are in, if they did then the camera would be on it.
