Gotta say that going to the MXON is such a rad experience. I was fortunate enough to make it to the race at Budds Creek.and loved it. I've got to make it overseas for one of these events. Which track would be one of the better ones to go to?

I actually hope Herlings smokes everyone so we don't have to be on 24 hr. suicide watch for every vital member with a location not listed as USA.

Didn't RC sit a lot also?

yeah barcia looks fast in that video, but that looks flat compeared to what lommel will be like ! i doubt he will be going into corners that fast and sitting down, if he does i bet he will be hurting in the morning from a dead arse ! if you watch herlings hes up on the pegs every where, he knows how to really ride the sand and make it look easy and smooth, where as barcia is just pinning it and hoping he doesnt get spat off his bike.

I've got money on barcia coming off a gooden !

See! it's just a messy situation and there is no way we would be able to keep all the correct parties on suicide watch. Wink

Barcia can not hold that pace/ style without crashing (speaking of back to back moto's).. Haulings is above that pace.. not even getting sweaty..

Damn i'm a proud dutch man
What baffles me is the fact you refer to Barcia as not being able to keep the pace, he just got 3rd in the nationals, which you all said Roczen was going to kill, Herlings may beat Barcia, but I guarantee you Barcia will keep the pace, no problem and the US will win the overall, this is a team race.

There is essentially no spectating at Lommel. After getting bored watching one corner if you can squeeze to the fence for a while, you retreat to the infield and watch the race on the jumbo tron. The track is essentially a parking lot track (it's actually a vacant industrial lot in the middle of an active industrial park) with deep sand. I have no idea why it was chosen as a MX Des Nations track other than the perceived disadvantage to team USA ? I happened to be in the area in 09 during the GP and took my son, we were stoked to finally go see the Euro boys do their thing but were severely disappointed with the lack of spectating.
Here is the best spectating at Lommel

The sand gets pretty bad well into the moto

Again best view of the track

The fans in Euro are awesome, some crazy Brits Smile

Hardcore Dutch moto fan
I don't think it was chosen deliberately to unsettle the American riders, you could say the European riders were at a disadvantage at ThunderValley.

Lommel was chosen because its different and challenging, there are usually two or three sand tracks on the GP schedule, they're all very varied. So its hardly something out of the ordinary, it just so happens that the MXSports opt for a different style of track in general, thats all.

I'm not big on conspiracy theories so I agree that it probably wasn't some scheme to dethrone USA. It just seems like an odd place to hold the Des Nations or even an Mx GP for that matter ,especially given all the epic Euro tracks available. I was not a fan at all of the Des Nations being at Thunder Valley either , I would have rather seen it happen at a more classic scenic facility like Unadilla , Red Bud,Budds(again), or one of the PA tracks.

I've never understood how to get this keen eye on telling if someone is faster than someone else in a youtube video of them riding alone, or practicing with some other riders, but both riders of course will be on different tracks... special glasses? Lasik?

And lol at the guy making a big deal about Roczen passing Barcia in practice Woohoo

Haha exactly. Barcia does look pretty awesome in that vid and even if it's a lot flatter than Lommel on race day, he's still gonna be quick! As has been said before, a fast rider is a fast rider, no matter what. I watch the mxon to see great racing between some of the best riders in the world, who we would not normally see race each other - and if team GB could make the podium that would be good Smile

Confirmed my friend
Barcia goes fast but is riding to "risky". If he rides Lommel like in the movie then Lommel will bite him in the ass!
He is using his legs, feet, body because otherwise he goes down... You can't do that in Lommel! I saw allot of great riders trying it that way!

That was fuggin hilarious !! Smile

I think Alan and T Death got their point across, Brilliant response to the Roczen practice pass hype Smile
I'm still laughing about that vid Smile

I've seen all the nationals, you don't need to tell me how badass Barcia can ride a dirtbike. He's showing it in the posted movie.. But just LOOK at that 28 second movie.. the pace is great.. but in the sand you have to save some energy.. THAT pace on Lommel is gonna kill him.. Nobody can ride a dirtbike, in Lommel, 30+2L, like he did that 28 seconds..

Holy Shit! Can he complete an entire moto without having a massive crash? Whistling just what I thought after seeing that vid, I'm not saying he doesn't look fast

This yak about our guys not standing in the corners is a joke. If the corners are so whooped out that they have to stand then I'll guarantee you they'll be standing and on the gas.

If the Euros were racing the US would kick their ass too. Why aren't they sending a team?

Why don't you GP guys pick 3 guys from your series and we will pick 3 guys from the AMA. We can do this every year but that means we get Roczen and anyone else riding in the AMA that year. Actually, Roczen raced a GP so we can both count him if we choose. Wink . Same rules with a throw away race an everything.

Actually, Everts said Herlings was the best sand rider ever. That means Herlings is better than Everts. And Everts LAPPED RC during the MXoN in '98. From my calculations that means Herlings would LAP RC 2 times in Lommel ...
