DB, I don't pretend to know whether he is injured or not but what doesn't make sense to me is why he would he play mind games if he is seriously injured and out of the season? That makes no sense to me. Please explain .... I'm not be a smart aleck, I just want to understand.

Hangtown was different RV probably felt he could still ride until he hurt it.... Plus if I remember correctly, the injury was something he had been riding with for sometime.

No dog in this fight, but maybe he doesn't want to give JS the satisfaction? With EVERYONE out right now(RD5 just coming back??) maybe RV doesn't want to show his hand and help JS with "the decision." Lets face it, if JS knows RV is out for the year, he'll be out on that JGR YZ tomorrow testing his ass off for the MX title that would be 80% in the bag. Also, if RV is even remotely hurt, the last thing he needs is another shark in the water. Here's hpoing its all just rumors.
JS won't be testing that JGR Yamaha ever again my friend...

He tried to race Hangtown a week after tearing a ligament in his knee only 2 years ago..if he takes a few weeks to rest his leg he could do the same thing as long as he can bare the pain and he doesnt tweek it riding. If he says its torn most people would think he is crazy not to have it fixed right now.

Fair enough... Thank you. What you said goes against all the VitalMDs who say he has torn up everything in his knee and that he is done. I guess what you're saying proves that his injury isn't as serious as everyone thinks it is ... So, RV doesn't reveal his condition because it isn't bad enough to keep him from racing.
Well... I do believe something is torn, but there is a chance he could let it rest a few weeks, let it strengthen itself a little and suck it up and race. After a while it will strengthen itself to that point where he should be able to go as fast as he does now as long as he doesnt tweek it.

I raced some buddies with my ACL torn before I had surgey, I took it a little easier but I could ride. I figured I might as well ride some with it torn before I had surgery and couldnt ride at all for a few months. For a couple mill I could see Villo sucking it up.

@ outsider - probably right

@Unc - does he wear knee braces? Ive had my knee going every which way while riding with my CTi2 and I have never had any issues.

Right. Because RV's outdoor title last year was a walk in the park....Oh that's right. Dungey's bike ran out of gas and didn't start in the mud, or that title wouldn't have come so easily. But that's right, it's 80% in the bag. Good call.

When it first happened it looked like his leg was broken or popped out of joint, I thought he snapped his leg again. Certainly didn't take much. It definitely appeared to be more than just a tweak !!

Doing anything without an ACL is different from person to person. Some people can go without one, other people can't walk with a popped ACL.

That's not my point. Some people have such a short memory they don't remember Dungey being straight up faster and/or better than RV at half of (or more than half) the Nationals. They recall a different summer that consisted of RV absolutely dominating everything handily.

Has Stewart ever beaten Dungey outdoors? RD is a badder dude outdoors that most people give him credit for. At this point in his career, Stewart wouldn't last the entire summer before heading back home to hang out instead of race.

If I had to make a prediction right now, I would say he's going to miss the rest of SX and be at Hangtown ready to defend his #1 plate. However, there is no telling how long that knee will hold up during MX. One moto? One round? Half the series? The whole series? Big question mark there.

we've all been there....that looked bad from his reaction. agree with BobbyM on this one. that wasn't your run of the mill "funny bone" pain. he popped his knee. I would seriously be surprised if he shows up at hangtown.

RV has nothing to prove (he is the FASTEST MAN ON THE PLANET) and is mid career...if he doesn't tackle it now it could shorten his career. Advice will be to get it fixed and get it healed (my prediction, thats all it is).

I honestly do not think JS gives 2 shits about the outdoors. I just think since he got a taste for SX only, he doesn't want anything to do with the work required for the outdoors.

Everyone underestimated Dung because he is boring, doesn't wreck big, doesn't huck huge jumps no one else is doing, doesn't talk shit...just goes really damn fast and really damn smooth. That southwick ride last season was one of the baddest rides I have ever seen !!

Here is food for thought. IIF IF IF RV is out for the outdoors (no reason to think he really is, just feeding the rumor frenzy) Put BAMBAM on a 450 and we have ourselves a ballgame.

Thank god there are so many rocket surgeons posting here,

Why would I believe anything Villopoto says when I have the real info from you all?

I believe the "he is just acting theory" , makes total sense to me....

Did anyone hear anything today? Maybe they will have to let some swelling go down before they do the MRI. Only way to tell how bad it is. And if he did have one this morning, they have the results tonight. After 6 knee surgeries of my own I'm hoping for the best for RV but kind of expecting the worst. Let's hope we hear some good news VERY soon and all the top guys get healed up before Hangtown.

Clearly, your reading comp is below 5th grade level. Do you know for sure that RD is IN for outdoors, do you know that he is 100%? I wrote that RD was in question, its in parenthesis() but you obviously missed that part. Good call tool bag, way to read what you think.

RD? Dungey? The guy who got 6th two days ago at Seattle? Why wouldn't he be ready? What do you know that I don't?

I'm sure my 2c will clear up all the confusion.... It was a flat turn btw it looked like he went too far inside and got on the slick stuff instead of the groove. you have to consider the cumulative effect of training and riding at that level. The knee has been absorbing jump landings all season. If it wasn't a flat turn, it would have been something else.
Ppl say oh look at all the injured riders, hmm. This is going to change the game. How long are the pro teams going to pay salaries of top riders who, lets face it, spend most of their time in rehab? Yami paid 2 million for js, he wins a couple, crashes out, and is back out of the spotlight. Canard with even less results. on and on. What are their insurance premiums anyway? These are young guys. What kind of job are they going to do for the next 40 years with a bum knee? The sponsors are paying out hundreds of thousands for a rider who wins once or twice and then is on crutches for the rest of the season. Not a good business practice.

Si. I said this a week ago. Never, NEVER thought he would actually get hurt, though. Fuggin' sucks. I hope he's fine with a couple weeks off. Barcia would sure make things hard for Dungey, though. Good it would be. Smile

Other than a win in 07 and his first 450 win in 09, his hometown races have not been good to him at all.

Washougal:
06: Mechanical failure
07: First turn crash, crashed again (maybe last to first if not for the second crash)
08: Dungey beats him for the first time outdoors
09: Did not race
10: Did not race
11: 2nd overall

Seattle:
06: 2nd place
07: Win
08: Did not race
09: 1st 450 win
10: Did not race
11: First turn crash
12: 20th place

If this is true, then the outdoor Nationals are Dungey's to lose, right? Or, if you're Honda, do you bump BamBam up to the 450 class for the Nats? Also, if true, what does this mean for USAs chances at Lommel?

I'm sure RV isn't out for the outdoors. Hopefully JS will be there as well as RD and KW. CR is the only one that we know will be out.

Canard out too. I wouldn't be suprised if RV missed the first couple, even if he didn't tear anything. If he just twisted it, there's no doubt still a ton of swelling, swelling shuts down the muscles & promotes instability. we'll see, but nobody likes to comeback less than 100%.

You're right, Canard and Morais too. RV still has about a month to rest up, plus there has been no prognosis of how bad it could be injured. At least he was able to move it at Seattle.
