Okay, this is something we have been quietly working on for some time now: a comprehensive archive of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship results. I know there are a bunch of fellow bench racers and students of the sport here on Vital, so think of this as a brand new resource, with more records and results to come from AMA Supercross, the old Trans-AMA and Inter-Am Series, the Motocross and Trophee des Nations, and more....

Right on , I raced the Washougal MX National in 1985 250 class . I think I went 31 st & 16 th for 24 th overall after checking the Racer X vault ( broke the front brake caliper off in the first turn of the first moto when I ran into the back of Lecheins bike and just cruised around with no front brake. The second moto I was running 14 th for most of the race , then I think Hannah and Dymond passed me toward the end or may have been lapping me , not sure .. I didn't even know what place I got in the 2nd moto untill the AMA sent a check , for $100 .This was after I basically quit racing in 1983 , race a couple times in 1984 , then sold the bike a 83 cr 480 . In 1985 I was 24 years old , my buddy talked me into racing his bike a 85 cr 250 , I did about 3-4 local Washougal races then decided to do the national for fun . I really wasn;'t in shape and was out partying with my friends the night before . A couple other guys I know did great in the open class that year , Eric Eaton won it and Phil Larsen . We used to have some pretty fast guys up here . After that race I did not touch a bike for about 10 years . I started racing when I was 16 when I could pay for it myself and turned local pro at 18 . Brings back some fun memories I had back then . John Svensson 24 th overal 1985 Washougal 250 mx National woohoo . Thanks Davey and Racer X .

If RacerX adds the Trans-Am and Trans-AMA results, I am screwed.
I always make-up stuff and nobody can check if I am correct!

Edit: A BIG THANKS for setting up this archive! What a treasure.

Just awesome!

I've wanted something like this for years.

Very cool to be able to look up results...and to be able to search by manufacture.

Some bugs but it's going to be an amazing resource. All the Cannondale riders come up under Can Am which is kind of funny.
Joel Smets came over and raced Gainsville in '95? I didn't know that (although it lists him on a Husqvarna and he would of been on a Husaberg)

A lot of riders are listed 2 or 3 times because they had differnet addresses or used their middle initial one year on their sign up but not another. You've also got David Bailey on a Yamaha from Axton, Virginia in the 125 class at Hangtown in '90 and the 500 class at Washougal. That would of been a different David Bailey...there was one from Washington.

Not at all complaining...just some stuff I found while browsing the last hour.

Thanks for this! It's huge!

WPark, thanks for spotting those! It is a work-in-progress, and I imagine that the computer needed more info on the Can-Ams vs. Cannondale designations, as well as Smets and Bailey. We will work on all of this that you spotted, please let me know if you see anymore.

Just happened to run across it this morning and thought it was neat. Wish could see each of the moto finishes, but since you're going back to the Inter-Am's and Trans-AMA's, Thanks a lot!

Not enough information.

Need the astrology sign, favorite food, and birth date of every person ever to race a motorcycle. Any motorcycle. Ever. But then we would need pics of every one of them.... Some people are never satisfied....

Great to look through all the years and read the summary of each season, with the related historical "events" happening during that year. I found it amusing that my moto memories of each year were much clearer than any recollection of the worldwide news events during the same year.

Some great memories, thank you.

x2 ^^^^ plus enough excitement to actually get movement...

This is a bible to a guy that loves to research and write about moto.. I can't count how many times I needed just one simple factual result to ad validity to a statement I knew to be true, but couldn't fact check. Countless emails were sent out last year to get a confirmation on a result I believed to be true.. Even a couple emails to DC for a fact check.. I will say that DC always amazingly had the answer I needed.. Haha!

Thank you DC and all the people it took to put this together.. I will have this site permanently up..

As crazy as it sounds I may actually agree with that (what some would say) grossly overstated praise.. Woohoo

Dan, As much respect as i have for your noble thoughts on adding validity to a statement............i think the finest use for this fantastic tool will be calling out my old friends on results from back in the day that were very difficult to verify until now !!!

Thank you DC.....for us older Vital members you have provided the gateway to memory lane.

I hope that it will work well on my mobile device so i can try to keep up with the trivia Buydos has in his memory bank.
