Did Marty Tripes race with the weight on? I know that JoJo Keller did and despite his size, he is still fast.

Weston Piek, Ken de Dyker and Joel Robert were all big dudes, not fat. Marty Tripes was fat.

In the boxing world, they always clarify that some tiny little punk is "pound for pound, the best fighter in the world". Well, in our sport, the smaller you are, the more of an advantage you have. Therefore, who is the pound for pound, fattest and fastest fat ass in the world?

I'm wondering because I am pretty fat and I think it might be me.
Jojo Keller, when he came out of retirement, qualified and scored a top ten finish in 1993 at Unadilla on a YZ250 .

That was the crazy event with the dust and the heat.

I am pretty sure he was easily 225-250 or more. He has to have been the largest rider to have scored a top ten position, and on a one time ride, no less.

Although lean in his racing days. The Dogger is a big dude @ 220 lbs & still very smooth & fast.

Jo Jo Keller, Marty Tripes were both pretty heavy in the middle of their careers and super fast. A lot of other have gotten fat after their careers were over and could still haul i.e. Ron Lechein.
Damn how could I forget Jo Jo! He wasn't the fastest fatguy but he was healthy. Saw him roaming the parking area at the Dilla MXDN and Jo Jo was great to bs with.

Pound for pound!

You either have works suspension or need bigger springs. Ride on brother. The problem with pound for pound is it that the fatter you are the faster you have to be. And from a "healthy" rider to another glad to see you out there. Hopefully my recent back surgery will eventually allow me to get back out there.

Isn't Joel Smets a pretty big dude? I think I remember seeing pics of him on the RMZ 450 proto and he made it look like a mini. Of course he's not fat though.

No doubt Jo jo.

The last year he raced the WInter-AMA series he had to go 250 lbs.

He couldn't even keep his jersey tucked in, front or back.

And he still ran with Hannah, Dowd, and a bunch of other fast guys.

Watching him race at Diamond back would make you want to call peta for what he did to that poor, misfortunate, massively abused motorcycle.
