I dunno, innovation is neat, but the package they have right now is pretty darn good.

I doubt that's 2013. That looks like the Japanese series where experimental things are often tried. Don't know what adding an extra foot to the exhaust would do, but the cylinder, head & aluminum tank look pretty trick.

this is the reason why martin-honda is the factory honda team ......
its up to them to work directly with japan and find out the best way to go with their bikes........
the exhaust system is one of the crucial components on the race bikes these days, being able to pass sound test without loosing any power is in fact a mission for the mx teams.....
i guess the production rule that ama imposes makes it easyer for us teams, they only have to fine tune what the factory produces......not much experiment work for them........

This happens every year, like when Transworld go to Japan and take pictures of their factory bikes running random exotic new stuff. Non of it ever makes it to production Wink . Like when Honda ran their downhill bikes in the world championships, they have never made a mountain bike for retail, it was all just for testing

Look how big the silencer is, if they didn't wrap the header like that it would sticking way out the back like a wheelie bar

It's compressing the pipe into a shorter area, allowing the exhaust canister to be closer to the center of mass. By the way, really love that color scheme.

Ahhhh " Im going to sort of uhhh (hand twisting fmo side go side)....disss-agree with you on that "Peter"") A lot of teams even honda have ran alu-mini-uuum tanks for years and have never made them as a production part as i really dig them and would love to see them on a bike as an OEM part...................yet suzuki is the only one with the stones to run then on production models ....I wish they all did, That would be so kick-ass! Aluminium tanks are so much cooler than black rims IMO.....I mean if I ever bought a new bile again id be "super pumped" to have that as an option. That is just IMO of course Smile

Looks like 4 strokes trying to be 2 strokes with all the bends in the pipe lol. On the other hand except the price of an aftermarket pipe be like $1500 if they go with this design.

I don't know about this design... but if they have changed the mellow CRF motor and turned it into a monster motor, maybe a mile of head pipe with a very long silencer is the only way to make it quiet enough for it to be sold here. I guess long and low back pressure could be a way to solve both issuses at once. Head design is quite different also. Gotta give them points for trying something new. I like 'Yamaha's radical aproach to more power, and you watch they will dial the handling issue next. And Yamaha has kept the reliabity thing strong also. Geez my 07 is coming up on 400 hrs with only 2 rebuilds. The next few years should yield some pretty interesting ideas. Look at Kawi using the 2 injector program to make more power, borrowed from street bikes. It will be a very cool future for sure!!! Smile

Seems like the pipe would make a lot of heat on the radiator, since it is dircetly beneath it. Looks pretty much the same, except for the pipe. Where's the gascap on that thing?

I was just joking Smile Wish I could justify dropping the 9k on a new bike but I keep finding several model year old brand new bikes for pennies on the dollar of what they sold for at the dealer. I'll probably get a new 2013 in 2016.
