whats a a good $200-250 adult moto boot - is the alpine star tech 3 or tech 7 any good? r the fox comp 5 or maybe gaerne, thor? i like the soles of the alpine star - any strong recomendations? where should i look online?

Tcx are the way to go and you probably won't have to buy another pair, and super comfortable so you probably won't want another pair

A good 200 dollar boot.

Sounds like something similiar to when customers come into my shop asking for a $200 computer but wants it to be fast.

You get what you pay for my friend.

SG10's or something similiar. they will last forever

I have a used pair of size 12 tech 10's about 5 years old with some of the soles left on them and most of the buckles for exactly $200. PM me Oh I forgot, they used to be gray/red but I used them to tar my driveway so now they are a real cool flat black.

Contrary to popular belief, you can get a high quality boot for $200. These $200 boots have 200 hours of moto on them.

sixsixone flight boots are pretty nice IMO for a lower priced boot.

I have a a pair of Gaerne SG10s size 10 for sale. They are very lightly used, i'm guessing about 20 hours or less. They are the white 2010 models. A friend gave these to me because he was getting out of MX but I don't wear them because I have some custom ankle braces fitted to my Astars. Let me know if you want to work out a deal. I could do $200 shipped to your door if that interests you?

I've had my sg10s since 2008 and the sole has barely worn down. My buddy is on his 2nd or 3rd pair of tech 10s in a few years. Alpinestars may fit well, but they wear out fast.

I have worn a pair of Tech 7's the past two years and have had no problems. Used to wear Tech 8's but actually think the Tech 7's are more comfortable. Personally, I think the 7 is damn close to the 10 in craftsmanship if not the same but costs half.

I have a pair of SG-10's from 2004 when they first came out. They have a crazy amount of hard riding on them but are still in pretty good shape. I have another pair from 2006, same deal. They are great boots. Very comfortable, very supportive, and very durable.

I bought a "worn once" pair of Aplinestar Tech 8's for $130 shipped on ebay. Maybe the best moto deal I've ever found. Be sure to shop around no matter what brand you want.

I'm guessing if a guy is asking for $200 boots, steering him toward $500 boots probably isn't the recommendation he's looking for.

CamP probably has the right idea with those Gaernes. I bought a pair of those new on eBay once for $185 (but they were too big, so I ended up buying what I really wanted, TCXs, but even those were $275 and they are fantastic - my third pair).

If you're a 10 by chance, this is a great deal on eBay

I've had two pairs of those and they last a long time with consistent, great support.

Gaerne GX-1s are the only sub-$200 boot still made in Europe. For apparel, country of origin does not really matter, but in footwear the Italians still hold an advantage, especially in the lasting (which controls the fit). You'll see this if you look at the area where the foot transitions to the leg, some boots get really thick there, and the extra material means more to fold and crease.

Those GX-1s are a less modern look, but better materials, fit, and quality.

very hard to buy boots online. I attempted to buy TCX's my last go round but had little luck locating them...I ended up with the AXO Prime on a steal for under $100. Been happy with them so far. They are allegedly designed by the guy that used to work for Alpinestars.

Baja 1000, FMF Industry Ride, Rockstar Baja Ride and 8 days of the Rip to the Tip = Waaaaay more use than most boots will ever see.

I ran a set of Fox Comp 5's jus' to see how they'd do.

Impressive...excellent product for $129.95 (The Vortex version is currently on sale for that!)

You're gonna spend $400 to get a better boot.

I love my Tech 7's. First pair of alpinestars and I've been happy with them. Super comfortable, and the break in was very short. I've heard horror stories about their durability...I'll just have to wait and see on that. But for what I paid? If I get a season or two out of them, I'll consider it money well spent.

After years of running the premium boots I figured I would give the Fox Comp 5 a shot because they were cheap. They fit good(sizing seems to run a little small) and have worn well over the last 3 months. So far I wouldn't hesitate recommending them. Another guy I know bought the GX-1 at the same time and is very happy as well.

Bought a Shift combo pack and obviously got some cheap boots... crashed one time fairly good and actually bruised / scraped both of my shins.... wierd, never had that happended before.

Bought today some slightly used Tech 8's for $200 and can already see how much protection you / comfort you get with a quality boot. Bought mine off craigslist.

Never, ever buy used boots. Boots break in and mold to the user like a pair of jeans.

Do you know how the sizing is compared to Tech 8's? I've been in Tech 8's for a looong time and am ready to switch. They are a size bigger than my shoe size and was wondering if the GX-1's are the same way. Thanks
