Chuckie108 is spot on. CMC Golden States were as big as a National back then, it was crazy how many entries there would be in the opening rounds of the series. Both tracks would be packed all day. Stu ran an awesome program. There are also tons of GP trails in the hills, I was more into moto, but the GP's I did there were a blast. Here's a soso pic of Animal Leap from 1989. If you went straight instead of turning right at Talladega, that's basically where it was. I wish i still had that custom painted JT...

Here's some history: Originally opened in the 70's as Arroyo Cycle Park in the same location as the Vet/REM/Arroyo track is at now. I believe it only ran for a few years. Then at some point, Bud gets the lease in the 80's and opens a sand drag strip which was located where it says "Glen Helen Raceway" on brocster's map above. If you look at it, you can still see how the layout was built around the drag strip. This area is used for parking now and as the pits for the endurance series. Around this time, they also...

I have done the VIP at Pala for 4 years straight and feel it’s worth every cent. My suggestion is to get to the track early, 7-8am. Find a spot in the VIP section at the front and park the chairs you need up against the fence for the best viewing. Once the races start you will have the hundred or so patrons crowding the fence and its best to be in the front by the chainlink. I grab the far right or left corners so you don’t have people crowding you from both sides. Those spots will be n...

Bruce or Dan? Or both?….knowing Kawi they will probably let Dan go as the scapegoat and keep the real problem in place….

I’m no modern day chassis expert, but this was told to me from someone 100% involved. The leaders of the team don’t want to mess with the chassis, or the rake and trail. They said when the bike is on a test track with other Kawasaki’s, it’s a fantastic bike, but once you throw in other bikes cutting in different grooves and ruts, the cornering and feel goes away. It doesn’t want to track through the ruts. Like I have said before, KYB wanted to make chassis adjustments with Eli, they were told nope. Gilly was fired because he was...

It can easily be both. Steeper head angle and the bike is twitchy at turn in, unstable in the middle, and then over steers on exit of the corner. Essentially super touchy without continued flow through the corner. When you watch Chase his two largest hangups appear to be corners and whoops. Corners he has a hitch in the apex and almost has to turn twice unless it is a sweeping corner.

It isn't that simple as the bikes have a window, and it could work in one condition over another. Just because someone "made" it work doesn't mean it works "well". If you go back and look at Tomac on the Kawi it is clear to see how choppered out his bike is compared to the Yamaha and KTM that he was able to direct the setup on. When you have multiple instances of riders complaining of comfort and the team unable to find the sweat spot, you need to look at the continued issue and not just a rider looking...

That type of attitude is what kawi has had for years. “RV won on it so what’s the problem?” “We know what works” “you won a hardpack concrete sx on it where the leader was in title mode , so you should be fine everywhere” I don’t know man, hard to give them any credit with the huge amount of evidence that says they can’t set up a bike, are too rigid, and too corporate. They let the head honchos make the decisions the guys on the floor should be making. And it shows.

This is a great point. If we expect our kids -- who, after all, haven't been on this planet that long -- to practice safe riding, even when riding and racing motocross bikes, a large part of it has to come from us. When my son was first starting to ride his 50, I endlessly reminded him that we ride for fun, and that going to the hospital is not fun. It didn't prevent every crash (or even a hospital visit -- that was not his fault), but I think it planted in his noggin the idea that he is...

My son and I had this discussion on the way to the track on Friday and I firmly believe that the bikes with all their hp and capabilities have exceeded what the most fit human body can withstand in the event of an accident. We are built to take a certain amount of abuse as a human and be “ok” for the most part. (See other sports that take hits or sudden stops) but we have breeched the threshold where everything now is more severe it seems. Take Achilles injuries these last couple years for example. My opinion of course...

I don’t know how you feel about children dieing while participating in motocross, I know it makes me sick to my stomach though…. it’s becoming more of an issue every year. The manufacturers, track owners and sanctioning bodies need to have a serious discussion with one another. I don’t know the solution but I do know 100ft jumps, the suspension that allows you the confidence to do them “confidently” on a super mini and 80hp electric bikes isn’t a step in the right direction nor is it necessary to have close and exciting racing.

Really love this sport but this stuff seems to be happening far too frequently lately. I won’t pretend to know the answer but if we don’t figure out a solution it will be figured out for us.

Vitalmx members have Friese Derangement Syndrome almost as bad a Deegan Derangement Syndrome. Granted, Vince has pulled a lot of stupid and intentional moves, but this one wasn't one of them. But because these poor creatures, who wonder the earth unaware of higher levels of thinking, are afflicted with FDS, they do not know how to rationally process any movement by Vince, they immediately blame him and call for pitchforks. Having the body of a man, but the mind of an ape -- indeed, the missing link in the evolutionary chain -- I wonder how vitalmx members would handle a...

My BEST technique in the 90's arenacross was to get the holeshot or top 3, then block like a mfkr for the 5-6 lap main. Stacked up the trophys with that strategy. 🤪 If they didnt like it, they could figure out how to beat me to the first turn!! Haha!!

Yeah i don't know what the fuss is about. Prado kept the distance to Tomac steady, and for the most of the main he kept the distance between himself and Webb steady. Webb didn't have the speed to pass Prado without Prado making mistakes. I get that Webb was frustrated. But i'm 100% sure that the root of the frustration lies in the fact that Webb has been off pace for 95% of the races this year, during a year when he expected himself to win the title.
