Fox Raceway round 1 VIP tickets what to expect

Edited Date/Time 5/24/2026 12:27pm

Greetings Vital peeps and fellow motocross enthusiasts!

After 30 years of being at a race, the last one being one i rode in at rio bravo mx track in 1996, I will be attending round 1 at pala with my former mechanic(dad) and one of my best friends who will be bring his two sons ages 11 and 13.

I got the VIP tickets since i will be traveling from texas and wont have any home goods to do the camp life…

Has anyone ever had these and overall can anyone give me some tips and or “what to expect”, maybe things that are must see as far as pits or good locations to watch etc.?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated so thanks in advance!

With the VIP tickets you’ll be up on the hill and will have a good view of the whole track with the start and pits on the opposite end.  Easy lengthwise track walk. You’ll have private pot a cans in the VIP area but there will be more just outside along with other food and drink options. Vendor row runs along the finish line area with lots of options there as well. See you there.

Been to Whitney once before it closed. Awesome place.

Looks like you can expect a beautiful day.  Forecast high of 80 degrees (California 80, not humid 80) and not a cloud in the sky.  I'm jealous!

Not sure how it is nowadays as I’ve not been to a national there for years but if it’s as it was leave extra time to get in to track,  it’s just a two lane road from the 15 all the way to the track and can get very backed up.

Last time I went I parked at the 15 intersection and rode a moped in.

Maybe someone who’s been recently can give some input as to if it’s still quite tricky .

If the VIP is anything like Thunder Valley it sucks ass. Sure they have some shade and fenced off area and snacks. But at thunder valley, they left about 20ft of space in the front of the section and as soon as the races started about 100 people packed in that space blocking the VIP pass holders. This was my first year doing the VIP and there were a few fights that almost broke out over it and someone told me this happens every year

I have done the VIP at Pala for 4 years straight and feel it’s worth every cent.

My suggestion is to get to the track early, 7-8am. Find a spot in the VIP section at the front and park the chairs you need up against the fence for the best viewing. Once the races start you will have the hundred or so patrons crowding the fence and its best to be in the front by the chainlink. I grab the far right or left corners so you don’t have people crowding you from both sides. Those spots will be n the sun and you will get roasted so take hats/suncreen. What I love the most is the private restrooms (I’m old), the snacks, breakfast burritos and usually tacos for lunch. When the sun starts baking you can relax under the tent. I think you get 2 complimentary alcoholic drinks. … beers or mixed. All the snacks you could eat in one day. A program and subscription to Racer X.

If the pits are your thing it’s a long hike but you’ll only need to do it once. Going down is easy, coming back is a climb.

I also take binoculars. You will be on the far side of the track and it’s nice to zoom in on the starts and sections of the track that will seem a mile away.

This year I lagged on my purchase and VIP was sold out. Big bummer for me. Some of my son’s ashes are there by the chainlink and I’d go there each year to feel a bond with him. Not a good thing for me to miss out on that’s for sure. I kept checking back and Pala opened up another VIP tent that’s labeled as the “Hillside” . It’s $40 less and you don’t get breakfast or lunch. At least I’ll have some shade/snacks/restrooms and hopefully good viewing.

Leaving is a mess. I found the wait to get out was tough for me so I head to the truck halfway through the last moto and drive right out… no line at all. Watch the ending on Peacock later n the day. You’ll also have no traffic in the morning if you get there around 7-8am.

Looks like perfect weather …. Have fun

For an out of towner with limited resources chairs etc

Its def a solid way to go about it but for a local that can load up and plan ahead its totally not “vip”

Fun day though thanks to everyone that shared insight and man everyone at the track were just all incredible people.

Looks like you had fun! A good day of racing and I was talking to my brother who has been there countless times and he said this was the busiest he has ever seen it!
