What is the Moto scene line around Beaverton?

Looks like my wife's position is being moved there........and we have a choice to make.

lots of good tracks to ride, none in beaverton, but 50 min drive will get you to one of about 10 tracks.

I'm not up on the sumo scene, by my buddy rides sumo and he goes to 2 different tracks that I know of.

It looks like you like Supermoto and there is a Motard track in Canby also. Called Pats Acres. All above tracks are good

Riding aside, the area around Portland is absolutely beautiful and I think Beaverton is only about an hour or a bit more from the coast. Vacationed in Cannon Beach last year and it was awesome.

I don't know about the tracks up there, but my Dad grew up in Oregon and we visit a lot. It is the most beautiful state I've been to along with Colorado. Only downside is the rain.

Lots of moto around here....everyone else named the tracks....

As for the rain, yes it does get old BUT that is why we are so god damn green and beautiful in late summer! If we didn't get the rain we get it would be ugly like SoCal, lol......I am originally from the high desert so don't take it personal! haha

The Northwest is a great place to live, despite the rain.
You dont get bad thunderstorms & lightning like we get in the South East.
You dont get lots of bugs & snakes also as we get down here in the SE (No venomous snakes in Beaverton).
I've lived in the North east,South west ,South East & the Northwest.
By far the Northwest is the coolest place I've ever lived.
People for the most part are very open minded & friendly.
Plenty of shops & tracks around (as already mentioned).
Also,if you like trail riding there are a few orv parks to do that also.
Also if you like sand riding then that is the ticket during the wetter months, Sand lake and Coos bay dunes along the Oregon Coast (wet sand = better traction).

Also, the Beer is better up that way (Full Sail or Portland Ale). Smile

If you like to fish also, plenty of Salmon,Steelehead,Sturgeon & Small Mouth Bass fishing up that way also great ELK & Deer hunting.

Also it is just a few hour flight to SoCal or Vegas.
The bay area is about a 12 hour drive (give or take an hour).
Canada & Seattle isn't far either.

I could go on & on. Smile

Another perk about Oregon is No sales tax. Wink

I don't want to live anywhere else! Except for the Socal area there might not be a better place to be a motohead. (In the summer anyway). We have practice at Mt. View in Sandy on Tuesdays and some weekends. Practice on Wednesdays and races a lot of weekends at Albany. Races every Thursday at PIR in Portland. And of course Washougal has local races, practices and the national.

The sales tax issue is what makes living and working across the border near Vancouver so good, you can do your shopping in Oregon but not have to pay their income tax!

Lumpy....you would fit in great out here. There are some great Spring / summer / fall tracks around the NW. For winter , there are a couple indoor tacks and a great sandy winter track if you are wanting to get muddy. Different kind of dirt though......tons of volcanic silt and it holds the water very well. In fact....it has to rain or be really moist for it to be good....and that's woodland MX. If you don't mind doing a little driving....i would say within 2 hours either way....you could hit 10 - 12 different tracks.

Within a couple hours there’s a lot of moto…a lot of private tracks too….get to know a few people at these tracks and they’ll take you to all kinds of different private tracks on their property. There are quite a few tracks in WA near Olympia and Seattle I didn’t list, also up near the Canadian border at Bellingham. The closest amateur national is the World Mini in Vegas...also, there's Mammoth Mountain

Washougal
Woodland
PIR
Clark county arenacross
Mt view
Salem arenacros
Albany
Eugene
Roseburg - Clarks branch (not sure if its there anymore, but was fun back in the day)
Madras

Don’t worry about the rain…. My wife’s from TX and she heard horrible stories about the rain, she’s been here almost 3 years and loves it. Check out the average highs and lows and precipitation comparison between Beaverton and York…definitely colder, but about the same precipitation

Get used to the rain. I wouldn't live anywhere else though. And someone above said that your only 12-15 hours away from good cali tracks. Thats a stretch by about 3 hours. Glen Helen is about 18 away.

But as for tracks....

Albany Mx
Salem Ax
Madras Mx
Rogue Valley Mx
Eugene Mx
Portland International Raceway has races during the summer on thursday nights
Mountain View Mx in Sandy
Prineville Mx

Washington has...

Washougal Mx
Clark County Ax
RIverdale Mx
Woodland Mx
Straddleline Orv
Burnt Ridge Mx
Hannegan Mx
Eddieville Mx
Airway Heights Mx
Horn Rapids Mx
Toes Mx
Skagit Speedway

More than I may have missed. Even with all these tracks though, you have to wait until its dry. There are great series' over here as well. I'm always at the tracks. Albany Mx tomorrow. Its sunny!

Werd to that. I live for the alpine single track if and when the snow ever melts. Between hood river and gifford I'm up in the mountains all summer. Mt view and shougal are cool, the dunes are incredible, but nothing holds a candle to the quality of trails here. China hat and eddieville gp course are also awesome and haven't been mentioned.

I lived 15÷ years in la/oc and another 13 in chicago. This is my heaven and I love it here. And when it rains we stud up the tires and still go racing.

Beaverton is a nice town. I live in highland neighborhood and like it very much.
Good schools, city is not broke and the beer n' herb are outa this worldWoohoo

Good riding..... check!

We still need to hear what their offer package is. It will mean selling our house that we had built.......quick real estate search found 3 equivalent out there with a 3 car garage & 2750 Sq ft will run about $200k more than here........and would need to find a location I could park the box van & trailers at......my HOA allows it here.

Its all about negotiations at this point.

It definitely rains a lot there but the high desert is only a couple hours drive inland for riding during the wet months. Probably one of the best moto areas in the country to live. If you can deal with the rain you'll absolutely love it.

Oregon is really, really cool. Both for moto and in general. If you like other forms of motorcycling, even better. You will also be pretty close to some very good skiing and boarding.

The lifestyle is great, but the rain and grayness do tend to get to people. If you know that going in, you will be fine.

All my dad's family is in the N.W. We use to live in West Linn and Salem. My dad is in Bend now. The western slope of the Cascades is too wet and gloomy in the winter for my tastes, but Bend is killer.
