Good man.
Good luck, Jimmy. Remember, if things don’t get better right away, keep trying. You’re worth the effort.
All I know is something has to change. I can’t keep living like this.
Man I'm 30, live in aus have a beautiful home, unreal fiance and three fit and healthy kids I have a decent job and all a man could ask for. My mental health was fucked since my teens and I kept ignoring it and fighting it off as something that wasn't real. I put my hand up and got help just over a year ago. I cried to the doc and let out all my honest feelings and thoughts and never looked back. Stick at it brother it'll all be worth it and you've made the hardest step, reaching out for help. My DMs are open if needed.

Huge step, positive thoughts your way. Not easy to admit to one’s self but essential in starting a road to living better.
As someone who’s struggled in the past and, wanted to pull the trigger, I will say I’m glad I didn’t. A few weeks, months or, even years aren’t worth giving into for the rest of your life. I’ll be the first to say, I’ve checked myself in. No shame in wanting better for yourself.
You have my number.
Let a brother know when it’s time to go for a ride on coupl’a KLRs and get some fresh air. Anytime is the right time.
You’re a good dude and you deserve the help and love you need to realize that all you need is the time to re-align.
Jimmy, just come home and breathe. Just…take then time to “be” home, again.

It is hard to admit that you can't always do it alone. Good luck and stay strong.
I just try to tell myself when things are going bad for me that I have had worse days before and I made it through those. Also that they somehow work out when I thought they wouldn’t, You got this !
VL...I will say a prayer for you. It's a good thing to know when to ask for help.
Just remember its a process. It takes time.

Much respect. The first step takes the most courage.

Life is a struggle, I get it. You have a Family of friends here.
You need to sit back on a Porch, watching a camp fire/ The beautiful NM sky while listening to the nature around ya.
Ease up on yourself Jimmy. You can't control everything,
but you can enjoy you. and the now. for today to live for tomorrow
One of the people here who I like reading what they post.
Heal up brother.
Publicly admitting personal issues online takes more guts than most.
Myself included.
Jimmy, there's a lot of support here for during and after when you just want to hang out here. Hope to see you soon with progress updates. My neice is a social worker that helps a lot of vets. Don't give up on the process during times where you think your progress is not fast enough.
Thoughts and prayers brother.
Glad that you've got the self awareness to get help, we lose too many men every year.
Thank you.
Drove three hours to Albuquerque last night. Stayed on a friend’s couch. Going to VA this morning.
This isn’t my first Rodeo with this. I’ve been not dealing with it for years. It’s gotten to the point I’ve driven every single person out of my life. My 80 year old mother won’t speak to me. Kids haven’t spoken to me in years. I’m unemployable, don’t stay anywhere for six months.
Last four years I’ve been circling the drain. It just seems to be accelerating. They’ve put me on medication in the past. I always say I don’t need it. Well Fuck, obviously I do, because I AM THE PROBLEM.
I checked in a week ago for TURP surgery and as always they took extremely good care of me. Stay positive and I’ll call again soon and tell you about how I just talked to my mom after years of no communication.
I love my VA and all the Vets I speak with say the same thing. I’m sure you’ll get awesome care and be the old happy Jimmy in time , but it’ll take time.

We are all “the problem” in some way. The hard part is recognizing that. It’s extremely difficult to do so in the moment and from our limited perspective.
Just remember, everyone has different issues so there is no one size fits all solution. It may take several therapists and/or several different types of treatment to find what helps you. Too many people give up too early because they are seeing the wrong person or are put on the wrong treatment. Keep communicating what works and doesn’t work to your care team.
Also, a lot of people think that the meds are the most important part of mental health care, but I’m a firm believer that meds without some sort of counseling/therapy are only a bandaid at best and may temporarily alleviate some symptoms but won’t address the root causes of the issue.
Hey Hermit, here's sending strength, wishes for a full and speedy recovery for ya. Keep us updated.
....and Jimmy, your story made me sad. You are a good dude and remember, there is always time for change. Your family and kids will come around when they see you working on getting better. This is a journey which you will need to follow through on. Your kids will see that. I'm sure they miss their Pops.
I wish there was something I could do for you. I can't promise anything but I do have a bunch of friends around the States which I can call apon to see for work for you. Maybe Shorty (Andrew) could use another hand as he is a cattle farmer. Folk here will shake trees for ya.
You've taken the first step, go for it and stick to it. Get healthy, get strong...it's never to late to get it done...you got this Jimmy.
The amount of support here shows how great this forum can actually be.
I’m here now. It’ll be three or four days.
You are moving forward my friend.
