Webb’s Engine Failure

When was the last time we saw a 450 engine failure from a factory team? Especially on an easy track, in good weather and so early in the race.

Also JS7 called it, he said Webb will start jumping front end high if he thinks it’s failing and if you listen to Webb’s interview with Matthes he says exactly that.

Webb did say he went to a cable clutch for outdoors and said that was new for him. He also mentioned that the team was putting clutch on the pit board, so he thought maybe he did smoke the clutch but then the bike started losing power and ticking. I wonder if we will find out what happened. I would be puckered up sending it over jumps like that.

They said on the broadcast they could smell coolant and it looked to me like it was coming from up high. Could be something as simple as a hose clamp on one of the cooling system pipes wasn't done up properly

Yeah, looked like a coolant leak, possibly from a damaged hose or rock hit to a radiator.  Kept riding it spewing coolant until it eventually overheated and died.

Sabotage job by one of the Webb haters on here with WDS who couldn’t handle seeing  Coop run inside the top 10 outdoors and pressuring the 2X MXGP champ.😎

I've seen a handful of Club bikes go. But Star? Bizarre.

Do they run a electrical or mechanical water pump on those 450’s? If it’s electrical it could have been that one that gave up and the bike overheated.

Otherwise it’s a blown headgasket or a coolant leakage..

No. But I remember him blowing his bike up and losing the title.

Also Deegs bike apparently needed an engine swap during the bike claim saga if I remember correctly 😆

Im betting on a hose failure of some kind wether it was a hose, or a clamp issue. The amount of steam coming from the engine area indicates a severe coolant leak. Im sure it was just a freak thing

There you go, confirmed " the good old electrical failure".

If the track was as rocky as it seems to have been...I'm going with rock to the radiator until ML or someone asks him directly.🙃

Seems like I remember Dylan’s bike also let go the night AC crashed out of the championship. I think Dylan said he reved it over the finish and it blew.

Apparently 450's don't need coolant?

Motocross Action did a test with Rev X oil additive and ran the bike without a radiator.  I think it's cool when companies encourage real demonstrations.

How long could you ride a stock 450 without a radiator?  Did the magic oil additive actually do something?

You (and I,) could probably ride a 450 without coolant for a pretty long time. Cooper Webb can't race a national moto for very long that way, though.
