Vital forum is constantly flooded with people bitching about the race coverage but I think anybody who has been watching moto for a long time would have to admit that we've got it really good at the moment. Peacock does a military/police/fire/nurses etc. discount (thank you), after which I pay $6/mo for non-stop coverage of all 31 rounds of SMX. Live qualifying on RDL all day, every Supercross, Outdoor National, and SMX round with the racing uninterrupted. That's an insane bargain even at the $10-$12 regular price and I can also watch Moto America, Indy Car, IMSA, Dakar, Tour de France, NBC's Sunday Night NFL games, College Football/Basketball/Hockey, my wife likes Premier League soccer, they just broadcast the Olympics, plus their catalog of movies and TV Shows. I pay less in a year for all of that than a month of YoutubeTV costs and that's before a lot of stick and ball sport fans have to add Sunday Ticket and whatever else for hundreds of dollars. I feel confident saying that's the best bang for your buck any fan of any sport in the world gets and you have people on here outraged that they did a 2 minute spot on the SX points leader playing with his dogs. Not saying it's perfect with commentating or battle box stuff but as has been said on here before, we used to have the races air on a delay in the middle of the night or be piece-mealed across multiple different obscure channels like Outdoor Life Network and MAV TV that you were paying cable prices to get. And if all of that's not enough, the people who run the sport have said that the increased purse money that's going to the riders in SMX is in large part from the Peacock money so while they may not be giving random privateers TV time before the Main Event they have given them at least a shot at a payday if they're good enough. What more can we ask for?

To fix the simple things that are free that we ask for every single week. It would cost $0 for the production team to stay on the racing instead of cutting away from the live racing to show an interview or to show a team manager/family member watching the same race that I want to be watching. To NOT cut away from the leaders battle to show a guy by himself in 11th when you can clearly see the gap closing between P1-P3 etc..
Also, to not force the broadcast team to talk about dumb shit and actually call the racing.
Agreed with rowdy, and agreed with snillum.
You both nailed it.
To fix it, they could probably save money. The problem is Bondo. Since he’s been doing it for so long I’m sure his salary is decent. Fire him and hire a young person with passion for the sport. Save money and better product, win win…
The drone coverage has created a whole other level of viewership, I give them that. Besides all of the silly stuff mentioned above we don't want to see, I didn't understand why we got 15 minutes watching and talking about Cole Davies and 5 minutes of everyone else. I was getting antsy, looking at the countdown clock, 5 minutes left and they're still on him in 4th place. If I am feeling that as a viewer then how come the producer isn't? Its things like that which are still an issue, its like the producer isn't a moto fan and doesn't get it. They guys in the booth are calling what the producer puts up on the screen.

Drone is old already IMO..
Showing the lead 2 guys from the rear, and missing everything the other 20 guys are doing makes a poor race experience.
When we have used drones on our broadcasts in the UK , we have used them statically, like at the top of Hawkstone Hill, at both ends to give a great static shot where we cant get a camera, which is great, but having them whizzing round just hurts my head to watch, especially if you are calling it too.
Used well they are great, used all the time, they lose their impact.
Dayumm... i want what you are smoking!!!...
worst video by far... can't see chit with the constant split screen.. and not only cant we see chit, what they are showing isn't what we cant to see.. they literally miss all the important passes... so obviously OP got the stevie wonder vision going on...
audio.... geezusss fn christ.... worst ever.... rc can't speak engrish and diffys voice is irritating af.... and that's besides the point they are both POS... and all that's before that constant hummmmmm in the background... not even professional level audio going on here...
lastly.... we should NEVER EVAAA EVAAA pay to watch a 3 hr commercial.... just insanity... the paywall gives a BIG FAT check for the billionaires that own the series... but the RIDERS NEVER SEE AN FN PENNY OF THAT!!..... and, because its behind a paywall, it prevents millions upon millions of people from even being able to watch it.... put dat chit live and free on YouTube and millions of more people would view it.... thus selling more bikes, more tires, more bars, more chains, and also exposes our elite athletes to many more people... thus boosting them closer to mainstream... ask the guy living down the street who Jett or the cringe lord is and he'll have no idea... but he may very well have heard of McGrath, Hannah, or RC..
we aint bitchn... we just demand more than manure for our race coverage.... #worsttvpackageinthehistoryofmoto
It is pretty simple. Is that the best product they can put out with the operating budget they have? It sounds like a bro show of kissing ass with a stale product that constantly misses. Is that peacocks fault? Not really, they get what they want out of it.
More than anything is the lack of improvement and downright poor decision making when the races are going.
i can't complain about the product put out, sometimes the announcers are clowns but for the most part i love having the ability to watch on peacock.
what i will complain about however is the forced ads when you watch on replay. fuck off with that. every other streaming service that you pay for you can skip commercials. trying to watch just the heats and mains you're forced through at least 6 ads of 2-3 minutes each break. it's a damn joke.
They’ll be following a battle for 50 laps, then the second a pass is going to be made, they switch off of it. It’s like they do it on purpose. 🤦🏼♂️
And why we can’t “watch from the beginning” when the race already started ?? You can watch NBA on Amazon, if the game already started. Amazon give you the option to watch live or from the beginning. But not on peacock… You have to wait more than an hour sometimes to have the replay available🤦🏻♂️
Not sure, but are you referring to turning the 7:00 stream on at 8:00 and you're then NOT able to rewind and watch from the beginning?
If so, that's what we do so that we can build up play time and then able to fast forward thru all the commercials during the race.
just think how good it could be and money it could make if they weren't so retarded with it?
cant understand making excuses for poor production because its better than 1980 standards?
anyone figured out why it blacked out while eli passed for lead this weekend? seems to happen at key points every race. lol
I always start watching an hour late....I just load up the LIVE event, cover the screen with my hand and hold rewind down to get to the beginning. By the time I skip over the dead zones and fluff, I end up at main events in real time.
Honest question, can you produce a positive post about anything?
Yeah exactly. I’m not able to rewind it on my TV🤷🏻♂️
I can’t even pause it… maybe my TV setup is just ass
That’s my complaint. Peacock doesn’t operate the same on all platforms. Some say they can rewind but I can’t on my Samsung tv app. Same with the buzzing sound, some say they don’t hear it. Just want everyone to have the same experience!
I can't rewind on my 2018 model Samsung, but I can on the 2023 Samsung 85", luckily.
You’re correct OP, we are miles better off than where we’ve been in the past. But at the same time, it is fun to laugh at what Ricky says.
Pit Row
dang my Samsung is at least a ‘23 model and I can’t rewind, definitely jealous of your Samsung!
Just curious, but is there some sort of agreement/advertising requirement where they are required to show a certain manufacturers bike or rider for set period of time during the main events? Not isolating on any one manufacturer or rider, it is just on occasions there is great racing going on up front and we are being shown some mid pack rider cruising around for about a lap.
They have pre canned scripted segments on different riders, they come up with personal interest stories that they are determined to tell, and then regardless of the racing action they show whatever rider they scripted a story about whether that rider is on the side of the track with a flat, floundering in 16th or battling for the lead they are going to tell their story and you’re gonna watch that rider…
The thing that the broadcast critics are trying to explain, let the racing be the story during the race. Between races, tell whatever story you wish you tell, but during the race let’s treat it like a race, not an opportunity to tell history and your feelings and a creative artistic human interest story as if the writers stories are remotely wanted during the race.
They insult the fan bases intelligence time and time again. Ricky is an abomination. Bondo is the Peter principle in action. Hell maybe the entire broadcast crew and network is the Peter principle in action.
Are there things I’d like to see changed, sure. But I agree witb the OP, it could be a lot worse.
The fault lies in whoever is writing the “this weeks race script” that is given at the production meeting each week.
Bondos biggest fear is having dead space during the broadcast. He doesn’t understand that dead space appeals with the sound and visuals to almost all riders.
It’s just another great producer that is disconnected to the actual content.
They don't care!!! The COCK is fake news NBC corp, they have a contract to stream with ADS with Feld Entertainment. This broadcast - SX - SMX is entertainment first to sell ads. The AMA is paid a small fee "vig" to ensure a championship is awarded to keep the *industry in loose check with rules/no rules for profit. Remember it's Entertainment first! The demo is topped out, so they pivot to girls/woman series for a new revenue stream. Woman's action sports is a boom due to apparel sales. How many outfits does your girl have n change out to be girls! It's a niche sport, they don't care about the core fans, it's all about sales... Wait till Sunday night and watch the limited chest cams, truck driver cams, and some of the best footage is from the stands.
The entire broadcast team should sit down and watch 3 or 4 MXGP races called by Paul Malin. Paul is perfection personified as an announcer. He’s at his best when he’s by himself in the booth. He doesn’t need a talking head to help him. The producer and the crew get it as well as the on screen action is nearly as good as Paul. Hell, while they’re at it, they should watch several MotoGP races as they’re done as well as MXGP.
Not that this matters but I can remember walking home drunk from a bar dialing a 1-900 number that charged $2 a minute for results from that night and waiting 2-3 weeks to see highlights from a race
Yep, no doubt looks like various TV's handle Peacock's abilitly to rewind differently. For the record, works fine on our 2021 LG "C1" model.
I also tend to watch qualifying on a PC and no issues with RW or FF on it...I'd imagine that's the case for any PC.
And??
Did you read where i said not that this matters ?
